A list of puns related to "Direct Fuel Injection"
Does when the gasoline is injected affect its cooling effect? Naively, Xresidualheat-Yevaporativecooling+Zcompressiveheating=Xresidualheat+(Zcompressiveheating-Yevaporativecooling)
I have a new CX-5 and after 9,000 miles, I'm smelling gasoline in my engine oil and via the air system, especially right after I start the car and turn on the a/c, cool air, or heat.
What is the problem? Is this common? Dealership has checked and found no leaks.

Like I said above, I know how they work, I just don't know what exactly makes direct injection better.

It's not cheap so this is not good news for people living on council estates claiming benefits or for low income families.
I am doing some reasearch on DFI systems and I was wondering if someone could orient me with finding empirical evidence on how DFI systems changed over the last two decades. Preferably, I would like to know how they changed in terms of fuel efficiency: if they had become more, less or equally efficient through time with respect to conventional engines. I have some data on their relative performance in terms of fuel consumption or CO2 emissions, but I need to know if this relative performance has changed over the years. Thank you in advance.
