A list of puns related to "Bushrangers"
Introduction
I do want to say I am in no way an expert on this topic, and as matter of fact I'd consider myself a novice on the genre in general, despite all the songs I've listened to (as I don't know much about the minutiae of music), in short this is by no means a peer-reviewed study. This will basically be a list of songs with some speculation and explanation thrown in based on the surface level similarities in the variety of folk music I listen to. I was inspired by listening to a bunch of the aforementioned music and seeing how similar the instrumentation is, general concepts are, and how broad the categories of Land Shanty and Sea Shanty are, and this is the best place to voice my thoughts on the matter. I'll be referencing songs by The Longest Johns, Great Big Sea, The Dreadnoughts, The Clancy Brothers + Tommy Makem, The Dubliners, The Foc'sle Singers, Planxty, De Danann All-Stars, Stan Rogers, Ewan MacColl, A.L Lloyd, Pete Seeger, Robin Jeffery, and Gary Shearston (with links to all if you'd like to take a listen). Please let me know your thoughts about what I've typed up and if this is too wide-ranging and doesn't really fit the sub. I'm not aware of any other communities that this would really fit in
Australian Bushranger, Drover, and Shearer Songs (ABD&S Songs) and Irish Folk Tunes/Sea Shanties Influence on Them
ABD&S Songs derive in part from Irish Folk traditions, such as Jim Jones at Botany Bay being sung to the tune of "Irish Molly O" (https://youtu.be/Qkgb1VqFZ7c) or "Skibbereen" (https://youtu.be/Cj4ifPsTe2I). I couldn't find a version of Jim Jones sung to the tune of the former, but here's a version sung to the tune of the latter by Gary Shearston (https://youtu.be/2t7Y5k9OIdg). Another example would be the two versions of "The Wild Colonial Boy", one where it starts off in Ireland (https://youtu.be/j3QJPxiLOPo) and the other where it takes place fully in Australia (https://youtu.be/BsiCOTR8XcY). However, they also take noticeable inspiration from Sea Shanty traditions which A.L Lloyd himself commented on his 1958 LP Across the Western Plains: (https://youtu.be/UXWoaUIptPU you'll see the text referencing that at 33:06 in the video). You'll notice in both Gary Shearston's and A.L Lloyd's ([https://youtu.be/sbJ9UpmBuYI](https://yout
