A list of puns related to "Freesat+"
I'm fed up with my TVs terrible freesat software and how slow it is so I wondered if it is possible to build a decent freeview or freesat box for the UK out of a raspberry pi. I see there are coaxial head ends available I think, but is there decent software out there for it?
Hey guys,
I am into networking but I donβt know anything about satellites and TVs. My missus would like to have free tv but our aerial is crap and I think there is an issue with the TVs port.
I have two satellite cables coming to the house (they black) and I suppose this is for Sky.
Our TV can decode satellite channels, I managed to put in some known frequencies first and I grabbed some african channels, after I realised that the UK has freesat.
Now I go on it and it manages to find the channels (170) and I get the guide too, but when I go on one it says invalid signal.
As I mentioned there are two cables coming to the house (next to each other) . Should I be using a joiner or something? What am I missing here?
It seems to be a secret since it doesn't have a logo in the programme guide (on my tv at least). Hopefully this will be useful to some. I'm just writing enough words now that this doesn't get classified as a low effort post.
Hi all, I've just purchased a new Freesat Recordable 4K TV Box as my old Humax finally gave up the ghost. Anyway, how do I find my Youtube music uploads on the pre-installed Youtube app? I only have a basic account BTW but can see my uploads on an Amazon Fire box using the apparently same Youtube app? Thanks.
We got rid of our sky subscription some time ago, but have been using the box as a freesat device since. (Of sorts).
Now that's packed up, I'm thinking of getting a proper freesat box, but the choices are overwhelming.
The prices go from Β£20 to Β£200 and keep going up. Reviews seem to be mixed and very few address ease of use of the menu .
Can anyone suggest a freesat box that has a hard drive and is good value for money?
Hi,
Just bout a sony bravia kd-55xh9005. I'm not using it with cable tv.. trying to use it with the built in digital and satellite tuners.
The digital one works fine, I got all the local digital broadcast channels and a 7 day EPG.
But not so with the free to air satellite... I can get the channels but the EPG is crap.
It finds 400+ channels etc on initial install so nothing wrong there.
Problem is with the EPG for freesat. It is only showing Current program and Next. So its pretty useless.
On my previous TV (an LG) I cured this problem by setting the location to a UK postcode. Then it showed a full 7 day EPG for all the satellite channels.
With this super duper (not!) Android Tv there doesn't appear to be anywhere in the settings that I can change the location.
It looks like it gets the location from my network/ip address or else from my google account.
Not sure. Hoping someone here might be able to advise.
Also this useless bloody TV does not appear to be able to pause live tv either??
I set up the record function just fine with a new external USB drive.. so it records.. but it doesn't timeshift.. aarrhgh...
This has always bothered me and Iβve never been able to find anything on it but I know itβs real. This was around 2011 and I remember on an obscure channel on freesat called InformationTV, there was a half hour gaming slot which had a gaming news show called Gamerβs Bitesize, which ran for 10 minutes, and then after the ads, there would be 2 random guru Larryβs retro corner videos. I didnβt know he was a youtuber at the time so I just thought this was original content, but years later I find his channel and I remembered watching his vids on TV.
This is both a vent and also an ask if anyone else remembers the videos being on TV
I'm very new to the world of FreeSat, having been a Sky customer for 15+ years. Can anyone help me better understand the hardware required to plug into my old Sky Q dish (I'm replacing the LNB with a hybrid 6-port) so that I can access both the FreeSat channels and also possibly explore IPTV on the same box?
I'm looking at the huge range of Vu+/Gigablue etc. and am totally confused. I'd like to be able to record to an internal HDD and (ideally) connect it to my Plex server laptop too but I understand that bit is more complicated so happy to put that on the backburner.
Can anyone help me understand this better? How many satellite inputs will be needed? Will I be able to add IPTV firmware to it etc.?
Again, apologies for the very amateur level questions but I'm hoping to learn and appreciate all help.
Hi there,
Just moved into a house that only has a Satellite. It's missing Channel 4 HD on Freesat which is really annoying as I watch that quite a bit live.
I can see there is some workaround guide if you have an old Humax box, but nothing recent and certainly on the LG tuning settings I can't see a way to add programmes, only clear and search for a specific one. I have a 2020 LG BX for reference.
Has anyone found a way around this? I see Freesat and Freeview are meant to be merging but I doubt that will be anytime soon, so do really want to get this sorted.
Thanks!
I am considering buying a 2021 Samsung Frame which I understand comes with a One Connect box. Does the One Connect box come with a Freesat tuner built in, or would I need to buy a separate Freesat box to receive Freesat channels? I have an existing Sky satellite dish which I would plug into the One Connect box.
Hi all,
Moved into a new house that only has a satelite dish unfortunately. I have always had Freeview, but know Freesat exists. I am looking at an LG TV that has Freesat support but have heard how annoying the TV guide can be. Does it work if I plug in the satelite connector to the back of the TV and tune to satelite? Will I get a TV guide on the telly? I really don't want to buy a box for it, I want to use the TV Guide on the TV remote.
Never had an issue with freeview but seems that this is more complicated and want to make sure I get it right.
Thanks!
So I made the mistake of buying a modern Samsung TV that apparently does not have Freeview built in. I thought that it was standard on all TV's but it seems we have gone backwards.
Anyway the only thing my mother watches is the basic Freeview channels. I'm wondering what's the cheapest option I can buy to get those channels without having to return this tv and buy a new one.
Edit: It has an aerial slot. Model number: Samsung UE55TU8000
Edit 2: So its been solved now. My girlfried plugged the wrong aerial into the tv. (We have two??) It works now after doing the autotune again. Thanks for the help and reassurance guys.
I plugged my satellite leads in and it searched, found hundreds of channels, in no order, no logic, no easy way to arrange them, no obvious program guide, nothing.
So my question is, am I doing it right? Or does it really only support the protocol and I'm better off actually buying a Freesat box?
I wonder who had to pitch that idea to the studio
Looking for one of these as my subscription to Virgin has finished and money is a bit tighter than before so thought get one of these.
Cheers guys
I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to fix my satellite dish input to stop a small handful of the channels from being broken up. It's CNN and a couple of others that I assume are from the same frequency or source.
I have a very strong signal being reported via the Box settings menu and all other channels are working fine.
Essentially, I'm looking for a solution that doesn't involve either me or someone else tinkering with the dish outside.
Hi all,
Im thinking of taking the plunge I to purchasing an NVIDIA Shield (potentially alongside a homebuilt NAS Plex Server for streaming across multiple devices around the home).
However I can't seem to get a clear view on whether NVIDIA Shield can manage Freesat in the UK - both for watching plus also recording TV.
Is it possible and if so what (Hauppauge?) TV tuner do I need to look at? Do I need to use Plex Server on the Shield for this to work?
Thanks!!
Anyone know of any? Sky+ boxes don't encrypt Saorview/Freesat recordings, AFAIK, but you need special software to access the contents of the hard drive and you'll void your warranty in the process. My TV's built in DVR encrypts everything, making it impossible to pull recordings from an external hard drive without some special keys and third party software.
