A list of puns related to "Fairbairnโsykes Fighting Knife"
I have an old British Commando knife, FairbairnโSykes fighting knife, made in the 1960's (by Sheffield I believe). The patina was murdered before it was mine, so I've gone through and straightened, polished, and sharpened all the things. I spent an hour on a fine stone with cutting oil at the end of its spa day with me and its symmetrical and sharp enough to slice paper...but its not *sharp*.
I have another FairbairnโSykes (Sheffield) that is more modern, blacked out blade, that is mechanically new with the factory edge and its about as sharp as the older one is now...the old one was butter-knife dull when I started working on it.
Should I just be happy with it, or is there a tool or method or something specific to this blade shape that I am missing?
Hey guys,
Does anyone know if I can get this knife on any of the chinese sites? photo
Despite searching on line I can find very little regarding the actual construction of these knives.
Hey all,
Iโm looking for a Fairbairn-Sykes knife. I believe they were originally issued to British commandos in WWII and were highly used and effective to a point (see what I did there). Iโm a military history buff and Iโve recently become an admirer of knives of all kinds and those who make their own (absolutely lovely workmanship from posts Iโve seen here btw!).
Iโve tried looking online and havenโt found much beyond articles on the history behind it.
Does anyone know where I can pick one up?
