A list of puns related to "Fpl"
Currently 85k, aiming for a top 10K finish.
I already used one FH chip. So it is a bit challenging, yet a realistic target I think.
What about you?
I found myself getting increasingly frustrated by the "expert analysis" being given by Steve McManaman yesterday during the Man City vs Chelsea game, were the former Champions League & La Liga title winner was just making statements that were either lazy, or simply factually incorrect.
It was however when he questioned why Chelsea were not simply lumping the ball up to Romelu Lukaku, "an excellent Target Man", that I had had enough, and did what any rational 42 year old man would do - posted my frustrations in the rant thread.....
Drinking my tea this morning in front of my laptop, with yesterday's game completely out of my mind (not a surprise - it was one of the most forgettable "Big 6" encounters in recent memory), I felt quite vindicated when I spotted the linked video from Tifo IRL in my YouTube home feed, "Lukaku is NOT a Target Man". Clearly, I was not the only viewer yesterday taking umbrage with the poor analysis from the BT coverage.
That then got me thinking - We hear A LOT of comments on players, managers, formations, and tactics on these games, that the average football fan would just take as gospel, but time and again in the FPL community here on Reddit, we challenge these regressive narratives, like the champions of football purity that we are :-D.
Here are a few other examples:
FPL Website crashed 1 minute before the deadline.
These Youtubers all had live streams right up until the final moment - they all tried to make transfers - but it was too late. The site was down and no changes were made.
Here are there live reactions from yesterday in a compilation video.
Edit - I know I'm not great at video editing. Complete amateur. Just tried to make it a bit more humorous/interesting. Hope you like it.
The cancellation of games the last few weeks have highlighted a lot of people on here with poor mental health who use this game as a bridge to actual happiness.
If anyone in Devon or Cornwall can wants to meet for a drink or for some food and have a chat or just an excuse to laugh at my team, my inbox is always open.
This is an excellent community full of people who care, so we fully expect other people to make the same offer in the chat below for the rest of the country / world / universe.
Our teams might be unravelling, but on here weβre all a team. Letβs bench boost each other.
I started FPL in 2013, and I remember throughout the mid 2010s I would captain the likes of Suarez, AgΓΌero or Costa.
In 13/14 Suarez was my go-to forward, 14/15 I went with Costa as captain for most games with Fabregas as key cog in my midfield.
After that either Kane, Vardy or AgΓΌero wouldβve been leading my team; however this season I feel like the striking options are so poor; Vardy is losing form and fitness, Ronaldo on paper should work but United are so bad these days, Lukaku doesnβt even want to be at Chelsea and has had injury problems, whereas itβs taken Kane about 4 months to turn up.
Players such as Ings, Watkins, DCL, Antonio, Dennis etc are good players but itβs not enough for me.
Least villainous at the top, most villainous at the bottom
ARSENAL DEFENCE - does not include Tierney as he got an assist, you probably werenβt expecting much against City though
LIVRAMENTO - out injured when needed the most
ESR/ MARTINELLI/ LACAZETTE - again you canβt expect too much but they did score without any if these involved
CHELSEA/ LIVERPOOL DEFENCE - was always going to be an open one, so no clean sheets expected here really
RAPHINHA - despite being Leeds talisman in a 3-1 win he does nothing, and misses a sitter
VILLA DEFENCE - 2 goals conceded against a reasonably poor Brentford side, bit annoying to be honest
KING/ DENNIS - Dennis hooked at half time with an injury, Watford could of had a penalty but not given
DALOT - just been an awful asset recently for his owners, didnβt play this time
RONALDO / KANE - premium strikers are just not the same this season
GRAY, EVERTON ASSETS - hits taken for a double gameweek that didnβt go ahead, classic
DCL π€ JOHNSON - 0 points in a double gameweek, DCL missed pen and Johnson got a yellow card, subbed off and then benched

It just isnt the cup if you dont get knocked out in the first round by a dead team. That's where the magic of the cup lies in.What went wrong for you this time around ?
Yeah so this is a really random question, this is my first season of playing FPL after doing fantasy euros with my friends and I'm finding it really fun. Also, somehow I'm at the top of our mini-league and all my friends are shocked. So I was wondering, in the future, what sort of job is suited to things like analysing players, finding patterns and taking risks with little loss?
