A list of puns related to "White Sewing Machine"
I'm fairly new to vintage & antique sewing machines and have so much enjoyed reading the posts and comments in this community and subreddit. I recently picked up this White Rotary treadle sewing machine from someone on Craigslist.
The machine works great; I have been able to wind a bobbin and do some minimal stitching to test her out. Much to my delight, the drawers were filled with old sewing notions including wooden spools of thread, attachments, needles for the machine and an old, almost crumbling apart manual.
I am dying to find out more about the wooden piece next to metal needle plate with the patent numbers listed on it. Since buying this machine I have looked online at tons of other White sewing machines and I'll be damned if I can find another machine with that wooden piece on it. Is that something a previous owner made to replace a lost or broken part? Or were those standard at some point? (Apologies for my clunky terminology as I am still learning!)
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this, and thank you if you can provide any more information about this beautiful machine!

... keep reading on reddit β‘I have an antique sewing machine and I know it runs and works but I donβt know how to run it. I have questions and I donβt know what to Google because I donβt know how to use a sewing machine. I am frustrated and confused and I just need help. Right now I have the top needle threaded and the bottom bobbin in place and I donβt know what to do. I donβt know where the thread goes or how to pick it up or how to make it sew. The bobbin is loaded correctly but I donβt know my next step.
Or sew it seams
Make it sew.

I am almost ready to do the quilting for my first tops. I have a Bernina QE with BSR foot.
Iβm afraid I may have too much fabric/area to fit through the arm opening. How large can I reasonably shove through the opening?
I have two tops that are in the 100β x 100β range and two throws to practice with. Iβm wondering if I should start planning to send the big quilts out or if theyβre worth trying on my machine if/when I am comfortable quilting smaller sizes?
Add: Iβm experienced with sewing including large, heavy wool coats etc. Iβm fairly new to quilting.
