A list of puns related to "Gyro Gunsight"
Would gyro gunsights be an acceptable feature in Air RB for aircraft which had them? It's a pretty useful tool in cockpit view that would be nice to translate into external view.
For those of you who don't know what a gyro gunsight is to a reflector sight, from Wikipedia
Gyro sights usually contained more than one reticle to assist in proper aiming: a fixed one, often just a dot, signifying the direction the guns are pointing, a moving one showing the corrected aiming point, and a ring to match to a target plane's known wingspan.
In external view the 2nd moving reticle could be set by convergence-range distance. If you can overlap the moving reticle onto an enemy in a deflection shot at convergence range, your shots are pretty likely to hit. In a way, it's like the lead indicator in Air AB but reversed.
Germany and USA/Britain had their own gyro gunsights designs. According to Wikipedia, the German one was supposedly even slightly better at predicting the corrected aiming point. A contributing factor to Germany's version was that a P-47 was captured with its gyro gunsight intact (the Hitlerbolt???)
A limitation was that extreme deflection angles couldn't be done by either side's gunsights (20-25Β° perhaps?) so maybe the corrected aiming point reticle in external view can only move within a limited circle around the fixed reticle? It would limit its usefulness to pursuit or low deflection situations. That could make high deflection shots or outside-convergence gunnery still a useful skill to have. It would limit the usefulness and potential OP-ness of the gyro gunsight. In those cases you have to return to eyeballing your unmoving reticle ahead of the target while the moving corrected reticle is disregarded and/or shunted to one side by the turn.
Apparently the moving reticle could be turned off, turning the sight into a normal reflector sight, so that could be a preference for those who prefer to eyeball it or fire at assorted distances without the distracting moving reticle. Especially since the moving reticle is only useful at a set range in pursuit/low deflection situations.
Thoughts? Too OP? Or are the limitations enough for it to be a gunnery feature useful only in certain situations?

The new Focke-Wulf looks amazing, and will come in the next update (hopefully within the next few weeks).
PO2 really makes me wish for more news on Flying Circus.
Wow that gyro gunsight description went over my head, I'm not that good with technology.
Edit: That's Developer Diary number 196, not 168. Ugh.
I'm pretty certain the Javelin used to have a gyro sight, now in the first person view I just get a gunsight that doesn't move. Did something change?
I read a lot of online debloating tips suggesting us to remove this particular app. Some say without reason/evidence it's for ads
But when i look at its activity, it looks like this.
It's related to gyro, GPU, gunsight (gaming), and even security (fake cell tower thing).
I have a solution for a less arcadey lead indicator for radars in Realistic Battles.
If you don't get the idea from my amazing photoshopped pictures, I suggest you just watching an F16 dogfight in DCS, because I basically stole the idea from there :P
I don't know if it should be default for modern jets, but at least a new crosshair style
So basically this is my idea... anything to add/change?
This seems very peculiar, to say the least, given that Vya-23s seem to have generally better characteristics for an aircraft cannon.
23mm Vya-23s use 23x152 caliber bullets, with 600rpm RoF, 890m/s MV, and similar bursting charge to German 20mm MG151/20 HEI rounds.
23mm NS-23s use 23x115 caliber bullets, with the same 600rpm RoF, 690m/s MV, and only 16g TNT equivalent bursting charge (on par with the spotty Type 99 Model II cannons).
The Vya-23 is far easier to hit with, and is far easier to kill with. I can only imagine what sort of weapons the Russians would have developed for their jets if they put THIS gun on later jet aircraft.
Was the weight of the guns and ammunition the reason, or was it manufacturing capability, or even both?
Ingame, Vya-23s reliably nuke anything they touch even more reliably than German cannons. NS-23s, much like the Japanese guns whose bursting mass they are similar to, are all over the place - sometimes they kill instantly, other times not. At least for their even worse velocity of 580m/s, MK108s reliably KILL things with 90-102g bursting charge...
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
DCS 2.7.7.14727 Open Beta
Introduced two new campaigns:
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
Do your worst!
Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.

Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?
Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"
Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

Edit: Thank you guys for the awards, they're much nicer than the cardboard sleeve I've been using and reassures me that my jokes aren't stale
Edit 2: I have already been made aware that Men In Black 3 has told a version of this joke before. If the joke is not new to you, please enjoy any of the single origin puns in the comments

BamBOO!
A play on words.
I've been thinking lately about leaning controls. The buttons, although they can be placed anywhere on the screen, have to be placed somewhere, and I find no matter where I put them, if its accessible enough to use, its something I am bound to accidentally tap or swipe over, no matter where the hell I put it.
So, I had a thought the other night, and I would like to share it with you all, and get your feedback. What would you gyro players out there think about having the option to control lean, with gyro rather than buttons?
Currently, we can control the aim of the camera view and the gunsights, with gyro, no problem. Just tilting the phone up and down, turning it left and right, controls the direction we are facing or aiming in. Its pretty nifty, and I like it just fine.
But what about being able to tilt the device along its length, tilt right to lean right, tilt left to lean left? I feel like this would be a cool method of using lean functions, and I am keen to hear from you guys.
What do you all think?
My daughter, Chewbecca, not so much.
