Last Summer I happened across a Bible College in a tiny town in New York State. I did a little digging on them and found some fun fundie gems in their student handbook.

Here is an imgur of interesting handbook tidbits. Lots of highly specific and restrictive rules, church services mandatory 3x a week! And, Don’t forget to do your bible quiet time journalling and turn it into your RA!
The basics:
They’re a two year, unaccredited bible college, are super serious about being bible literalists (like it comes up 5+ times in the student life section of the handbook), young earth creationists, mention in the very first pages of their handbook that they will not hire lgbtq+ people or admit lgbtq+ students, and have dating rules as strict or more strict than the big fundie universities. They’re also remote, like really out there in the middle of the Adirondacks, which is a very sparsely populated area. Oh and they will control every aspect of your life as a student.
Having seen it, I can say that the campus looks very nice, very picture perfect log cabin type buildings, in addition to the beautiful setting (the Adirondacks are gorgeous). Between the summer camp, resort, and college it’s absolutely massive. It’s basically taken over the town at Schroon Lake (which is a very small town to begin with). I was in the area last summer so they were shut down, like all colleges and camps in NY last summer, so can’t say what the students are like.
Here is the wiki. They’re an international organization and run summer camps around the world, but Schroon Lake, NY is the headquarters, and is the location of the Bible Institute. Also they were founded by a street preacher from Long Island, so the history is a strange ride.

Noticed in TFA that Lor San Tekka's settlement happens to be on a plateau. Might be common for Jakku, but it's interesting that the "Consecrated Eremite" lived on a specific plateau called the Plaintive Hand. And even more interesting that the consecrated Eremite was an important figure to the anchorites (assuming that's why young Rax questioned Sheev if he was the "Eremite returned.")
I got the privilege to meditate inside the Dhyanalinga dome, which is situated at the foothills of the Velliangiri Mountains in southern India.
My experience
My first visit happened when I was struggling with some mental and emotional blocks and wanted to deal with them. I had no faith or belief in such things, for all I concluded, it was some religious dogma. Three days at the Isha Yoga Center, doing my practices in that space, meditating in the presence of the Dhyanalinga shrine, my months of depression was cured, it is something I still fail to comprehend. It was all so mystical.
Doing three days Silence Sadhana
The next time I visited the center, I opted to go into complete 'Silence', which means not looking at anyone, not speaking and there were some more guidelines. Those three days, a large part of my day was spent meditating near the shrine. It was then that something beyond my mind started happening to me, I could feel the presence of an energy within me, it was as real as it was physical. Slowly these experiences started being more frequent even when I was physically not near the shrine.
Accessing Dhyanalinga From home
Sadhguru says that consecrated forms are not limited to time and space and hence can be accessed from anywhere. You can fix a time of the day(Morning or evening is good) and simply sit with your eyes closed. As most people will not be able to relate to something unless they are in its presence or have at least seen it, it is good if one can visit or just look at the picture(Which one can easily find online). Such things are abstract but very powerful.
The Role of Dhyanlinga as a catalyst in our meditative journey
This shrine is an energy form that has been created for 'Meditation'. The word 'Dhyana' in Sanskrit translates to the word 'Meditation' in the English language. It is a tool to hasten or catalyze our inner journey. I can say this not because I believe, but because I know so many people who simply lose the sense of time sitting there. People from all religions and races, who may have no idea of what meditation is.
Today marks the 22nd anniversary of Dhyanalinga's consecration. Here is a small video on The legend of Dhyanliga.

In the late 70's/early 80's Bob Monroe ran dozens and dozens of experiments in his lab with people who he trained to go out of body. He had multiple seperate soundproof rooms/pods for each person, and each pod was hooked up with a microphone. Bob not only trained people to go out of body, but he trained them to go out of body and also report what they were experiencing into a microphone in real time. He was able to speak to them in their pods, ask questions, and they would report back to him in his separate control room. What they reported is on the explorer tapes.
Also some of these sessions involved two (sometimes more) people going out of body at the same time, meeting up above the lab in the out of body state, then having a shared experience. They would both report back what they were both seeing as it was happening. Though aspects of each individuals experience were slightly different due to subjective interpretations of the events they were witnessing, it showed that they were in fact seeing the same events.
Some tapes describe the origins of humanity, probable future outcomes, communication with non-physical beings, taking to the source (all that is), past0life regressions, descriptions of the multiple-dimensions of self, and experiencing other realities similar to ours.
Some of the explorers in these tapes include Tom Campbell, and Joe McMoneagle. Joe was the Army/CIA operative that went to the Monroe Institute to learn how to incorporate OBE into Project Stargate. These sessions with Joe were part of the now famous CIA documents.
This stuff is real-life Inception. I even have a theory that whoever wrote the screenplay for Inception knew of the work at The Monroe Institute. I cant confirm this, but the similarities are pretty wild.
*note, I'm not trying to persuade anyone to belief this stuff. I've researched and followed this stuff my whole life and find it very interesting. If it conflicts with your beliefs, move on.
