A list of puns related to "Fata Morgana"
I finished the House in Fata Morgana around a year ago and since then it has left a lasting impression. I have always been a sucker for dark stories that lull you into a false sense of security only for tradgedy to strike -- and to that front, this vn checks all the boxes and then some. The storytelling, characters, music and art were all done beautifully and I was hoping to recapture that feeling of awe and shock in a similar visual novel (or even a book or other form of media). If anyone has any recommendations for something that's dark, tragic and well written please let me know, thanks!
I'm curious about this story telling medium but admittedly skeptical. As much as I've tried, I've never gotten into anime, though I have read a few manga series like Monster and Berserk which I enjoyed. Generally I do like well written stories with good characters and tight twists and turns... but who doesn't?
I downloaded Fata Morgana on Steam and unfortunately am not super impressed so far. I've "played" for about an hour and feel like I'm just not super engrossed in the story and the writing is cheesy. Everyone loves this though so I assume it must get better? Nothing crazy has really happened yet.
I also wonder if I should just return this and try Umineko instead? I like that it seems more contemporary and someone compared it to Kurt Vonnegut who I love. Which is a better story to break into VNs with? Should I just continue with Morgana because I'm already an hour in? (Also it seems like it's only half as long)
I am thinking about buying/pre-ordering one of those three for the Switch from Amazon jp. I am currently reading Higurashi (have completed about 9 arcs) and understand most of the text with some little exceptions (e.g. one sentence I don't get or heavy slang parts I often don't bother to read accurately when not important for the plot) and have been playing some JRPGs before that in Japanese so I'd just wanted to know how difficult you'd say these two VNs are? I wanted to take a look at some Japanese lp's but it's difficult to judge the level of Japanese on the first 30 minutes or so. ^^Β° Thanks in advance!
Played umineko amazing game and recently heard about The House in Fata Morgana. From first glance it kinda gives me umineko vibes.
Was wondering if this game is anything like umineko? Is it worth playing? Iβm a fan of a good mystery like umineko. Thanks.
I was planning on trying out fata Morgana since I heard so many good things about it. Then I found out it had two versions. The 4k thing is pretty tempting compared to 800x600 version but I heard the remastered changes the artstyle or something and some people made it out to be a big deal. So my question is which one would you recommend and why?
Damnβ¦β¦..
Now onto Requiem!
I know that these are the "big ones" when it comes to visual novels.
Is there any periphery information that's worth knowing while I'm going through them?
I spoiled myself by accident and saw that >!a character called Michael (not sure of the name saw it just one time) is an intersex!< Is this a huge spoiler that I wont enjoy the experience ?
What a Journey! Really enjoyed it!
Here are some of my thoughts.
- Main Game: I found the doors to be all good with my favorite being the third but the last third is way stronger than them in a major way! Seeing the slow development of michel and giselle's relationship was both endearing and tragic. Seeing michel going back and interacting with everyone and having banter was very nice and his line of "this here is what i always wanted." really hit me, also in this chapter nellie calling him "Dearest michel" also struck me as really sweet.
Overall it was a solid experience.
------------------------------------
- Requiem of Innocence: When I was going into it I was like "So this is pretty much just an extension from the flashback from morgana's past, huh?" not expecting anything too impressive.
Well. I was right but... FUCK ME! This was amazing!
The minute details of everything that would bring about the tragedy. Morgana's suffering. Jacopo's Kindness and innocence before becoming a lord. The relationship between the two blossoms.
Past Maria was very good here too, I thought she would have more relevance than she did in the last part of the last game(She didn't even talk with Lord jacopo in there) but here we see how true her friendship with him was before the curse corrupted it, also ,what happened to her was very mean of the developers... like, At the end i felt like i was being stabbed multiple times in the heart because of all the horrible things that were happening and just when i thought it was over... THEY STAB ME AGAIN with her last scene at the end!
I Hate(Love) you Novectacle T.T
Also, this was a very tight and solid 10 hours or so. I don't know if it's unpopular of an opinion but I would recommend people to start with this game if someone asks me for recommendations.
Ps: I like how this game lies with the CG of Ceren with the blue sky.
- Extra Episodes : Really strong too. Assento Dele and Fragment made me cry so hard and Happily Ever After was very funny when i picked the Animation choice (Who Would've guessed? A damn South Park Reference)
-----------------------------------
- Reincarnation: A Nice Wrap up and fanservice all around.
Michel and Giselle living together. Mell and Nellie getting through their problems.
Pauline and Yukimasa somehow also solve theirs.
And Best of All Morgana and Jacopo with Maria seeing their Homeland.
The Short stories were also very good with some really standout ones.
My favorite was the