The only damage being done today is from your 6 million ranked cup opponent who had Gordon captain from GW1. Expect a Kante goal today followed by a 96th minute Kelleher equalizer.
Edit: Mane 2.9% owned and it's safe to say all of them are dead teams. A true casuals day.
Since we all are extremely dedicated to the game and often feel miserable and regretful after our team doesn't perform well. So, I want to share what I use to cope with this.
We should ask ourselves these questions when experiencing unsuccessful decisions:
β’ βIs it really THAT bad if I fail in my captaincy choice, have a bad GW and drop in rank?β
β’ βWill this affect my overall life in a negative way?β
β’ βIn 1 year time, will I really care that I had a captaincy fail in GW17 of the 2019 season?β
β’ "In 5 years time, will I really regret owning Reece James over TAA in the 2021 season?"
By asking ourselves these questions, we realise that FPL isnβt everything. It is only a small part of our lives. Itβs success or failure is not the end of the world, even if it feels like it is.
Iβm sat here at 6 am waiting for news to emerge on Palace vs Spurs to decide whether or not to free hitβ¦ The things FPL does to a manπ₯²
Iβve had a shocker, 30 points after a -4 so half my team will be on this list. Least villainous at the top, most villainous at the bottom.
BOWEN - picked up a pointless yellow
MARTINELLI - 5 goals scored, no returns but 3 points. For 5.3 mil you canβt expect much.
GALLAGHER - might have been in your team due to postponements, but you werenβt expecting much
MBLANKO,2NEY - youβve probabky got rid, but if youβve had other fires to out you get nothing from them as always
RUDIGER/ALONSO - cs wipe by a stupid James mistake
DALOT/TELLES - canβt even keep a clean sheet against Newcastle, cheap though
LIVRAMENTO - no longer returning as much, a fallen king
VARDY/DUFFY/GUITA - didnβt play
FODEN - fucking idiot was too focused on clubbing, could have hit double digits in both of these last 2 games
RONALDO - canβt even return against Newcastle, not all his fault as his team is shit and gives him no service. Still a mustard loving fraud
JAMES - own goal, wipes Chelsea clean sheet, what a donut. Got a price rise though
COVID - postponements, expected postponements, and all the rest. Just a terrible situation
FPL SERVERS - you made that early transfer to get Watkins last week, so this week you play it safe. Oh wait, FPL servers crash meaning you took a -52 or your free hit didnβt go through, or Son and Saka are benched. Any apology or anything done to fix it by FPL? Obviously not.
Any i missed?
Honestly, thereβs been so many players thatβs shown signs of being a valuable asset only to blank for 5 game weeks.
For me personally, I can think of:
Mbuemo, Antonio, Shaw
Anyone else you guys would like to add onto the list?
The title may sound far fetched or exaggerated (and it kinda is) but hear me out.
On 2 December, before the outbreak struggles, Spurs played Brentford and won 2-0. Toney was heavily marked by Emerson Royal in this game.
Toney tested positive after the game, and Emerson and teammate Gil missed Spursβ game on the 5th against Norwich with βillnessβ.
After this game the scale of the outbreak at Spurs became clear, with Emerson, Gil, Son, Moura, Davies and a few others testing positive.
Norwich couldnβt get their next game called off, so played United on the 11th. After this game United had an outbreak of their own (Maguire and Sancho who played in that game werenβt seen at training) which caused the game, incidentally, against Brentford to be called off. Norwich played Villa on the 14th and Smith said after the game their weekend game against West Ham was in doubt.
The other game to be called off was Burnley vs Watford, which was after Watford had played Brentford the previous Friday. Other Brentford players tested positive after Toney (Canos and Pinnock I believe) and it wouldnβt be out of the picture to suggest other Brentford players may have had the virus or carried it during that game.
This may be me seeing links where there arenβt any, but I think the chain of events makes sense. It shows that the PLβs protocols arenβt controlling COVID well, if only one case from a player could spiral like this.
