eosinophilic esophagitis heartburn/bronchospasms

Hello there. I’m just seeking some insight regarding eosinophilic esophagitis. I was diagnosed in Dec. 2020 and have been symptomatic since I was about 14 years old. I am now 22. My gastroenterologist put me on Pantoprazole 20mg to take daily and then Pepcid when I have a flare up (heartburn) I really sucked at trying to figure out my trigger foods, but to be fair my Dr. didn’t act like we needed to do that? He mentioned we could try an Allergist if needed… now I wish I had immediately taken action on that. I’ve cut out beef, pork, soda, candy, juice, fried/fatty foods, fast food, spicy food completely. Of course I slip occasionally, so I don’t have a for sure answer on trigger foods.

Fast forward to recently. Still having heartburn flare ups probably once a month, trouble swallowing still, bloating, back/jaw locking. My heartburn is severe and lasts approximately 6 hours every time. Then I developed a cold in October 2021, tested negative for everything and have been sick since then - Dr said bronchitis. I’m never the type to get sick like this. I made a trip to the ER due to extreme pain in my stomach, wheezing, cough continued, heartburn. I also had some sort of allergic reaction to where my entire face was swollen and eyes puffy for about two weeks leading up to my ER visit - zero idea what could have caused it. ER said I was having bronchospasms and gave me an inhaler. All bloodwork/exams/x-rays showed I was healthy. He suggested possible autoimmune disorder? I have a high eosinophil count on blood work. Cough is subsiding, but bloating/heartburn/swallowing issues remain.

I am seeing gastro next month, but I would just like to get my life back :/ tired of always being afraid to eat and always in stomach pain.

Thanks!!

Anyone here having chronic bronchospasms/respiratory issues possibly from using Philips dreamstation?

I have been sick since November 8th. I have a horrendous cough that's mostly dry, I am always holding back a cough, I'm short of breath, get headaches...I feel miserable. I can barely talk without coughing. Been to ENT/Pulmonologist/primary/ER and no one can give me an answer as to what is going on and why. All labs are good as well as x-rays. Has anyone else experienced a similar thing?

Exercise induced bronchospasm and history of mild asthma

MEPS is asking me to get an x-ray of my chest as well as pre and post evaluation for a pft because I had mild exercise induced asthma when I was younger. The results from the x-ray said that it indicates (title) but when I finished the pft the woman said my breathing was in the proper margins when she compared the results of my breathing after using an inhaler to before using it. I haven’t had any issues with asthma since around middle school age during a soccer game. Should I be worried about being disqualified over this?

Adult asthma, bronchospasm, albuterol inhaler

Hey all,

I've had bronchospasms (never heard of the term before my dr told me) for a couple weeks - it feels like when I try and take a deep breathe my lungs are irritated and triggers a cough reflex. Chest a bit tight. Overall though when I need to breathe I feel like I can breathe despite irritation. Was surprised dr said it's likely asthma-related and prescribed an inhaler. I have been taking it for about 36 hours every few hours and while it seems to be helping, I kinda thought it should be faster (since he said albuterol are like the fast acting inhalers). While it does seem to be knocking it back a tad, my symptoms are still there but my coughs have now become more "productive".

Does this all sound right? Never used an inhaler before.

Airway clearance and bronchospasm

So I recently got a pulse ox to just keep track of things at home. I find I’ll feel tight and like I need to do airways clearance but I’ll be satting around 98%. Then I’ll do some postural airway clearance, lots of coughing, wait a few minutes and my sats will be 95% even though I’ve cleared a good amount of sputum and feel like my chest is more clear with deep breaths. Does anyone else experience this? Is it just bronchospasm induced from coughing or something else that is dropping my O2 sats? I hope I’m not doing any harm with aggressive airway clearance. Thanks in advance for responses.

Besides bronchospasms, what else does albuterol help with?

I’ve seen it ordered for secretions For atelectasis Hyperkalemia Tachypenia

Is it really useful for any of these issues? Why is this medication ordered so frequently? I’ve traveled around the country and this is being done everywhere. Maybe I need to be educated, but does it really benefit my patients if they aren’t constricted?

Bronchospasms

I have had a persistent cough for the past year. No doctor has been able to diagnose it because scans come back normal and it is sporadic. Their best guess is allergies but OTC meds don’t help. The cough starts as a tickle in the back of my throat then it progresses into bronchospasms.