Iβve heard nothing but great things about this VN and itβs on sale on multiple platforms atm, so Iβm eager to snag it. The Dreams of the Revenants edition is about twice the price of the main game on Steam, and Iβm wondering if the extra content in the Switch version is worth it.
For this game I have a slight preference for Switch over PC, but I donβt want to pay twice as much if the extra content is meh in comparison to the main game.
EDIT: thanks for the replies, all! I ended up buying the Dreams of the Revenants edition on Switch. It sounds like the prequel is well-received and getting that + the main game on Steam would be $20. Switch edition was $8 more, but even if - worst case scenario - I donβt care for the sequel, $8 for additional stories, better resolution/background images, and the convenience of the Switch sounds worthwhile for me. Looking forward to experiencing this story!!
Wow. Okay so I need someone to talk to about this amazing visual novel. I am beginning Door 3 and shocked at how some say this VN has a slow start? The art and soundtrack sucked me in right at the beginning and once I read the ending of Door 1- it was all over. I am hooked.
I read Raging Loop + Extras + Revelations mode right before Fata Morgana and I thought that had some twists and was very well done (I would give it an 8 or 9 out of 10). But oh boy this VN is something else.
I finished Door 2 last night and the twist was insane. Actually the entire Door/Chapter was a rollercoaster. I had to read some write ups about it to further understand how Fata Morgana uses it's medium as a visual novel to enhance the storytelling.
I will spoiler some of my questions as they pertain to Door 2. If they will be answered in future doors please let me know and don't answer.
>!Is the white haired girl in Door 2 the SAME one that was in Door 1? I am very confused about how she refers to her mother. Wasn't the white haired girl's mother Mell's mom? !<
>!If white haired girl is the same between Door 1 and 2, then how is she blind now?!<
And then for people who have read it entirely - How is it possible that this story can get better?? I have been reading comments saying, "Oh it picks up at the end of Door 3"?? What?? I am breaking a cold sweat over how excited I am to continue reading this lol.
Disclaimer - When I ask "how can people say this VN has a slow start" I understand that not all stories are going to click for everyone, I just genuinely am wowed by the story so far!!
Edit: I was having difficult figuring out how to spoiler my questions
Title. Just want to know if there are any updates or if its complete on cartridge/disc.
The story deliberately avoided directly naming nations, ethnicities, cities and conflicts. It added another layer of mystery to the story and made me think for myself regarding these aspects, so I would say I liked this approach. However, I'd like to share my guesses and ask for possible corrections.
Some locations are very obvious, some are not so much. There are some I am not sure about, so I'd appreciate if anyone would correct me.
Door 1 - 1603
England. There is a bustling town with a church near the mansion.
The Rhodes family and other characters are English.
Door 2 - 1707
Spain. There is a devastated village near the mansion.
The story takes place after and/or during a war that devastated the region of the mansion. During 1707 the War of Spanish Succession is ongoing. In Spain there are two separate factions (Pro-Habsburgs and Pro-Bourbons) fighting. This was obviously devastating to Spain.
Pauline travels to Spain, where he meets Javi (Spanish name). Pauline's home seems mostly unaffected by the war. It is confirmed in one of the side stories in Requiem for Innocence that she is from the Netherlands.
One of the OST that plays specifically for this door (Fecha me), is in (very badly pronounced) Portugese. This alone does not make me think the mansion is in Portugal, though. I think it's Spain.
The Merchant, Yukimasa is quite obviously Japanese. His name and his katana suggests so. Also, the country he is from is under a strict blockade. That is definitely Japan during this era. He is referred to as an Oriental, which refers to the broader region.
Pauline's father is from the same country as Yukimasa, which would make him Japanese, too - and Pauline half-Japanese in this life.
Door 3 - 1869
The mansion moved to the new world - United States of America, after the civil war
Jacopo and Maria are Sicilian.
The White-Haired girl is European royalty. I don't remember many details of her origin in this life, I can only guess. Scandinavia maybe?
Door 4, 5, 7 - mid to late 11th century
France. The surrounding village is on the ruins of the town in the last door.
The Bollinger Family and Giselle are French, and are from "the capital", which would be Paris. This reveals that the original location of the mansion is within a reasonable distance of Paris, reachable by a carriage in a few days if I remember correctly (at least in this era).
All of the first names appearing in this era are French, if I remember correctly.
The knighthood order Di

