A list of puns related to "Electric Field"
So if I move some charge to somewhere else, let's say very fast, will the field around it drag somewhat behind? Or will it move with the charge regardless of the speed of motion (which would make it seem instantaneous), not being affected by the speed at all?
"This is Tigra reporting from hell, it seems to be snowing and the goblin has died of frostbite, fresh one is on order."
I wanna say sorry for not getting a chapter done for you people, not to mention this special having supposed to be a bonus to go along with 140, but holy shit what a week.
I will not be able to give any guaranties as to when the next chapter is coming out nor is the Christmas special I was toying with going to happen. I simply haven't got the minutes to spare these days since everything for our uni project just kinda went tits up at the last minute and now it's time to start prepping for exams in january... of which the first on Jan 3... yay...
With the whining out of the way, I do hope you enjoy part 4 of the special even if it's both late, and not the main story. I am sorry, but hopefully it's at least funny.

HoH Field Trip 2 Electric Boogaloo part 4
βRight, so we have Ray sleeping in the tub in her and Saphβs room. Jacky is refusing to leave the pillow fort. Fengi has learned that mixing perfumes is not the best idea. Essy forgot to charge her phone and thought she had broken it. Shiva has found a comfy chair, and I donβt dare wake her. Jarix has apparently run them out of sandwiches. And Saph is laying siege to Jackyβs fort,β Dakota went with a sigh.
βGreat success!β the human just laughed, turning to the poor woman that had apparently been assigned to see to it that they had a comfortable stay. βI guess we made it through without any major damage. We will see to it that the pillows are returned.β
βVery good. We shall try to acquire more food for the dragon. We really should have seen that coming, I do apologise,β the woman replied with

The answer that an atom has an equal number of protons and electrons doesn't satisfy. The simple model of an atom is that protons and neutrons are next to each other and, a bit further, electrons are around them. So, in my opinion, the only place where charges* cancel out is a circle between protons and electrons. Outside an atom, the negative charge* should be much stronger than the positive charge*.
Crucial edit here:
By writing charge (in places with *) I was thinking about fields. Nevertheless, the question is valid because if the charges were cancel out, there would be no electric fields.
I last saw him there when we played the Ravens this year. When the 2-pt conversion was no good, my buddies and I were going ballistic. Shaking each other by the shoulders, picking each other up, screaming our guts out.
The electric field E = (-2ax, -2ay, a^2).
Using guasses law (div(E) = rho / epilson_0), the charge density is a constant -4a*epilson_0.
This doesn't seem right. Why does a spherically symmetric charge distribution not lead to an outwards pointing field? I feel like I must be missing something.
Thanks!
I was reading up on displacement current and I have a question.

If I was measuring the amount of current flowing through this circuit with a very fast multimeter, would I see the current decrease as the leading edge travels across the circuit, as shown in the graph above? Also, when if I was to move the return path(bottom wire) further from the top wire, but kept the total length of the wire the same, would I see energy loss because the fields have to travel more?
Hello Smart Physics People,
I am working on a game with a few people for Global Game Jam 2022. Our game concept revolves around an expedition to settle on a new planet with a very strong magnetic field. I am wondering if such a field would have an impact on the efficiency of electric motors (if any), and if so to what degree?
Long story short, I've been looking into the practicality of using electric guitar pickups on a bowed instrument like an electric violin or cello. The way that normal guitar pickups work is that they have a magnetic bar/rod (usually alnico or ceramic) wrapped in a copper coil. Either the north or south end of the magnet(s) faces the guitar strings (which have a steel core) and when the string is plucked, the movement towards and away from the magnet interacts with its magnetic field. This interaction is converted into electricity and used to produce sound out of an electric guitar.
My issue is, when strings on a violin or cello are played with a bow, the strings move horizontally rather than vertically and barely affect the magnetic field of the pickups because of it. It's for this reason that conventional guitar pickups don't work well on bowed instruments for anything other than ambient noises. However, could the design of the pickup be modified to make it usable on bowed strings? (this would be easier to explain with diagrams, which I did draw up, but this post won't let me upload any)
My thinking is that since the string needs to move vertically (between the north and south poles of the magnet) to have a strong effect on the magnetic field but the strings are moving horizontally when bowed, could I reposition the magnets to be perpendicular to the strings and pick them up better? My thinking (am I most certainly am no physicist, I'm only speaking from a limited science background) is that if the magnet is centered with the string, then the string moving side to side should be moving in the magnetic field in the same directional manner as the guitar strings and, thus, have their signal picked up better.
I might need a stronger magnet than I would normally, but my question is whether or not is POSSIBLE enough for me to invest a few bucks and some time in order to test it or if it's just a lot cause from a scientific standpoint.
Here's a link to a website that might explain some of this better than I can: https://www.amplifiedparts.com/tech-articles/basic-electric-guitar-circuits-1-pickups
Hello and thank you for your time.
wikipedia: An electric field is the physical field that surrounds electrically-charged particles
E = FC / q
Now:
Base on my knowledge, I can only get FC if I have 2 charged particles because
FC = (1/4*pi*epsilon0) * (Q1*Q2/r^2)
Now If I only have 1 charged particle in a closed system (almost like a vacuum but there is 1 charged particle in the system) and nothing can interact with the system in any way.
Does that particle NOT have an electric field?
Because FC = 0 and so E = 0?
I am a student and I really need help (maybe its totally wrong what im building my question upon, I dont know.)
Thank you very much

