Hello-
Is anyone running CATIA 3ds on an Azure AVD machine?

Are they personal or pooled VMs? Any suggestions on AVD sizes are best to run on?

Any thoughts or insights welcome!

In part design, i have a some holes on the left part of a plate. I use the symmetry function to make the symetry of these holes on the right side. But after that, i add another hole on the left side.

I want to modify the symmetry function to include the last hole i've added. But i cannot find a way to do it.

I could delete the symetry function and add another one that includes everything but that would break links if the first symmetry function has been referenced.

Hope you guys can help me out

This isn’t a question, rather a simple operation that I frankly struggled to find. If you’re a catia pro, probably won’t be of much help, but if you only have to touch it once in a while, things like this can be a headache

Put your curve into a geometric set. You can do this by clicking the curve in the model tree, hitting insert from the menus at the top, geometric set.

You want to first define a point at the curve endpoint. Points are defined in start -> shape -> generative shape design. Click on the point tool in the toolbar, change from coordinates to ‘on curve’, use ratio of curve length option, set to 0.

Now we want to define a bunch of points along the curve. Select the points by repetition tool. Looks like some points and arrows. Select your curve and point you just made as references, and put in an appropriate number of instances to capture your curve’s complexity. Click on the edible body checkbox to avoid clutter in model tree.

To export the points, we will put the points in a point cloud. Go to start -> shape -> digitized shape editor. Select the points you generated in the model tree, and click on the point cloud tool. It looks like a magic carpet. Make sure to hit apply and not just ‘OK’.

Now you have an exportable point cloud. Click on the cloud and look for the export took, looks like a block and an arrow. Export it wherever you’d like.

Now you have a plain text file of XYZ coordinates that define your curve. You can fit a curve to these points to back out an equation, extrapolate from the curve, interpolate, whatever your heart desires (or as we say in engineering, whatever your application requires).

I was planning to start modeling on Catia, I used to model on other softwares previously but searching on thier site it seems like there is more than on version of Catia to use which one is the best? Also what are even the differences?..thanks on advance!

Where can I get a "3D Interconnect Catia V5 Translator" license for Solidworks 2021?

Also, where can I find software to validate the translation of Catpart files?

What’s everyone’s thoughts on these? I’m personally pretty stoked about Catia as an option to fit on my Gojo TA3 team since I don’t have Ouki!

Hello there, I have a question but first let me introduce myself a bit I finished my mechanical engineering degree in spain a year ago and now I'm doing a master. I've been focusing my career on dynamics, vibrations, and machine parts design. I've been using solidworks a lot but I've never ever used catia

My question is: do you all think it's a good idea to start with catia now or keep improving my solid skills

I'm also studying to improve my english to be able to find a job abroad.

(Pd: I want to focus on vehicle's parts design and that stuff)

On Dassault's website we can read that certifications owners have better paid job opportunities, salary increase and other advantages but how valuable precisely are these certifications on the job market ?