>There is a house that sits beyond dark, dense woods.
>
>Like the world fading into view after a dream, that old mansion appears before you.
>
>Without realizing it, you instinctively accept as truth the events unfolding before you.
>
>The house lives in perpetuity-an amalgam of myriad fates and generations.
>
>No one knows who first said that the mansion was cursed.
So begins the Gothic horror visual novel* The House in Fata Morgana. You awake in this cursed mansion. You don't know who you are, but a mysterious maid insists youβre the master of the house, that sheβs long awaited your return, and that she will help you recover yourself by opening various doors in the house. Behind each door is the tragic tale of one of the mansion's past inhabitants. You'll witness the story of a young heir with a rather-too-devoted sister, a gruesome twist on Beauty and the Beast, and the tale of a woman trapped in a loveless (?) marriage with a wealthy industrialist. And then...a lot more, which is very hard to talk about without spoilers.
If any part of that sounds even slightly intriguing, stop reading here and stick The House in Fata Morgana on your TBR list.
There are more than enough supernatural elements that I don't see a problem posting about it here, but a search of the subreddit turns up only three results, and only one of those is actually a post about the game. I'd never heard of it before some algorithm fed me an article about its release on the Switch earlier this year. Perhaps Iβd have heard of it if I were subscribed to a sub like r/visualnovels. But Iβm not, and Iβm guessing most r/Fantasy regulars arenβt either. So given that it would have been a tragedy had I never played this book, I feel like Iβd be committing a crime of omission if I didn't recommend it here.
That said, itβs hard to sell this game. Iβd advise against even reading the description or watching the video on its Steam page, which to my mind give away far too much. The way the stories and reveals (and there are reveals a-plenty) are structured makes it difficult to say what itβs about without giving a synopsis of half the plot. And the second half, at that. The summary at the top of this post is more than enough, and I'm glad

Is there any other content that was in the original editions or any other side content that wasnβt included in the DotR edition?

I am reading the Steam version of The House in Fata Morgana, and I noticed several times when I tried to scroll up to re-read the previous dialogue, there was text thorougly out of place there.
Is this a bug, as in, dialogue that happens later is mixed in here? Or is this some eerie hidden thing that has some meaning, perhaps?
This dialogue below absolutely did not happen, but it is sandwiched between things that did. Many of it is also censored for some reason.
Either way, reading "Curse them. Slaughter them. Revile them." during a wholesome moment between The White-Haired Girl and Michel, is so creepy that it seems somehow intentional.
EDIT: After you guys confirmed it is not a bug, I read back a few more lines, I now understand this is definitely intended, and horribly creepy. I thank my monkey brain for forgetting a line immediately after reading it, so I scrolled back at this exact moment. I will keep checking.

Surprised I don't see this one talked about more, especially with its move to the switch. This one just hit really hard for me, not gonna spoil anything, but the core story thread completely took me by surprise, mainly for how daring a move it was ten years ago.
I haven't had a VN hit me as deeply as this one, I think the only one to come close is DDLC. What about y'all? Any other THiFM fans?
I took a break from playing Smash Ultimate competitively to focus on some other stuff. Competing at anything can wear one down mentally, so I played through Final Fantasy X before my collectorβs edition of House in Fata Morgana arrived from Limited Run Games.
I donβt think I was prepared for what it would do to me.
Iβm not some visual novel connoisseur; Iβve played through the Nonary Games series as well as Clannad and Stein;s Gate, but, while they were enjoyable enough, I thought they were βgood visual novels.β
I just finished a week of Fata Morgana, andβ¦ itβs not just a βgood visual novel.β
I read a lot of books. I watch a lot of movies. I play a lot of video games. I read mangas and watch animes. Iβve binge watched TV shows. And yet, having read and watched hundreds of stories, I think The House in Fata Morgana might just be one of the greatest stories Iβve ever experienced in any form of media.
Iβm writing this becauseβ¦ well, sometimes you experience something that you know will leave an indelible mark on you. Maybe itβs the death of a dearly beloved, or the day of your wedding. Maybe itβs the first time you wake up after LASIK surgery and realize you can see, or that feeling of fear and awe when you stand on the precipice of a cliff overlooking the curvature of the ocean. Maybe itβs that time you offered a bowlful of food to a starving child and heard them say, βThank you,β in a bright and joyful tone, or that time that you performed a magic trick with a deck of cards and watched someone scream and run away.
For me, Fata Morgana has been one of those types of experiences. It sounds like an exaggeration, I know. I sound like someone who downplays truly impactful experiences out of ignorance.
But in terms of creative expression, Fata Morgana is one of βthose experiences,β a moment in a life full of memories that you just wonβt be able to get out of your head.
I think that Fata Morgana not only displays superb storytelling, but also uses the visual novel medium to amplify the experience. I had a recent discussion with a friend on the topic of our favorites in each subsection of storytelling media (movies, books, video games, etc.), and I mentioned how one of my favorite animes, Kakegurui, was one of my favorites not because of its incredible rhetoric or plot (in fact, its story is pretty meh), but how much style it injects into so many of its scenes in a way that only anime can really do. Itβs an anime that displays what an

During the final door, when Michel returns to the era of Morgana's death, Giselle starts to fade out and disappear. After being silent for a while, she told Michel that she "dozed off". I'm surprised Michel did not find this suspicious, as he knew, Giselle never felt sleepy since becoming The Maid. The next morning, she was gone.
This is all I noticed though, as I can't figure out what caused her to disappear. Was there any specific reason for it that I missed? Why now, after hundreds of years? Was it because for the first time she observed an era she did not exist in?
On a side note, I just finished this reading this story, and it was one of the best I have ever read. After several years, it is the very first VN I consider a 10/10, along only with Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0. It was recommended to me in this subreddit, and I thank you.