Has anyone had luck with immunotherapy or can recommend any other treatment?

Thank you!

Asthma/bronchospasm from taking NAC?

I took 1800mg of NAC per day for a couple of weeks and experienced the marvellous effects but then developed an asthmatic reaction (bronchospasm), which I've never had in my life before. My GP treated the asthma with steroids and an inhaler and it went away. A month later I started NAC again and within two weeks I suffered the same reaction. I stopped the NAC again but this time the bronchospasm lasted a month or two. My GP then told me that NAC is contraindicated in asthmatics for precisely that reason. Can anyone confirm that?

Bronchospasms after smoking

So I've had an off and on problem with bronchospams after smoking (specifically stronger stuff, mostly indica). Bronchospasms are when your muscles in your bronchioles tighten and make it hard for you to breath out.

I don't have asthma (I've been checked twice) and I've been smoking for about a little over a year consistantly. Recently I was at a party where a lot of sativa (unnamed) was passed around and I went home with a nice high and functioning lungs. The day after, I smoked some indica I have (first time from this strain) and I had thought I was having an asthma attack.

This has happened semi-frequently since February this year, so often that I have an emergency enhaler (albuterol sulfate) that helps almost instantly. I fell down with a case of pneumonia and I quit for a while and have sence fully recovered, but every few weeks or so I have these sort of "attacks."

I usually smoke out of pipes, but I also smoke out of bongs and a dry-herb vape pen at around 375-390 degrees F and it doesn't seem to have any corrilation as it still remains random. I don't cough up anything, and if I do, it's usually of thin consistancy and clear color that I assume to simply be snot caused from alergies.

Another one of my concerns is that this has just been an insanely bad year for allergies in the South-Eastern United States (as it has been), and that is what's causing it, but I can't be sure. I've talked with doctors honestly about my condition but no one can make heads or tails as to definitive causes or cures aside from albuterol.

TL;DR my lungs tightens up after I smoke sometimes and no doctors know why

If anyone has any advice or experience with a similar situation, I would appreciate feedback. I'm going to try canna-tea with the same strain of indica and see how that effects me, but I'm not expecting another bronchospasm. Just a nice, brain-massaging buzz for the day

UPDATE : so I had some canna-tea of the same strain and it was more or less just a long lasting, relaxing high. This is my first time making canna-tea so it probably wasn't as strong as it could have been, but as expected, no bronchospasms.

Bronchospasm

Every day for a month I would wake up the same way.

I open my eyes, and my heart starts racing

My blood pressure rises

My hands begin to sweat

And I feel a familiar tightening in my chest.

There was no way to get enough air into my body. Every time I inhaled, my lungs gave out.

I was drowning in my own fluids.

I know what it is. It was summer, and pollen was everywhere. I knew I just needed a new inhaler, and everything would be fine.

And then it wasn't.

Every morning after I got the inhaler, I would wake up the same.

Every moment I spent awake was panicked. My lungs screamed for air. My body thrummed with a steady rhythm of fear.

And every morning I would see you

I tried to hide my problem, and control it. Even if every second I was with you, I felt as though I had just run a marathon, I did my best to seem calm and controlled.

You went away in a month.

And my breath came back.

I was too out of touch with my own feelings to realize you made me nervous. My body knew before I did.

You were blocking the air to my lungs. I couldn't breathe because I knew I would get to see you.

I didn't have my childhood asthma anymore, I just had feelings for you.

No one had ever made me nervous before.

Now I walk around, and I think about seeing you. And when I do see you, just for a moment, my lungs constrict.

You aren't mine, and you never were.

I would give up every comfortable breath to try again.

Question about paralytics and bronchospasm

I'm reviewing a few things here in the 4th year and I came across something that I could use a little help with. I was told by an anesthesia doc that using paralytics can be one solution for bronchospasm that occurs peri-operatively (or in other situations, potentially). Now that I think about it, I'm not sure that this makes sense. The paralytics hit skeletal muscle by way of inhibiting the nicotinic receptors, but the bronchial smooth muscle operates with muscarinic receptors. What am I missing, here? Thanks for any insight.

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Just because it's a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB

Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"

I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual

So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes

r/unclejokes for dirty jokes

r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC

r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes

Punchline !

Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
