A list of puns related to "Compact Linear Fresnel Reflector"
As yet, the largest Compact linear Fresnel reflector power plant produces around 125 MW, but we believe that Egypt's sunshiney goodness is capable of raising the yield to upwards of 200 MW. If this program is successful, and we build one in each of our twenty-seven principle regions, then it would be a new power source roughly equivalent to 2.5 times the output of the Aswan Dam - enough to cater for a huge proportion of daylight electrical needs, without having to raise storage capacity.
The soon-to-be-built four Russian 1200MW reactors will be complete in 2022, and diverse power sources is the key to ensuring that Egypt continues to grow into its role as a regional energy exporter. The development of the solar technology will decrease our dependence on oil and gas, allowing us to export them more.
Despite Egypt's status as one of the richest and most well-powered nations in Africa, brownouts are still a reality for many. By perfecting this technology, solar powerplants will be able to be built indigenously, and our daytime power needs can pass to the limitless Sahara Sun.
[Our mastery of the technology(https://www.reddit.com/r/worldpowers/comments/6yei9i/tech_compact_linear_fresnel_reflector_capable_of/) has opened the door, and now four plants will be built across Egypt, in order to assuage some of the most pressing power shortages.
I recently purchased a small fresnel reflector for lighting fires while camping. My question is how do you calculate the ideal distance from the center where the reflection would be the hottest? I know it also has to do with whatever the curvature/diameter of the reflector itself. Is there an ideal curve for a reflector? Could you also add a magnifying lens at that ideal distance to say "amplify" the heat? Ive had ideas of running a stirling engine on one of these for some time.
See the link for a very basic indicative layout.
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1852210
This is just a rough example of a proposed layout, supports not shown.
Bottom section is a Fresnel reflector with a concave lens in the centre.
Middle section is a Fresnel lens with a concave lens in the centre.
Top section is a parabolic reflector.
The idea is to take sunlight from any angle and focus it onto a spot below the bottom section.
I have not tried to work out the correct focal lengths.
The idea is to create a cheap system that efficiently captures sunlight without having to do motorised tracking, this could them be used to power a Stirling engine for example.
What do you think? I think it might actually be over complicated by the addition of the middle section.
Thanks!
p.s. I am not an engineer, in case you hadn't guessed...
I'm currently working on a project for my engineering degree and am struggling with calculating outputs for a solar oven. I mainly want to focus on viability within the UK and am unsure what to use as a Q value (for the amount of energy provided by the sun) within my Stefan-Boltzmann equation. I've seen the average proposed as 1kW of raw sunshine on the earth surface, however I've also seen that the distance from the equator means that this value is only 60% of that within the UK (600W). My main question is because this is diffuse light is this then negated because of the concentrating aspects of the reflectors or do I have to use 600W as my base value?

Hey all! Change of course from my original plan which I described in my previous post, so now Iβm selling this MSI RX5600XT. Itβs in great condition and is essentially brand new. Itβs seen ZERO load, I didnβt even boot up any games on it. Installed it, realized the gains from my other hardware wasnβt worth the price, and uninstalled it.
I also have a Razer Blackwidow Elite with the Razer Green Switches that have become annoying to listen to, so Iβd like to trade and possibly throw in some cash for another Razer keyboard with red switches, preferably a Huntsman Mini or Huntsman TKL, Iβll also take a Blackwidow Lite with the Orange switches if anyone happens to have one. Iβd also be willing to sell it outright for the price mentioned below!
RX5600XT - SOLD FOR $350
Razer Blackwidow Elite - $75 Shipped OBO

Any linear switches will be fine, I prefer the color of the keyboard to be white or anything i.e keycaps, base, plate that has white on it. As I do have a white setup.
