Hi GYW folks! I've been lurking for a little while and this is my first real post. I love the passion for the well-made you all have.
Background:
I custom ordered these via Quoddyβs website after consulting their customer on sizing.
Usage/Niche:
I bought these to be my go-to summer shoes. I was planning to take a cruise last fall (although the CDC nixed that plan), and I was wanting shoes that I could wear everywhere on the tripβ from on the ship to shore excursions walking through a variety of terrains, from beaches to trails to cities. I figured the lacing and lug soles would provide better fit and traction for longer walks.
Acquisition
I customized them on Quoddyβs website and submitted the order. I ordered on Aug 27th and they shipped Oct 8th, so about a 6-week turnaround (which was longer than usual due to COVID circumstances).
Cost
$236 with a discount code for my first pair. Full price is $295.
Construction
They are Blake stitched with the Vibram βcomfort lugβ outsole stitched directly thru the leather midsole and liner. There is a leather-topped memory foam footbed glued in. Horween Whiskey Cavalier leather with gold βglove leatherβ lining.
Aesthetic
They look different than boat shoes, which is what I was going for (something *other* than the usual boat shoes). The comfort lug sole is just a tad thicker than a normal boat sole, but not chunky looking either. They are a trade-off for better on-land traction. The leather is gorgeous and smells like a leathery dream come true. They look best suited for fall, but I think are fine for spring and summer, too. Winter is reserved for boots, of course.
Quality/Quality Control
I have two QC issues with the shoes. 1) There was some discoloration on the outsoles (Quoddy resoled them for me) 2) Thereβs a stitch that looks like it was pulled too tight and actually went through the surface of the leather. Both cosmetic issues, but stuff you would expect on factory seconds, not made-to-order firsts.
Durability
The leather has aged quite well so far. The creasing has been nice and tight. I have used shoe trees consistently. The Cavalier leather has a smooth surface but it is a bit prone to scuffs. The rubber on the sole is a bit soft, which is good for shock absorption, but it wears somewhat

Trying to decide if I want to give it a watch. I do love TV's Scott Foley. I was wondering if the show has that same tone or voice that Bill Lawrence brought to his other shows. Seems pretty different. I know it got cancelled after one season, but so did Firefly and Kitchen Confidential. Thanks.
The Series got cancelled after season - 1. I kind of liked the series and sad to see this go. Who wants this series to comeback ?
Ollerman attempts to force the team to commit a terrorist attack for The Trust using Rayβs life as leverage; Jai helps Standish deal with a revelation about his girlfriend; Will and Frankie come to a realisation about their relationship.
Nobody cares Shawn. Nobody cares.
The team heads to Europe to transport a dangerous prisoner for interrogation and the prisoner is Willβs former boss; Jai helps organise a Secret Santa gift exchange for an off-season Spy Christmas
The team must return a kidnapped baby to its parents while also taking down the human trafficking network that led to his capture.
Will must seduce the widow of a shipping tycoon to gain access to a list of criminal clients, but Frankie doubts his ability to deceive a grieving woman; the bureau assigns the team a new liaison, who happens to be the last person Will wants to see.
Not trying to be snarky or anything...legitimate question here. The previews clearly showed that Whiskey Cavalier wasnβt meant to be taken seriously. Itβs supposed to be a romantic spy comedy. Why so much hate? I like a funny, lighthearted show every now and then.
Will goes to a dark place as he and the rest of the team are tasked with hunting down the culprit behind unsettling attack.
Frankie is forced to prove herself when Will is captured during a mission to take down an international organ harvesting operation; Will spends his time in captivity trying to bond with Jai; Standish seeks Frankieβs help to improve his combat skills.
London, Will hits it off with a British spy, leaving Frankie with some unexpected feelings; Jai competes with Susan over who is more intelligent; Standish deals with a case of shell shock.
Frankieβs commitment to professionalism is tested when the teamβs mission to take down a massive drug operation reunites her with a former guardian; Jai and Standish discover that Susan has been writing psych evaluations on every team member.
Will, Frankie, and Susan are joined by Willβs new girlfriend as they head to Spain in a mission to retrieve a case of plutonium from the wrong hands.
Though it has its faults, I like a cheesy, funny, goofy dramedy that doesnβt take itself seriously.
Iβm kinda hoping it gets renewed for another season but I havenβt seen anything yet. Anyone know/seen anything?
Will and Frankie continue to clash, and their growing pains may jeopardize the teamβs next mission in Rome where they are sent to prevent a terrorist attack.
After an emotional breakup, super FBI agent, Will Chase, is assigned to work with hard-hearted CIA agent, Frankie Trowbridge.
I don't listen to her podcast but I know she had an obsession with Scott Foley, enough that his wife got weirded out and tweeted some pretty mean things about her. Curious what she thinks about Scott getting his own show!
The team goes undercover at a college to take down its new target, an engineering prodigy suspected of building a super weapon period.
