A list of puns related to "Customary Land Tenure"
I recall it being done wen I was younger, but when I travelled in 2019, it never happened.
We still do it?
This is my dream job. First choice. I thought it was out Of reach. This morning I received an email from the chair congratulating me and informing me that they'll be coming back with details on the start up package, coverages etc. I have heard that the startup package is supposed to be negotiated but I'm not sure how. Frankly I do not want to negotiate it because of the fact that this is my first choice and I don't want to take any steps that will jeopardize my chances of getting this role. Has anyone experienced this dichotomy? How can I circumvent it, or better, take advantage of this opportunity in a manner that does not undermine my chances.
The GeΓΎyncΓ°o states that "...if a ceorl prospered, that he possessed fully five hides of land of his own [7] a bell and a castle-gate, a seat and special office in the king's hall, then was he henceforth entitled to the rights of a thegn."
This made me question just how many ceorls possessed any number of hides at all. How exactly was it possible for hides to be representative of enough land to sustain a household if there were people who were landless and worked on the manor of a thegn or other landed noble?
Additionally, with the land tenures of folcland, lænland, and bocland, would they have been applied to individual hides or have nothing to do with them at all? If it's the former, how would any king draw out new estates to be acquired without displacing the people living on folcland or confiscating lænland/bocland?
I'm assuming the landed nobility must have held their estates as bocland, but who did they acquire these lands from unless folcland was converted by way of a royal charter granting ownership?
In the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) most young women from the age of ca. 18 get a yearly pelvic, vaginal check-up at the gynecologist's in oder to do scans, see if there is potential cancer in the ovaries etc. It is very strongly recommended and at least all my female friends do it yearly.
Is this also a custom in your country?
I go to pump my gas at a single location since I moved to NJ over two months ago. So far I experienced good customer service so I tipped the attendant(only one attendant manages the station) twice a month and generally I am there five times a month. Is it customary to tip on every instance you receive the service or once in a while is enough?
