A list of puns related to "High Blood Sugar"
I got a case of covid a few days ago from my brother, and initially I had a pretty bad fever and chills, as well as vomiting, but that only lasted a day. The last two days I've been feeling much better but my blood sugar levels have been through the roof. I've been waking up to 280s and 270s, last night before bed I had a 415 which I brought down to 160, but when I woke up this morning it was 270 again.
Took a shitload of insulin and had a normal breakfast, then went to work out. Got back, checked my blood sugar, it was around 312. Took 6 units of Humalog and waited an hour, now it's at 264.
I'm scared of going into DKA or something, although I have no symptoms. I don't have any keto sticks either so I can't test my ketones. Been drinking a ton of fluids and attempting to bring down my blood sugar but I'm clearly in insulin resistance to a degree.
I'm planning to eat very low carb foods for the rest of the day and of course take more insulin when needed. Is there anything else I should do or should I just wait it out?
EDIT: Got it down to 166 after repeated injections.
I saw a post earlier discussing the effects of low blood sugar, and yes I saw that the overall consensus was the most notable effects occur if you lose consciousness or have a seizure. Iβve also heard all the usual long term complications of diabetes: heart disease, nerve damage, blindness, losing limbs, kidney failure, etc. However Iβd like to hear from people the effects theyβve noticed from frequently high blood sugars?
Further explanation/details: Iβve had T1D for 17 years now (since the age of 2), 2020 was definitely the worst. I took enough insulin to keep myself out of the hospital I guess (I did have a fewβ¦ concerning incidents, sleeping for 36 hours, throwing up from my sugars, near passing out- but then Iβd take insulin and be alright so I donβt think I was ever in DKA) and I think the highest my A1c got was 14.0mmol/L (252mg/dL). Iβm trying a lot more now, but I still prefer highs to lows and I canβt get it out of my head how much my [lack of] mental health potentially ruined my future before I even get there.
Addition- I guess more so what Iβm asking is how immediate the complications are.
I know I canβt chalk it all up to a high BG, since Iβve been procrastinating all week, but I just ate a big lunch and my blood sugar is around 240 and Iβm just sitting on the sofa unable to concentrate or focus on anything. I need to work on my thesis and take care of my plants and I just feel like cryingβ lol is it my depression or diabetes or both?
I know for most its small but for me this is a really big step in the right direction. I recently saw my endo on Wednesday got a dexcom and put on Novolog and thanks to those plus taking the advice from last time I posted here My sugar hasn't gone over the 210's since (The highest it been is 210 and that was after eating a big meal) Still learning about what's actually a good reading or not bit for now I'm pretty pleased with the results.
OMG. where do i start. At about 7:30pm I had a burger * gluten-free due to an allergy* and let me say I mostly eat healthy. if I eat a burger its going to be 1 about every 3 months. i try to avoid them but tonight I was craving one so I decided that ill have one for dinner. My blood sugar started to slowly climb 30 mins later and I thought to myself ¨"oh its fine, Ill just take a quick little correction and it will start going down in about 30 mins or so.¨¨ BOY WAS I WRONG, by 10:05pm I'm already around 250. SO I'm thinking *hmm well i do need to change my pump because I'm on day 3 anyways. and if i don't change it right now anyways before i go to sleep I'm going to run out of basal in my sleep.* so i changed it. and my step mother calls to see if im aware that my bg is high, *im at my grandmas house btw* i told her yes and i took another correction. * this is probably correction 5 by this point im not kidding.* and i go on reddit and posted my problem and asked for advice and help, most of the people that helped told me to do some sort of light exercise and/or change my pump. so bye midnight my bg is over 300, staying there minding its own business. so i did some light cardio and literally chugged some water to flush out any ketones. now its 3 am and my bg is finally 241 and going down. I literally haven't got any sleep watching my blood sugar slightly kill me hour by hour. being a diabetic is so fun right?? thanks to the ones who gave me advice. Now my bg is going down cus of yall. <3
iβve been overstimulated when my blood sugar is normal, but itβs so much worse when itβs high
Itβs fucking annoying. Iβm hungry but Iβm not eating while my sugar isnβt in range
I often see people on here talking about high blood sugar symptoms. Iβve had diabetes for over a year now and Iβve had a multitude of highs and lows, and yet Iβve never been able to feel any symptoms when Iβve been high. Iβve had a fairly low A1C too (5.8 and 5.7) so itβs not as though I am desensitised because itβs normal for me to have high blood sugar. What should I be looking out for or expecting?
(I have googled it and itβs not been very helpfulβI thought maybe other actual diabetics would be able to answer more easily)
Hello all. I am just wondering if others have experienced elevated blood sugars following a COVID-19 vaccine. I didnβt really notice much after the first 2 but just had the booster yesterday and things are so so off today, with nothing else out of the norm other than the booster. So just curious. Also about to message my endo (but know itβll take a couple days to get a response since itβs the wkend). Thank you!!
