A list of puns related to "Vinland sagas"
The sale is over everyone, I hope B&N loses its mind again next year. If so, we'd probably hammer them for Berserk Deluxe 10 & 11 lawl. I'm sorry for anyone who missed out, but if B&N did this once, we can only hope that they do it again.
ZOMG thank you for the awards, my first gold ever!! Actually I think it was the first time I got any of these awards. I hope some of you walked into your B&N with a stone cold poker face and walked out with an order for Berserk Deluxe 2-9 for $200. I'm glad a lot of you got some really good deals from this! It beats saving money for the next Right Stuf publisher sale for 40% off.
EDIT EDIT TL;DR:
I'M SORRY MULTIPLE TIMES I TYPED "SHIP TO STORE" WHEN I ALWAYS MEANT "SHIP TO HOME" I WAS AS CLEAR AS MUD MY APOLOGIES
UNTIL THE END OF THE B&N SALE (AT THIS POINT BEING THE CLOSE OF TODAY WED DEC 29) THE B&N SHIP TO HOME ORDER SYSTEM HAS BERSERK DELUXE (AMONG OTHER TITLES DISCUSSED BELOW) AT HALF PRICE.
YOU CANNOT GET THIS PRICE VIA WEB ORDER. YOU MUST GO TO THE STORE. EMPLOYEES CAN NOT CONTROL THIS PRICE. YOU MUST MAKE A SHIP TO HOME ORDER, IN THE STORE.
SOME EMPLOYEES WILL TELL YOU THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY FULL PRICE. THEY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE COMPUTER SYSTEM'S PRICING. IGNORE THEM AND POLITELY REQUEST A SHIP TO HOME ORDER ANYWAY.
IGNORE WHAT YOU'RE TOLD IF YOU'RE GIVEN STATIC AND REQUEST A SHIP TO HOME ORDER. EMPLOYEES WILL TELL YOU no discount for j00 lawl AND YOU ARE TO SIGNAL COMPREHENSION AND PROCEED WITH THE ORDER ANYWAY
REQUEST A SHIP TO HOME ORDER. YOU ARE NOT COMMITTED TO BUY THE ORDER YET. YOU CAN LINE ITEM VETO BOOKS THAT ARE EXPENSIVE.
REQUEST AN ORDER. GET THAT SHEET OF PAPER WITH YOUR BOOK LISTING ON IT. IT SHOULD SHOW BERSERK DELUXE 4 @ 24.99, BERSERK DELUXE 5 @ 24.99, ETC

LOOK AT YOUR ORDER SLIP FOR BERSERK DELUXE AT HALF PRICE, GO TO THE CASHIERS TO PAY FOR IT, AND GO HOME AND FUCK YOUR GF. or bf. waifu, husbando, it don't matter cuz I GOT BERSERK FOR HALF HAHA
If your store flat out refuses to do a Ship To Home order, you're fucked, I'm sorry, they're also fucked because who turns down money, and you should look at hitting a different B&N. The nice store will apply the 50% to any and all HCs in your order, even the ones that list at full price, so good luck to you. Each store is run differently so the policy o
... keep reading on reddit β‘Vinland Saga is one of those shows I constantly told myself to check out, but never did. So when I heard that it was finally dubbed, it gave me the extra little push I needed to check it out.
I had heard there were 2 dubs of it because of a split between streaming and home video licenses. Being the (over)analytical person that I am, I wanted to do a mental exercise in comparing them, so a little while ago I set myself both some time and money to be able to watch both dubs in their entirety and scrutinized them, and here was the document I wrote out, reformatted to the best of my ability for Reddit.
Fair warning: This is a LENGTHY post.
Also, all of my evaluations for every aspect that I wrote out here is simply my opinion. You are by all means welcome to disagree where you feel appropriate. :)
Scriptwork:
Netflix:
Dialogue sounds more modern.
Some liberties taken from the actual translation (script is technically less accurate to the Japanese, but for the most part still manages to get the point across).
Character dialogue sounds like it flows a bit better, overall. Fewer instances of awkward pauses mid-sentence and no βstutteringβ from characters (i.e. characters saying the same word twice to try and fit pauses in lip flaps in some sentences).
Sentai:
Takes a more conservative approach, staying more true to the Japanese dialogue, but still does occasionally take liberties to give certain moments with certain characters more βoomph.β
Characters pause mid-sentence and stutter more with this script.
Has a tendency to add in bits of dialogue or sounds (grunts, gasps, sighs, etc.) here and there in moments where there was not meant to be any dialogue (ex: Thorfinn pushed a random guy out of his way in the beginning of episode 8. In both the Japanese version and Netflixβs dub, Thorfinn didnβt say anything as he did so, but in Sentaiβs dub, he said βassholeβ).
One egregious error: Thors calling Thorfinn βThorsβ in episode 4.
Swear words are used more religiously.

