Hi guys, I have been looking into crypto platforms recently but am facing a gulf of information. With this post, I am looking to consolidate experience and information on the various crypto platforms people use!

For those who invest/trade in crypto, which platform do you use and why? Binance, Binance SG, Coinhako, Gemini, Luno, eToro, Kraken, Crypto.com, etc.

Binance: good, use other platforms to transfer funds in as low return coins,

Binance SG: good for buying and holding, simple enough, 0.6% fees, possibly better spot prices, but only holds 8 coins, 30k limit, does not allow limit orders

Coinhako: alright, good for SGD deposit, some issues with customer service

Gemini: good (on par with binance), good for SGD deposit as well, use activetrader on desktop, 0.35% fees, possibly worse spot prices), allows limit orders

I am an expat who lives in Turkey. I have never been in Tunisia since when I was a baby. That's why I have almost zero knowledge about Tunisia.

I am a cryptocurrency holder and Turkey is making some regulations about cryptocurrencies and exchanges. We are still do not know if it will impact in a bad way or not but I want to make a Plan B.

This is exactly what big-blockers warned about years ago. Small blocks lead directly to custodial ownership of coins. Small blocks do nothing to disrupt finance.

I understand cashing fiat or buying goods or services as being taxable, but how does taxing swapped cryptocurrencies as capital gains even work?

The cryptos themselves are neither goods/services nor fiat, so it's the same as taxing an unrealized gain.

Not only that, the value of cryptocurrencies can change a ton. Why would you tax an exchange between two cryptos that several months prior to the tax deadline added $20k to the USD value of your portfolio, but you chose to hold, and at the tax deadline, the USD value of these cryptocurrencies were nearly the same? It's taxing USD$20k that never existed. Does the IRS expect you to sell your crypto and pay up?