Hello-
T1 for 37 years. For exercise I like to walk and run but have not run in awhile due to another autoimmune disorder that made breathing difficult. I was recently diagnosed and I am taking medication (Dupixent) and feel so much better. Ever since I was young, when I exercise I go low during or after. Recently I have worked my way back to running (1 hour) and my blood sugar goes high - upwards of 300 about a half hour after exercise. I have experimented and tried walking for 30 minutes and it goes high then as well. I don't understand why it would change, for my whole life I have always gone low.
I have checked drug interactions and there does not appear to be anything obvious.
For Diabetes I am on: Ozembic, Metformin, Basaglar, Novolog, Fiasp-Dexcom CGM
Has anyone else had a change like this? Thanks for your help
Or maybe just as dessert.
Hi my mother has type 2 diabetes which is managed with 8 units of lantus usually, she has an amazing diet and doesnβt get any diabetes symptoms anymore, recently like 2-3 weeks ago she got really sick for a week and last sunday she felt like her body suddenly felt weird(she had chills, her eyes became hazy at times and her head felt empty) and since then her fasting blood sugar has not gone down from the 190βs even though nothing weβre aware of has changed(weβve even increased her lantus to 14 units yesterday) anyone can give me a clue to whatβs happening and how can we regulate it? should we be concerned?
I ate pretty normally today but my blood sugar spiked to 160 after lunch and had stayed there for about 8 hours despite eating low carb, high protein foods only. My day time blood sugar rarely spikes at all. Iβm 38 weeks, delivering in one week, and on metformin.
Should I just wait to see if it goes down? Should I call my doctor in the morning? Iβm not concerned about a random spike but more so that itβs not going down. I had eggs two hours ago with a protein shake and my reading was 156.
Iβve been diabetic since a fairly young age and have had my fair share of high blood sugars. My pod fell off during my sleep last night and I woke up to sugars too high to read. Iβve noticed that whenever my blood sugars are super high, I get really bad diarrhea. Sorry if Iβm sharing too much, but I really want to know if this is common with high blood sugars. None of my diabetic friends have had this issue, so it makes me question it.
Or how does it cause you any harm? When I look it up I just see symptoms and no actual explanations.
I have a friend who is sick of hearing about his dog's heart attack. He's always telling her the heart attack is because of the high blood sugar. He's also saying dogs should take the heart attack seriously because they need to be treated with antibiotics. I can't believe someone would be so concerned.
Iβm 15 been diabetic for fours years and most the time my blood sugar is 120 to 180 but most of last week and today Iβve been HIGH on my Dexcom I checked with the meter and Iβm 486 I was wondering if any of you guys knew what is going on Iβm on a pump btw
I had my first frozen embryo transfer this morning which is so exciting, but I am taking steroids for the transfer and went high after lunch today. I was between 200-250 for about 2 hours. Itβs been hard to manage things with the steroids but itβs thankfully my last day taking them. I just hope I didnβt mess up my implantation chances :(
So I am into D&D and recently have begun to DM for this group of players. Two of the players are a couple and have a nice house to play at. However they have cats.
When I was young I knew I was allergic to cats, but nearly never interacted with them and when I did usually all that would happen is that my eyes would get puffy. Not a big deal, just don't touch my face.
At this house I've noticed that my blood sugars skyrocket from the time I get there to the time I get home. At first I thought it may be nerves or the fact that we do eat food there, but today I literally had 10grams of carbs and went from 125 to over 400.
Now I wonder if it's the cats. Is my allergic reaction to cats making my blood sugar go high?
Is it just me or do other people have really low motivation in the morning when you wake up high? I started walking every morning before I bolus for breakfast but this morning I woke up at 190 and told myself Iβd go for my walk later after my daughter left for the bus (so I put it off for an hour.) I hovered between 180-200 for that hour and now I decided to take my insulin instead of waking. I really donβt feel like doing anythingβ¦
At whatever point there's something incorrectly in our body, it sends signals we have to perceive. Such is the situation for diabetes β if there should be an occurrence of glucose levels for a drawn out period, you may encounter thirst and yearning, foggy vision, moderate recuperating of wounds and a successive inclination to pee.

My wife has had T1 diabetes for over 10 years. She's currently dieting, and her blood sugar levels are stable at around 6-7mmol, however she's done a ketone test and they are reading at 16mmol/L which is incredibly high.
From what I understand, this is not DKA, but nutritional ketosis. Is this something that we need to address, or is it purely due having a low carb diet that this is giving a high ketone reading, despite normal blood sugar levels?
