A list of puns related to "Assisted Opening Knife"
Need to find a thin slip joint knife. Iβve seen sodbusters and stockman knives, but they are so thick. Iβve only ever seen one that is thin, and it was a custom made knife. I only want one blade, btw. Any recommendations? (I suppose a kickback would suffice)
Hello!
I've been buying a range of very cheap, assisted opening knives off Amazon for the last few years, and all of them have sucked horribly. They become very flimsy, the blades become wobbly, feels like in any sort of self-defense situation, they would just be completely inept and useless.
I've considered fixed blades for everyday carry, but I don't want to have this enormous intimidating knife on my belt that makes me look like some kind of freak (plus not sure they'd even allow that at my day-job as I do lots of day-to-day, face-to-face interaction with customers, so not sure how they'd like me to have this huge fixed blade on my side), so I'm thinking, I'd like to stick with an assisted open knife that I can carry clipped inside of my pocket for easy access + deployment, but I'm looking for one that's really sturdy, really durable, that's not gonna become all floppy and flimsy after just a few months of use. One that holds up over time.
Any solid recommendations? Pricewise, I'd prefer to keep it under $60 or so. Thanks!
Hey r/knifeclub!
I've been really enjoying this subreddit, it's really opened up the world with how many beautiful knifes there are! Anyone have suggestions for a slim profile knife?
I recently bought the CRKT CEO but the darn thing is so hard to open. Looking for something with some spring in it.
I really like manual flippers on bearings and recently I've found a new love of front flippers! Curious to see what you all love
We are located in Albuquerque, NM, so we're under APD, BCSO, and NMSP jurisdictions.
My husband just got a sweet new pocketknife which arrived today from Amazon. While showing me all the neat stuff it can do, he did something and the blade snapped out very quickly, and I immediately asked to see it. It is the Kershaw Brawler with SpeedSafe assisted opening. He has bad arthritis, so having an assisted-opening knife seemed like a good idea.
However, New Mexico law is pretty restrictive with regards to knives; even in elementary school, I can remember someone bringing a butterfly knife onto campus and the cops and administration getting very serious about it, and that was in the early 90s before zero tolerance became ubiquitous. The American Tool and Knife Institute has a page about it here, and KnifeDen goes into more detail here, specifically
> Switchblades are illegal to own, carry, manufacture, buy, or sell in New Mexico. These include any knives whose blades are opened via a spring-loaded mechanism triggered by a button or similar mechanism, gravity, centrifugal force, or, as State v. Riddall demonstrated, a combination of these methods. State v. Riddall established that the state considers balisong knives to be illegal switchblades despite their functional differences, making them illegal to own or carry in New Mexico.
The relevant statutes seem to be NM 30-7-8 and 30-7-2.
From examining the knife, it looks like the back of the blade protrudes a little at the handle to push in, which swings out the blade, but the speed of it has me nervous about it being construed as a switchblade, and cops in my area tend to be very skittish to the point where we had to have the DoJ come in and investigate the whole department because cops kept killing people with mental illness.
I know there's no accounting for the whims of a bored or excitable cop, but what do you guys think? Is there precedent for assisted-opening knives being lumped in with switchblades? I'm scared to let him leave the house with it, but we live in a pretty sketchy part of town and he walks to work.
Thank you for your time and consideration!
So I'm looking to pick up a new EDC knife. I work in a hospital, so I don't want anything more aggressive than a box cutter. That being said, I'd much rather carry a folder. I've been using my CRKT K.I.S.S. which is far too gimmicky and impractical - the 2 piece construction and single bevel are cool looking, but terrible for cutting/ergonomics.
I'm hoping to find something in the 2" range roughly, spring assisted, no serration. I'd spend up to $100 or so, more if it's really worth it. That doesn't mean I need to spend $100, mind you.
Thanks for your help!
Title.
I have had a Gerber assisted opening knife with a 3.5in blade for some time now. I use the word "had" as I left it at a customers house while doing work, and he says he cant find it. Water under the bridge, so I need a new knife. I would like a 4in blade, was looking at a SOG Slimjim XL but the handle seems rather thin and the locking mechanics worry me. I guess I am overwhelmed here, there are so many choices, and the ones the look awesome all have smaller blades. I live in Texas, so if I wanted I could open carry a freakin sword, laws are not a issue here.
TL;DR Can I get some input on a decent Assisted Opening knife with a near 4 inch blade ($50-$120). I like the style on the SOG Slimjim XL but worried the handle is to thin. Thanks!
