A list of puns related to "Chinese Proverbs"
I saw this Chinese proverb on a reddit comment section the other day.
Unfortunately I didnโt save it so I lost it forever. The proverb was about how if you prepare for something for a long time, thatโs basically the same as procrastinating and youโll never get anywhere with that. I know this is a very vague description, but does anyone know this exact proverb?
Thanks!

To all: Have a fantastic day/evening/night!
I'm curious what everyone's favorite Chinese proverb / idiom / saying is and (if relevant / you remember) from what drama / context they learned it (please mark drama spoilers accordingly, of course).
Also explain what it means / where it comes from, and perhaps any hilariously abysmal attempts you've seen of subs trying to explain or simplify it.
Or if you have questions on if something was a proverb, ask away as well!
I learned a lot of proverbs through my parents, so not always dramas, but I'll start with a couple:
Corrections are good. Corrections are healthy. Put on some chill music, take a shower, put on a face mask, make yourself a margarita, put on that silk kimono that's been collecting dust, plop yourself on the couch, and enjoy your Sunday. Plenty of gains to come.
Hi, is there any Chinese proverbs on meaning such as 'Things will come in full circle' or 'Things will return to its' rightful place' ?
thanks
Something like: "they think you've gone, but really you're hiding in the dark looking at the light". What is the actual proverb saying?
A Chinese person once told me but I can only half remember it.
Iโm always impressed by ancient Chinese proverbs, one of my favourite goes like this,
>โItโs better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener at warโ.
Life comes in cycles.
We have times of peace and prosperity, technological revolutions, and economic growth โ times many think will last forever.
Inevitably nirvana ends and we have recessions, depressions, pandemics, and war.
Most men do not read, let alone study history.
Their only point of reference is their own lives and maybe stories passed down by their mothers and fathers.
Smart men look back in history to uncover patterns and trends that will reiterate in the future.
With the understanding that hard times WILL come, they prepare for war.
So how can you be a warrior in the modern age?
1. Get your finances in order
You should have enough money saved to last you at least six months without cash coming in from your job or business. This is your safety fund and will give you peace of mind if anything goes wrong. Half a year is more than enough to figure out your next move. Ideally you should work on developing multiple streams of income so if one thing fails you still have money coming in.
2. Strengthen your body
A men should not be weak. Our bodies are built to work. I recently watched a video of a guy who was hitting the gym at 99 years old, even when he turned 100 he was still going. When you stop using your body, it starts falling apart. There is no excuse for being a fat ass or a skinny twig, hit the gym and prepare your body for any obstacle that might come your way.
3. Learn a martial art
This is something on my to-do list. Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, Karate, Boxing, wrestling, Muay Thai, it really doesnโt matter what you choose. Learn how to defend yourself in one-on-one combat.
4. Learn how to use a gun
It doesnโt matter what your political views are about gun-ownership itโs important to learn how to use one just in case you might have to. You might enjoy catching an Uber everywhere you go but itโs still a good idea to learn how to drive a car. You might get your food cooked for you, but itโs still a good idea to learn how to cook.
5. Master your mental health
When shit hits the fan the biggest obstacle wonโt be enemy bullets, poverty, or a virus โ It will be your mind. The mind can destroy a man even in times of prosperity, during hard times it is much more fragile. The best d

I am looking for some suggestions of Chinese proverbs/sayings to go on my momโs gravestone. I am the daughter of immigrants of central China, and unfortunately my speaking and reading abilities are pretty limited so I really donโt know of any proverbs/sayings.
Recently, I found a post from this sub that mentioned the phrase โ้ณๅฎนๅฎๅจโ which describes the impression of someone who passes away, as if their voice and appearance were still present. I think itโs beautiful, but was wondering if itโs commonly used on Chinese gravestones or if there are any other sentimental Chinese phrases that are commonly used.
Creating this gravestone for my mom has been extremely difficult because of the cultural disconnect I feel since I donโt fully speak and understand Chinese, but itโs important for me to incorporate that aspect of mine and my momโs heritage onto her gravestone. My mom died young (53), but she was fearless, selfless, kind, and lived her best life, and I want to display a Chinese proverb that will captivate the deep, lasting impression she left on this earth. I would so appreciate any help.
