A list of puns related to "Ivy Name"
Ranking the names of the Ivy League
For some reason or another one day I was thinking about how awful most of the Ivy League schoolsβ names are, so I decided to rank them:
I mean, it sounds like a state school. At least the other schools came up with somewhat creative names, UPenn just decided to name itself after the state (a very mediocre state at that with an excruciatingly long name), leaving it indistinguishable from the vastly superior Penn State
Itβs just named after a color. And not a particularly flattering color like red, yellow or blue. It feels like there was very little creativity involved and saying βI go to Brownβ just sounds strange. Maybe youβre accustomed to hearing it, so how would you feel if you heard someone say βI go to black,β or βI attended green universityβ
Just imagine this conversation:
βHey, where did you go to collegeβ
βOh hi, I went to Columbiaβ
βReally? ΒΏCuΓ‘l escuela en Colombia? ΒΏUniversidad Nacional de Colombia?β
Just to similar to the country, the βuβ doesnβt change it enough (Colombia is great though π¨π΄)
Yale - 5/10
Hey, at least itβs creative and doesnβt sound like an already-existing word. But thatβs about as far as it goes. Yaleβ¦ just doesnβt sound good. Itβs a strange word and I canβt exactly pinpoint whatβs wrong with it but something is. Maybe itβs too similar to words like βwhaleβ or βhale.β Or maybe itβs because Y and L are completely incompatible letters (sorry yellow)
Dartmouth -6/10
What was the inspiration for this name? Maybe the school founder was playing a game of darts and hit the dart into his friendβs mouthβ¦? I guess we will never know but the combination of words just doesnβt cut it π―π¬
Harvard - 8/10
This one is solid. Itβs original, it is painless to say, but it still isnβt perfect. The two consecutive βarβ sounds can be tiring to pronounce, and whenever a Frenchman tries to say it, it sounds like a frog got stuck in their throat, but overall, I approve
Princeton - 9/10
The name sounds prestigious. It sounds British. It gives off vibes of fanciness. Sure, it makes you sound ever so slightly snobbish, but if youβre ok with that you will enjoy the sophistication and sleekness of the name Princeton
Cornell - 10/10
Might be the slightest bit controversial for you corn-haters out there but I personally love the name. Itβs short, original and sounds good said with practically any accent. The βnellβ easily roles off the tongue, an
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi there! We are due with baby girl #2 in a few weeks and have (hopefully haha) settled on the first name Ivy. We were planning on using Louise as the middle name but realized that her initials would be ILL and I just canβt get past that ughβ¦. So I am looking for suggestions on middle names that do not begin with the letter L and flow nicely with Ivy. Big sister is Eleanor. Other family honor names we have considered are Catherine and Rosemary but I donβt really love either of those with Ivy. Thanks so much!
Absolutely love the name Ivy for a girl but it has gotten so popular recently and I am more into less common names.
ISO names with a similar vibe to Ivy - think nature, floral, kind of edgy, short
Nothing against anyone calling their child a Ivy- itβs stunning! I just donβt want our kids to have the same name!
TIA β€οΈβ€οΈ
We are due 2/14 with our baby girl and are still unsure if we are going with Ivy or Scarlet for her name. We probably wonβt know until we meet her. That being said we would really like some suggestions with the middle name for both Ivy and scarlet! Thanks everyoneβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Hi name nerds!
I'm looking for a first name I can use with the middle name Ivy for a girl. Ivy was my grandmothers name so I really want to use it - but I can't for the life of me find a first name that works.
For reference, I'm trying to stay away from names that end in a, such as Bella, Sophia, etc. Also the name cannot start with an S because we have way too many of those in our family haha. I originally loved Peyton Ivy, but someone pointed out it sounds like poison ivy and now I can't unhear it. Something to think a bout as well is our last name starts with N, so many names make initials like PIN, SIN, etc. Help!
I wanna hear people who I've never met refer to me as Ivy
Hi namenerds! We've picked Ivy as our little girl's name, but we're seriously struggling with middle names. I love nature themed names and names that sound whimsical & 'witchy', but I can't find anything I like that goes with Ivy. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!
Was at the OKC show last night and I wasnβt able to find the song from his Apple Music discography.
And I am kindly wanting to ask people to try it out on me because I like the name and I've used the name on a Discord server but I want to hear it from people who have never actually talked to me before
Art is good, not really much of a story. But like I said, if you're a completist...
I am due to have baby girl #2 in September. We had chosen the name June before even getting pregnant. We have been privately calling the bump June etc.. but last week my husbandβs cousin (who we do not get on with) just used June as a middle name for her daughter. It has tainted the name and I am starting to second guess our choice.
The names at the top of our list are:
June
Sienna
Summer
Last name Cox.
We love the name Ivy. Middle names we are considering:
Ivy Raine Ivy June Ivy Bea Ivy Rue
Iβd love some more suggestions! Ivy doesnβt have to be first name, we are okay with it being middle. :)
