A list of puns related to "Jargon File"
I have wine, Lutris, and PlayOnLinux. I don't know which one to use when, I have been using the terminal to get wine to work because all I have on Pop is Winetricks and I don't understand it. That's thing one.
Here are some of my plights, biggest one at the bottom:
This is the one that confuses me the most:
CPU: i7-4470K
Graphics: R9 280x, AMD Tahiti
OS: Pop 21.04
Most recent versions of all software TMK
I'm talking about the kind of users who regularly experience bizarre issues with a system or process that require a lot of investigation and time to resolve, but which aren't necessarily their fault. It's as if they have a magic field of chaos surrounding them that breaks things.
Now, I've been modding Stardew for a while. At this point I'm extremely accustomed to how things work. But even I still dont know what exactly certain formats mean/do, or what the differences between them are. I just know how to debug and follow instructions.
That being said, as this is a Reddit, it's a great place for new modders to learn things. So I would like to ask: Would someone (preferably a modder who knows what the terms and formats mean from experience) be willing to explain various types of mods / mod file formats, and maybe even just general terms? Either in the comments here or in a new post if it's detailed enough. I just think it would be a great resource and help de-obfuscate modding jargon for new modders.
EX: What is TMX short for? What do they do? What type of mods usually use it? Or, even more basic, what is a JSON file?(Using TMX as an example since I discussed it recently and core SMAPI now has TMX compat it's relevant, and JSON since it's so core to modding)
note: this is a seminal text in the history of hacking. it contains hacking and computer jargon up to its last revision (2003). wikipedia has a brief overview of the file and its history.

TL;DR: The US will not be in conventional war with itself. If anything, it is going to Balkanize. It will be ugly and not a good time.
Few people want to read books on reddit so I am going to keep this one short(er). If you want the long version, I wrote^1 them^2 here.^3 If you don't like reading, Robert Evans' podcast "It Could Happen Here" is a good introduction to these concepts. All sources are linked at the bottom.
Anyway, the term "civil war" has been in mainstream new cycle as of late. Of course many people balk at this idea because they cannot imagine this happening. It must be impossible in today's modern world with all its complexities. The problem is that those people still view "war" in the way it happened in the 1940s: two big sides, attacks and counter-attacks over lines on a map, money and fuel and infantry on the ground trying to outlast each other, etc. It doesn't work like that. War hasn't worked like that for at least the past 50 years.
The signs of a coming civil collapse can be watered down to four indicators:
1. Freedom and rights are disappearing.
The two wings of our neoliberal political system have refused to return liberties to common people and have only intensified their assault on the unalienable rights in the Declaration of Independence: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Healthcare, the right to one's own body, a living wage allowing one to own a house.
2. Polarization, hate, and violence are on the rise.
The 2024 presidential campaign started on January 20, 2021 at 12:00. White supremacy is now mainstream.^4
3. Access to information is limited.
An information silo is a business management term for information that is self-contained and walled off from everything else. I'm not getting into business jargon here, so think of it like a grain silo. Yes, that giant tube with a dome on top next to a barn. It's full of grain and on the top you can even stand on it (don't do that). It looks good, sturdy, stable, just like a new theory you are exposed to. But if you start poking around, there are a lot of holes, cavities, voids. If one of those collapses, then you go do

Shelly, 60, who is the wife of Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige, vanished from public view in 2005. Save for a single appearance in August 2007, she has been in deep isolation for over 15 years.
Tony Ortega's website, which reports on Scientology through documents, leaks, and interviews with former cult members, is the source for most of this information. Links to sources at the end!!!

We all have to start somewhereβ¦
Together with u/_Exordium, I have vastly upgraded, updated and improved my original FAQ to include terms and concepts that have been missing for some time. There have been massive rewrites, corrections and additions throughout. I feel this is now completely up to date, though I hope to come back to it frequently to ensure it stays that way. I see this as a fantastic jumping off point for explaining GME and the situation surrounding it, though I do not intend for this to substitute the DD in any way, shape or form. #We all have to start somewhereβ¦
