A list of puns related to "Chinese Festival"
In an uncommon occurrence, a Dark/New Moon falls on February 1 in 2022.
Imbolc is the solar station of halfway through astronomical Winter. The pastoral Celtic tradition, which is likely based on weather patterns rather than daylight measurement, marks the beginning of Spring on Imbolc.
The Chinese traditional calendar begins the new lunar year with the second New Moon after the winter solstice (provided there isn't a third from a leap month, none in 2022). This month is popularly just called the Starting Month. Chinese New Year is formally called the Spring Festival ๆฅ่ and like Celtic Imbolc, marks the beginning of Spring!
Does anyone know if there is anywhere that has a festival, celebration or event open to the public in honor of the upcoming Chinese New Year this year? Or are any local businesses doing anything special in honor of the occasion?
Went to it today and my god the hoards of people was insane. Dodging people while also simultaneously waiting in long, crowded lines for everything really took away from the experience. Definitely try it on another day of the week if you can
I went there and there were so many pretty displays there.
On the 8th day of the 12th month of the lunar calendar, a festival seemingly dedicated to congee (porridge) is celebrated.ย Many customs of the Laba Festival are related to Buddhism.ย According to written records, large Buddhist temples would offerย Labaย rice porridge to the poor to show their faith in Buddha.ย It is traditionally regarded as the prelude to Spring Festival, the most important festival for people of Chinese origin, reminding people to start their preparations for the coming festivities and for wanderers to return home and reunite with the family.
Laba congee generally contains at least eight ingredients, a fortunate number in Chinese culture. There's a wide variety: glutinous rice, red beans, millet, Chinese sorghum, peas, dried lotus seeds, andย other ingredients like dried dates or chestnut meat.
Hello, we were on the verge of purchasing tix to the Chinese Lantern Festival and then my friend told me there was lots of waiting involved to get into the festival, which is not ideal with a 2-year-old at 6 p.m. Anyone been that can comment on the wait? Is it manageable? Crazy crowded? TIA
I just saw an N&O post about upcoming events and saw the Chinese Lantern Festival will return later this month at Koka Booth. Iโve heard about it but never been. Anyone here been in the past? Worth checking out?
Just looking for thoughts on what you think this will mean for the market overall and any thoughts on how it might affect the hedgies โฆ.
Not looking for dates or expectations, just some discussion.
Buy - Hold and repeat when you can!!
Wouldn't it be interesting if the Chinese Moon Festival has a part in sending AMC to the moon? Hear me out for a minute. While Evergrande and other Chinese companies stock loses value, Chinese citizens cannot access their stock market until Wednesday due to the country being shut down for the annual Moon Festival. Meanwhile, Evergrande stock continues to fall, their subsidiaries are being liquidated now or very soon, and one other company's value dropped so quickly they stopped trading until further notice. This means they will scramble to sell stock when their market opens Wednesday. Even though the market is trying to snap back today, it may tank again on Wednesday. This could potentially be the catalyst for the MOASS, but what do I know, my brain is smooth as silk and my top hat is made of tin foil.
The Chinese Mid-Autumn Moon Festival is literally a celebration of the moon: "The Moon Festival is also an occasion for family reunions. When the full moon rises, families get together to watch the full moon, eat moon cakesย and sing moon poems. Together, the full moon, the legend, the family gatherings and the poems recited during the event make the festival a great cultural observance. That is why the Chinese are so fond of the Moon Festival."
I want to eat moon cakes...
