A list of puns related to "How To Make It In America"
Thank youuu
hi so im curious about the idea of taxes pre- and post- revolution and how the revolution itself might have changed how some of the founding fathers and the wealthy viewed taxation and how different were the tax codes pre- and post-revolution.
as well as asking when were the early changes of newer views/implementation of taxes, and if it was more geared towards a enriching the individual vs funding the state and how those two were balanced.
A big (silly and maybe stupid) question though that started this was, did Americans (from the wealthy/founders even to the lower classes, and within 2 generations of them so get a good span of time) get richer overall after the revolutionary war??
I was young when it was out but i thought it was a great show really underrated give it a watch. If youβre in a situation where youβre trying to make it in whatever venture youβre in youβll appreciate the show!
I can't be the only one ..
Quick background: my parents died when I was little, so my momβs best friend and her husband adopted me. Iβm white, my family is black. Iβve grown up in a primarily white town/school. In CC 85% of my friends were black. Now in college, theyβre primarily white (mostly due to my joining of a sorority). I just want to make it clear that, while Iβm not black, I see on a day-to-day basis the injustices and judgements and shit black people go through. But obviously, when people look at me, they see a privileged white girl. (Which I am).
I am currently in a literature class which was supposed to be about gender and nations but has gone off on a race tangent. No one in my class is black. My professor is not black. We were reading a book with the n-word in it. She laughed about the word and said because it was in literature she didnβt care if we said it. The rest of the class said they didnβt care if we said it. I said it was an awful slur and we shouldnβt say it. It was me v the whole class. I asked my little sister her opinion and she said she wouldnβt have cared bc it was in the book but she wouldβve been annoyed that the prof laughed.
Iβve been upset about this since it has happened. We just watched βGet Outβ in this class. My fellow students were commenting on racial stereotypes. Again, I was upset because I know theyβre not true. But instead of fighting ~10 people on seemingly mundane things, how do I actually make a difference? I also donβt want to step on anyoneβs toes, or imply that black women and men canβt fight their own battles. I just feel like thereβs more I should be doing.

Iβm sure it was talked about during the hype but this is such an amazing 10 years worth of films.