TL;DR Toney got COVID and it spiralled between players who played each other
EDIT:
This mainly satire and to be taken with a pinch of salt, and not to criticise Toney (if by some tiny chance itβs true) as anyone can get it, more to criticise the PL if itβs actually true as the protocols would be really lacking in that case.
It was also just to analyse the coincidental links, as the butterfly effect is something that interests me and mapping out the links was fun for me, even if itβs probably fake.
Sorry if it didnβt come across this way or if it sounds like Iβm blaming Toney
It was after the SanchΓ©z red card that managers started considering Guaita and Ramsdale. Many opted to go for the former because of his appealing fixtures and low ownership (I'd say it was a 60-40 split between Ramsdale and him as direct SanchΓ©z replacements). This was in gameweek 11, and between GW12 and GW16 he scored 11 points in 5 games despite facing Burnley, Villa Leeds and Everton. Of course Ramsdale does bits in every second game.
He then randomly gets dropped in GW17, but people don't prioritise moving him in GW18 because of the mass blanks. There is also hope that he returns in the next game.
He doesn't.
Rumours of a broken finger float around but he is somehow deemed fit to make the match day squad. This prompts concerns about his nailedness, which are further exacerbated by him being dropped from the squad altogether in GW19. COVID rumours have spread on twitter which matches the news about an outbreak at Palace. Being dropped + COVID doubt + not appearing in the last squad drives numerous managers to finally move this fraud on.
Lloris, De Gea and SanchΓ©z are by far the most popular replacements with many taking a hit to get them in. Guaita, meanwhile, looks set to have a blank with strong suggestions that the game is getting cancelled. You probably know where this is going.
He doesn't blank. He's in the squad. And not on the bench. He's in the bloody starting lineup. And he keeps a clean sheet. Meanwhile replacements Lloris (2), Sanchez (3) and DDG (probably not going to start) get half his points or lower. That's just fucking brilliant right.
Oh, and the suddenly starting blond fraud seems set to have a tasty double gameweek in GW21. No words.
So over this festive period, my girlfriend and I have had to self isolate in our flat as weβve both returned positive LFTs just in time to avoid the family and for me to concentrate on what is βThe most wonderful time of the yearβ in FPL terms.
A few GWs ago I was around 350OR (!) and as Iβm a teacher presently enjoying the school holidays, Iβve been able to spend pretty much every waking moment strategising, researching, planning, worrying, and ultimately agonising over how Iβm going to maintain this rank for as long as possible.
Annoyingly, Iβve had a few slightly poorer GWs during this period and am currently sitting just inside the top 1k. Iβve noticed my mood over the past few days has been pretty shitty as a result and although my better half and I havenβt actually argued or anything, I feel like if I watch my differentials blank tomorrow and my rank plummets another thousand or so, I will probably be pretty pissed off and not the most ideal person to be isolating with.
While my girlfriend is super supportive and has always totally accepted the importance of FPL to me, she is probably starting to wonder if sheβll have a boyfriend by the end of the season or just an intensely obsessed man-child who sheβll need to take care of when I predictably finish around the 100k mark.
My question to you all is relatively simple: As a community of seemingly hyper-engaged FPL managers, I ask if you have any coping mechanisms, tips or general advice that I can use to stop myself from becoming no fun to be around when things donβt go my way in FPL.
Any suggestions are more than welcome, and I hope any advice can be useful to others who might be in a similar boat!
Hi everyone! My name is Emily and I want to write a guide on how to effectively take hits in FPL. Hits are one of our most powerful resources as a manager as itβs a way for us to significantly change our team without waiting for the 1FT we get every week or for our Wildcards. That being said, the cost of the hit is very high, 4 points is a significant price to pay for a transfer and often people struggle to figure out whether making a transfer for a hit will be worth it! Hopefully this is something this guide can help with.