I just watched the 1st season of Vinland saga and it was epic! I wanted to continue with the story so I started reading the manga where the show left off. Though In chapter 57 I was totally caught off guard with the nudity/partial nudity. Iβve been checking other Reddit posts and Iβve only seen people discuss that the scenes are there but never what chapters have them. I would like to skip over the scenes that have that sort of content so if someone could help that would be great.
I have a friend who has noticed I have been really getting into manga and I was looking at what he should read to start that is well known but not short or a huge series like One Piece that is still going.
What is everyone's thoughts of having Vinland as his first manga? I think it has a great mix of great character and story with art, comedy and action. Thoughts?

EDIT (CLOSED)
Thanks so much for participating everyone. It's always great to know why people love the manga they do and it will give me ideas for my next manga to read and collect! u/Karnith_Zo was the random winner but hopefully I'll do more giveaways for y'all.
Basically, its not just about Vinland saga but anime with fight scenes that boils your blood....and anime that is more like fighting based.....like Samurai Champloo or Vinland saga or Dororo......u get what I mean? Also, I am not a big fan of those supernatural, magic types of anime fight scenes.....animes whose fight scenes are more realistic and badass. If you have seen a series called Vikings, something like that is also valid with war and fight and action and adventure. I think you get a general idea. Not all action-adventure anime creates the same impact. Most of the battle shonen have badass fighting but still, something about these historical action-adventure animes like Vinland and Samurai Champloo is different and good......well plz recommend if you get what I asking for.
happy new years everyone! hope everyone has a fantastic 2022 and cheers to buying more manga this year.
all g5, never been read.
also have a almost complete set of slam dunk but still indecisive of selling it, hence why i didn't put in this post. if you do want pictures of it, I'd be more than happy to send it. also please free to send offers for it as well! im all ears
SLAM DUNK SOLD.
Basically I am looking for anime where a weak MC or a kid becomes a deadly and ruthless fighter/killer after some tragic incident in the past or something, u know. I have been recommended to watch Ruroin Kenshin, but its too long for me, still, I will give it a try, but if you guys have some other recommendations then let me know. Also, its better if the anime is not about magic and superpowers and more realistic like Samurai Champloo and Dororo or VS.
So if you have any recommendations then let me know. Thanks.
I've seen a lot of animes but I've never binge watched an entire anime before. Well, up until I watched Vinland Saga that is.
The story is one the most complex, well developed, and sympathetic stories I've ever seen. It drops all pretenses of a typical anime and goes out of it's way to build realistic and understandable characters that fit perfectly in the time period that they exist in.
The relationship Thorfinn and Askeladd and their development through the story is indescribable. No amount of words typed here can do justice to just how complex and well written both characters are within this story.
This isn't your typical anime story where the protagonist gets angry and win. Quite frankly, this is the opposite. This is a story where the villain wins, the hero suffers, but throughout all of it the hero learns and grows. And despite the villain being the most inhumane scum of the earth, you can't help like him and realize that the story is centered around him just as much as it is around the hero. You see innocent people do terrible things, you see villains do great things, and there is no particular character that comes out of this story untouched. Everyone eventually comes to reflect apart of the fucked up world they live in, and become active participants in what makes the world hell.
It's a great story about human beings. It doesn't shy away from the realities of war and corruption of man. Nothing I type here could ever do it justice. Go watch it for yourself.
I prefer trading but also open to selling. Open to anything would would prefer complete sets

Just the last episode of vinland and I almost cried, the ending was just beautiful. And now I'm looking for something similar to vinland. Stuff that has Vikings and based in real settings.
