What a disaster the fire service is around here. A bunch of undisciplined young kids being put in a position of responsibility and the Lieutenants are no better. The LT's are more/less the Chief's appointees (whom he is mostly buddies with) and all they do is screw off all day and sleep. Then you get other guys who come from another FD who want to continue to snooze and be lazy while making others do their jobs.
We had a message paged out yesterday from the Chief that says nobody is to be sitting in a chair or be in a bed until past noon because truck checks, including refueling and restocking, are not being done and neither are station chores or a daily training. We work in 2-12 hour shifts (0700-1900, 1900-0700). The Chief has issued a directive and the LT's cant seem to enforce it, ever, and it goes by the wayside until a few months later a similar page is sent out. WTF? Shits getting old.
She got nothing in exchange for the progressives votes on the Bi-Partisan infrastructure bill. That means the bill will advance without ANYTHING in the Reconciliation bill, because that means all the leverage for that bill is GONE FOREVER.
