A list of puns related to "Avulsion"
6 september I broke my finger during warming up, but still played the match. I went to the doctor who sent me to the hospital. MRI scan told that I had an avulsion fructure, that my joint was broken and that a piece of bone was dislocated. Due to my finger being in a really weird position I had surgery. They placed a K-wire into my bone and this needs to be in my finger for 6 weeks (which was 3 weeks ago).
So in 3 weeks the wire gets removed, but I am really curious when I can resume GK training and how people felt to resume training, which is why I made this post. Anyone got any similar experience?
A non-dentistry friend was asking for quirky dental tips and one of the things I told her was about tooth avulsion and to either gently rinse it with water before reinserting or place it inside milk and go to the dentist ASAP (within an hour). Then she asked what kind of milk, and funny enough I didnβt know until I looked up online but soya milk actually also helps preserve the periodontal ligament cells https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23244625/

Howβs it going everyone, hope all are well as can be. Though itβs unfortunate to meet here Iβm glad there is a community of people who can discuss the challenges of this injury and share support during recovery.
My story- Iβm a 22 year old male, I was having a wrestling match with my friend after a bottle (or two) of wine. He had me in a bear hug and tried to bring me to the ground. We both basically fell on top of my left foot as I was trying to stay up. I felt a pop in my mid foot and immediate pain; I havenβt been able to take a step since.
I went to the ER the next morning with pretty significant swelling but no obvious bruising at the time. The X rays were negative, and I received a diagnosis of βleft foot pain.β I hoped it would feel better over the next week but saw no obvious improvements and still couldnβt comfortably stand, let alone walk. I took a second trip to a different ER which performed a CT scan. Turns out I had three fractures: second metatarsal, third metatarsal, and lateral cuneiform. They werenβt significant, and the PA believed I had avoided a lisfranc injury entirely, though couldnβt be sure and referred me to a specialist.
Today, I visited a podiatrist whoβs first question was βhave you ever heard of the term βlisfranc injuryβ? That wasnβt a good sign. The second metatarsal fracture showed some bone fragments indicative of separation of the lisfranc joint. He was quick to say that he didnβt believe surgery was necessary, which I was glad to hear. However, after two weeks of not bearing weight I have four more weeks of NWB in a boot followed by two weeks of WB in said boot.
Honestly, itβs more of a mental challenge than anything. I know Iβm very lucky to have avoided surgery. Has anyone experienced anything similar?
Also, at this point the swelling has decreased significantly, as has most bruising. Is this a sign of recovery? Iβm welcome to any ideas and perspectives. Thanks and best of luck to all.
21M, 6'2" Injured myself while playing, and I guess the title is pretty self explanatory.
I had partial nail avulsion procedure on my toe about 3 weeks ago, when should I stop redressing the toe? There is little to none discharge on dressing when changing it. Thanks
I fractured my ankle at work on monday september 13th. I received xrays so i know it is fractured. It is swollen but there is no pain or uncomfortableness. Is this normal? And what should i do? It is not numb or tingling it just actually doesnt hurt
I, (25F, 5'1", 125lb, no prior medical history) rolled on the outside of my right foot after jumping earlier this week. Saw a podiatrist in an orthopedic group and was told I have a Jones fracture. He said the fracture was caused by a ligament pulling on the 5th metatarsal when I rolled my foot. I was told not drive or bear weight at all for at least the next 4 weeks until my follow-up and given a CAM boot and crutches. He emphasized that if I try to walk on it, I'll risk non-union and may need surgery.
I wanted to know if this is truly a Jones fracture and if 4 weeks NWB seems reasonable or too excessive. Could I be doing any harm by staying NWB for too long?
