What if, on Jan 30, 1900, Boss Bill (Governor William Goebel of Kentucky) escaped death at the hands of assassins and survived to challenge the national Democratic leadership, beating out Woodrow Wilson for the Presidential nomination in 1912. As a pro-German, would he have changed history?

Goebel was a populist politician, and by all reports a very smart individual. Had he survived the assassination, his family history with a strong bend towards Germany (he only spoke German until he was six) would have inclined him to favor Germany in the European War that started in 1914. While it is doubtful he would have even considered bringing the USA into the war on the side of Germany, it would be very likely that he would have kept America out of that war. How does the world change?

What If Theodore Roosevelt won the 1912 Presidential Election instead of Woodrow Wilson?

In 1912, after seeing a Republican Party he molded into a party of progress turn back into a party of big business and reactionary politics, Theodore Roosevelt declared himself a candidate for the Republican nomination but, due to the limited introduction of state primaries and caucuses, party bosses aligned with President William Howard Taft, who barely won the nomination. In response, TR bolted from the Republican party to form the Bull Moose party to run on a progressive platform. In that year, the Democrats nominate New Jersey Governor Woodrow Wilson as their presidential candidate to run on a platform of "small government." So, let's say Teddy wins in 1912 and gets his third term as President of the United States:

Would WWI have started? What would America's role be in WWI? Intervention or isolation?

What would further progressive legislation look like under a third Roosevelt term? Would there be a split in the Democratic or Republican party? If so, would it be significant enough to effectively kill one of the two major parties?

How would the Democrats and Republicans react to Roosevelt breaking with Washington's two-term tradition?

How would the 1916 election look like?

And what about the rest of American politics? Does the Bull Moose party and progressive ideals remain in the political lexicon or do they slip away from people's mind during/after WWI?

I have a few ideas about this myself but, I'm curious to what r/HistoricalWhatIf thinks about this scenario.

Why Woodrow Wilson is the worst human being that has ever existed (AMETSFAN response)

Hello everyone, the other day, I saw something absolutely horrifying. I saw a post in which someone dared to have a different opinion on the 28th (and worst) "President" Woodrow... WIILLLLSSSOOOONNN!!!!! (Cipher reference!! XD). I was so outraged at the fact that he did not mindlessly praise Theodore Roosevelt (BEST PRESIDENT!) and instead praised a literal dictator that I have written a response post and why he is the worst "human" being in history.

  1. Wilsonianism sucks
Okay, first off, literally the worst world view ever thought of, Wilsonianism. Wanting world peace? Are you serious? Don't you know that there are poor, poor, innocent imperial world powers that need to start wars over who gets to enslave who? God, Wilson was such an ignorant fool who knows absolutely nothing about World History, unlike me who can name every single Holy Roman Empire state in the year 1600 and browses r/HistoryMemes and r/PoliticalCompassMemes so you know, I'm a pretty smart guy, unlike Wilson.

  2. Wilson wanted WW2 and the Holocaust to happen
If you have seen Cipher's videos on Woodrow Wilson, you would know that he is responsible for the Holocaust and 9/11. This, however is only the surface of the iceberg. After some deep research on Woodrow Wilson. I have discovered something that sends shivers down my spine... Woodrow Wilson knew and wanted WW2 and the Holocaust to happen. In an actual quote from Woodrow Wilson in Birth of a Nation, he says:
"When The Great War that will happen and will be won by the Entente happens, I will intentionally have a stroke during the Versailles peace conference. I want to have a stroke so the UK and France are free to do what ever they want to Germany. By doing this, Germany will turn evil and try to take over the World and kill 12 million people. I know this will happen and I want it to happen because I am an evil racist."
Wow... I can't even.. Woodrow Wilson intentionality had a stroke because he wanted WW2 to happen, disgraceful.

  3. WW1 bias
In Cipher's video on why the US entered WW1, he complains about how Wilson was biased towards the Entente. What the hell Wilson? Why are you so biased against the side that has absolute monarchs as governments, started the War in the first place, commits genocide, commits war crimes, and sinks neutral American merchant ships? I hate it so
