A list of puns related to "Grocery Chain"
The economy is falling apart. Now is the time to own silver and to make sure your other preps are in order. Now.
Here is an article about the strike: https://denver-cbslocal-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/denver.cbslocal.com/2022/01/08/king-soopers-strike-union-contract/?amp_js_v=a6&_gsa=1&&usqp=mq331AQKKAFQArABIIACAw%3D%3D#aoh=16417598206917&_ct=1641759826571&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&_tf=From%20%251%24s&share=https%3A%2F%2Fdenver.cbslocal.com%2F2022%2F01%2F08%2Fking-soopers-strike-union-contract%2F
Here is where you can apply for jobs

King Soopers is Colorado's largest chain of grocery stores. They notoriously treat their employees, many of whom are disabled or elderly, like absolute garbage.
Now, workers have authorized a strike after caps on the amount of sick leave employees can take per year, changes in overtime, outsourcing of jobs,ย noncompetitive wages and health and safety concerns. Here is the official statement from UFCW Local 7
However, King Soopers is already looking for scab replacements, as seen here.
I've seen this subreddit do incredible things for workers over the past few months, and I think we can do so again now. King Soopers workers have suffered tremendously over the past year, including being the site of a mass shooting.
UPDATE: King Soopers pretty quicklysent out a new offer to the union, but the union rejected it. However, in a show of good faith, the union did extend its contract deadline until Wed morning. Kroger seems pretty desperate and if things don't go their way, they may concede more than they planned on.
It shows how brittle the system has become in face of every new challenge.
Talked to an employee after noticing some people werenโt wearing masks. They said corporate directed them to ask unmasked customers to put one on. If the customer refuses, the employee has to drop it or get fired.
The county health department told me that businesses are supposed to ask people to leave if they refuse to wear a mask in a business.
I would prefer to spend my grocery dollars at stores that treat their workers well, or to flip it around, Iโd prefer NOT to shop at places that treat their employees poorly.
Just read a really disheartening thread about Trader Joeโs that pretty solidly put them in the โshit employersโ bucket.
Whole Foods = shitty, thatโs a given since itโs Amazon - but do they treat you as shitty as one might expect, or is it actually better?
The other options near me are Wegmans or Stop & Shop; any workers at these places able to comment?
What about other chains in different parts of the country?
Letโs start raising awareness of the decent grocery chains and the shitty ones, so those who are able to do so can let our dollars do the talking.
From Albertson to Whole Foods.
Let's go Brandon!

Shoppers across the U.S. are confronting alarming shortages of basic foodstuffs, as a variety of factors exacerbateย supply chainย issues.
Severe winter storms have disrupted shipping in parts of the country over the past week, and surging cases ofย Omicronย are driving millions of absences from work, disrupting basic functions such as shipping, unloading and stocking.
so here in michigan we have this chain of stores called "miejers", think walmart sized. when i was a kid maybe like a decade ago i used to go look at the fish they sold in the back of the store and there was one of them that i always wanted to get, it was this eel looking fish that was the same thickness across its whole body, really thin and long. maybe roughly the size and shape of a normal pencil but squished in on its sides so it was taller than it was wide. it would mostly sit at the bottom of the tank half buried in the pebbles at the bottom. its head i think was also triangularly shaped and it was black and silver i do believe.
edit: it was absolutely a freshwater fish and i think was called some sort of shark but that could be wrong
