A list of puns related to "Elizabeth Cady Stanton"
It seems they both played active roles in the womenβs suffrage movement in the second half of the 19th century, so why is Anthony the name that comes to mind instead of both women? From what I understand, they both had significant contribution, especially the Seneca Falls Convention / Declaration of the Sentiments. Does anyone have an inkling as to why Anthony is more well known, despite the women making a great team together?
I'm looking for something a teenager could read before she starts AP US History.
Elizabeth Cady Stanton the founder of the first feminist convention (Seneca Falls Convention in 1848), was president of the National Woman Suffrage Association from 1892 until 1900..
Elizabeth Staton said "we are, as a sex, infinitely superior to men, and if we were free and developed, healthy in body and mind, as we should be under natural conditions, our motherhood would be our glory. That function gives women such wisdom and power as no male can possess.''

Pay attention Pickmeisha!
βPut it down in capital letters: SELF-DEVELOPMENT IS A HIGHER DUTY THAN SELF-SACRIFICE. The thing that most retards and militates against womenβs self development is self-sacrifice.β

TRUER WORDS WERE NEVER SPOKEN!!!!!!
They knew this back in 1848!!! Why oh why do so many of us forget this? The more things change....the more they stay the same. Its depressing to realize that despite all the advances women have made, our personal interactions with men are still stuck in the 19th century. THAT my sisters....will be the last pillar of misogyny nad sexism to fall. It's falling already as we can see from the reactions from the LVMs on reddit and elsewhere when women HAVE THE NERVE to say "I"M NOT YOUR FUCKING THERAPIST! OR YOUR MOM! OR YOUR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMAL!
Jesus fucking Christ...nothing really has changed when it comes to women and their burdens. And male refusal to step up:
The general discontent I felt with woman's portion as wife, housekeeper, physician, and spiritual guide, the chaotic conditions into which everything fell without her constant supervision, and the wearied, anxious look of the majority of women, impressed me with a strong feeling that some active measures should be taken to remedy the wrongs of society in general, and of women in particular. My experience at the World Anti-slavery Convention, all I had read of the legal status of women, and the oppression I saw everywhere, together swept across my soul, intensified now by many personal experiences. It seemed as if all the elements had conspired to impel me to some onward step. I could not see what to do or where to beginβmy only thought was a public meeting for protest and discussion.[42]
