A list of puns related to "Glastonbury Abbey"
I'm currently reading The Anglo-Saxons by Marc Morris, and he gives the impression (but doesn't directly say) that the original monks at Glastonbury who discovered the bodies of King Arthur, Queen Gwenevere, and Joseph of Arimathea were in on the idea that their relics weren't real, but that it didn't matter so much because others believed, therefore donated more to the church. However, I realize that is likely Morris' personal interpretation of the evidence, so I wanted to know what the general consensus is by historians on intentional religious fraud, for lack of a better term, or if it's something that is heavily debated.
