Was watching Raised by Wolves last week and thought i recognized a location from an episode of Doctor Who, and then i just started Vagrant Queen and there it was again so i got curious. After a little digging i found its the abandoned Macassar Beach Pavilion.

I really don't see the tv show yet, but when I saw the trailer, in the commentary section it had a lot of hate comments, and I really don't know why, I think it looks like a really cool sci-fi show, but I don't know why is so hated, I think is because of dark matter cancellation but I don't know, maybe is a bad tv show
Does anyone else feel like Vagrant Queen is a copycat of Killjoys, at least thematically?

WHY?! This show was AMAZING, why would you cancel it after only one season? You guys did almost not ads/marketing for this compared to your other shows and have renewed shows that performed WAY worse....Wynona Earp vs Vagrant Queen, no comparison....TV needs more space operas. This show would have been HUGE if given the time and attention to grow. Please bring it back. It seems like for some reason you guys wanted it to fail or somehow come out on top despite being given a set up for failure. It wasnt even prime time for very long. What gives?
Adrift in space, the team find themselves in the middle of a very strange murder mystery.
Arriopa is in chaos; Elida makes a final push to stop Lazaro, but a shocking new threat arises.
The team arrive on Wix to unexpected revelations; betrayal leads to a bloody showdown.

So I grew up with Scifi channel shows, SG1 Atlantis, eureka, etc.
And I remember when Battlestar Galactica came out, it was not my thing, I have never been a fan of gritty, give me a bit of comedy and camp.
After Battlestar Galactica the new stargate was announced.....and me and my friends just that it was battlestar gatelatica. I felt like gritty was the new scifi.
Vagrant Queen feels like they tried to course correct back to the SG1 and Eureka days.....but some how over shot their target.
I really wanted to write a review of it but literally that is all I can think of, they tried to go back to those days and way way over compensated.
That and this might be the most 80's thing I have ever seen, to a degree to it's determent you can tell the laser blast effect they went with was an attempt to get that 80's art style feel but it just made the laser blasts look all the more fake. The ship effects had that same problem, the art style seems to make things look more CG.
The story, I dont think I can talk about as much because only one episode was out.
The characters themselves, at least most of them, feel like they are trying to hard to be unlikable, aside from like 2 characters.
What were everyones' opinions on the first episode?
Elida leaves the team to take a scav job while Isaac and Amae battle hijackers on board a train.
The team is forced to stop for repairs, but the cannibals who reside there have other plans.