Everyone knows that a hit will cost you 4 points, right? Well itβs slightly more complex than that. The true cost of a hit is the difference in points that the player you got in gets, minus the player you took out, minus 4. To take a basic example of this, if you took a hit this week to take out JimΓ©nez (2 points) and to get in Lacazette (5 points), the cost of this hit was not 4 points it was actually 1 point. While hits that cost you the full 4 points are generally not worth it, taking a hit to a player who is in form, or who has a much better fixture can often mitigate the cost of taking a hit significantly. There are many resources online that can help you make an informed decision on how many points a player can be expected to score in the next week. Fantasy Overlord and CheckTheChance.com both do FPL point predictions, and looking at basic stats like points per game and the upcoming fixture can both help you to decide whether the player you are bringing in has a high chance of outperforming the player you are taking out. I want to stress that even if you plan on holding the player you hit in for a long time, taking a hit to a player in poor form or who has a tough fixture will almost never be worth it over waiting until you can do the transfer for free next week. Save yourselves the points and wait until the hit does not cost you as much. In a similar vein, taking a hit from one low impact player to another is also generally unadvised. This is because the differential in points you can expect in the next GW are generally not enough to justify the -4 spend. An important exception to this is when taking a hit to ensure that you can field an 11 for the upcoming week. Often these hits are closer to free transfers as the expected points you can expect from a player you bring in is often above 4. Itβs often wise to hit aggressively when your team is significantly out of position enough to not being able to field an 11.
That all be
... keep reading on reddit β‘This is the first season where Iβve actually been obsessed and serious with FPL, but already Iβve found this season extremely tough with the Covid postponements ruining all my transfer plans
But I wanna know, has this season been the toughest yet? If not, which ones were tougher? Honourable mentions?
I find myself watching football matches only in terms of FPL these days.
Generally speaking that doesn't sound like such a bad thing, but like how watching porn can rewire the brain, I'm finding myself having awful thoughts that I would never have otherwise.
For example, I sold a certain player recently, and on the next GW they blanked and got injured. Instead of being concerned about their injury and hoping they were okay, my initial feeling was a burst of glee at my decision, most likely due to the release of endorphins, the feel-good chemical.
Another example was a couple of teams with players that people in my league had were out with COVID, making them field less players, while I fielded a full team. I nearly wet the bed fist pumping in reaction.
Today however was the day that broke the falafel in two and caused me to make this post. I heard rumours that a player was out with COVID and found myself hoping the rumours were true to justify my selection choices.
I like to think of myself as a morally decent member of the wider societal consciousness, but maybe not by this evidence.
Thoughts?
Least villainous at the top, most villainous at the bottom.
ANTONIO - missed a great chance, but got 5 points
TRENT/JOTA - 2 pointers from the both of them, but normally return so are allowed one off day
BILVA - 3 points from him is better than usual, but this guy just never returns anymore
LIVRAMENTO / MAHREZ / STERLING - rotation/injury casualties of the week. Pep never rests.
JAMES/RUDIGER/ALONSO - James injured, Rudiger yellow card, Alonso + Rudi last minute clean sheet wipe
DDG/ MAN U DEFENCE - can never rely on their defence, thought DDG was out then he was in then he lost his CS without any save points
DALOT - benched, comes on for a 1 pointer, plays on the wing. Threatens but no returns
BROJA - benched for Shane Long, wow
MOURA - benched after the big haul last week, classic
REGUILON - one of the most transferred in, big haul potential. Except he was hauled off at half time after a yellow card
COVID - matches postponed, not so bad this time but already one game is gone from next week
SALAH - free hitters and those that benched him last week were laughing about how stupid those who sold him were. The sellers fears were confirmed when Salah wins a penalty, set to destroy their rank. Except no, Salah misses what i believe was his second penalty for Liverpool. Some even triple captained him - ouch

10 year old account deleted randomly
Hi everyone, I log onto the FPL app a few times every day. Iβve been on it multiple times today before the deadline. At 6pm I went onto the app and it wanted me to sign in, which I thought was odd. When I put in my details it said they were incorrect, they werenβt as they are saved on my passwords. I then tried to go through the forgot password to recover my account. That also didnβt work. I asked a friend to check the league table and my team was gone from the table, but the positions in the league had not changed. So it was showing him on top of the league in place of myself, who was previously top. But still showing a 2nd place next to his name. I didnβt have an offensive team name (stop savin chat) so I have no idea why this has happened. Does anyone know how I can recover my account ASAP??? I had an OR of 4900. Was on for my best ever finish with all my chips left to play. π₯