edit: I have posted this question on /r/askscience as well, but after a few hours I figured they rejected it (this happens often and you dont get a message telling you). So I posted it here as well, after a few hours. Now I see it has been accepted. Sorry for the split up. Here is the other thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/askscience/comments/retekl/how_fast_does_the_electric_field_expand_around_a/
Hi everybody!I'm here to show you the last update I made to ElectriPy. The first time I shared this project it got lots of upvotes and suggestions. You can see how ElectriPy used to look like on the old post.
Among all the suggestions there was one that was quite requested: visualizing the entire electric field. The old version of this project only let you visualize the electric field vector at your cursor position. On ElectriPy 0.0.4 you can visualize the whole electric field and also modify its brightness! You can still display the electric field vector at your cursor position though, as I find it funny to see this vector go off the screen because the magnitude of the electric field is too large.
The installation is straight forward and the controls are super easy and intuitive. You can get more information at ElectriPy README.md. I have also added a document explaining the physics used for making this project, you can check it out HERE.
Any kind of contribution is welcome. Even correcting grammatical mistakes, reorganizing my repository or improving PyPi setup files (since I'm a newbie at uploading my programs on PyPi) really helps me!

Feedback and suggestions are welcome!
Edit: thank you for the awards <3
A friend of mine told me the time taken for a bulb to light up in a simple circuit with a battery doesn't depend upon the length of the wire but the distance between the battery and the bulb, is this true?
If electric fields or any types of waves can travel through a vacuum, what are they disturbing or using as a medium to travel?
I'm doing some E&M derivations and it's pretty clear to me how to find the electric field expression for an infinitely long wire containing a linear charge density lambda but I want to derive an expression for the electric field of an infinitely long hollow, thin cylinder with a surface charge density sigma.
My thought process is that I could take the electric flux through a gaussian cylinder outside of the cylindrical surface, however I think I can't figure out the discrepancy between the surface charge density and, in the example of the infinitely long wire, a linear charge density.
I'm sure I'm probably missing something pretty simple to see, sorry!
I am asking this question coz the constant current which also flows under presence of constant electric field is also reponsible for magnetic field.
Trying to better understand how energy propagates through EM fields due to current so I can better explain it to my students. Thanks!
Right then last part of the special to come out before we get back to the main story. This was all supposed to be out in a week but damn if that plan didn't take some heavy fire.
But here is part three so let the shenanigans continue!

HoH Field Trip 2 Electric Boogaloo part 3 (1-year anniversary special)
βWait, Iβm eating here? They serve dragons?β Jarix questioned, not quite sure what to expect. It was nice to be inside for a change, that was for sure. They had partially closed the larger entrance behind him, a kind of rolling door coming down from above. It was much warmer inside than it had any right to be given the lack of large fires.. He wondered if that had something to do with the amount of people running around. They were supposedly all warm after all, and well, he had felt Tomβs body heat a few times before. βyeah that must be it.β
The noise and smells though, They were the real party piece of this place. So many people were all talking vividly, and mostly about them. That wasnβt too surprising, he had started getting used to it by now. But the sheer amount of people who questioned if he could breathe fire was just getting annoying. It wasnβt like fire was any better than lightning. He had promised not to do a demonstration though. It didnβt seem like a good idea anyway with this many people around.
βWell, we are going to find out,β Tom replied, looking back over from talking with what must be some kind of waiter, or perhaps they ran the place.
Looking around, he tried to concentrate on some of the various smells. The amount was staggering, but the

Now, I was actually supposed to announce this last time, but I kinda got distracted. Slash might be a bit of an idiot at times. But The first even Hunter or Huntress canon story not written by me, will launch this weekend on October 30th if things go to plan. Title. HoH: Black Scales (I wonder what it might be about). It will be announced on the discord too and I'll likely stuff a few links in here and there when it does.
We've been working on this for a while by now so hopefully it's going to be good. With that all cleared up. Let's get on with the shenanigans.

βSo, what would you like to order?β the very kind waiter asked, having made it around to Ray. The others had already ordered except for Jacky, who was talking to the second waiter. Ray had tried really hard to read the English menu but was struggling to say the least. Luckily she was sitting next to Saph, who was quite good at reading the stuff. There was just so much to choose from though.
βI have no ideaβ¦ What is aβ¦ burger?β Ray questioned, looking up apologetically. The guy looked rather taken aback, clearly considering his response to that one. βOh no, now I look like an idiot,β Ray cursed as she felt her ears lower a bit.
