Title says it all. I'm very used to the makeStyles and withStyles syntax from MUI v4 and struggling to conceive how to best organize reusable components going forward in the new v5 styling format. I'd love to hear people's experiences with Emotion and how it benefits your workflow.
My main issue with it is it adds a lot of visual complexity within the return of an FC, or if using styled it adds a lot of boilerplate at the top of the file with new component variables before ever getting to the function body while also having to use these newly named components (not a huge deal, but weird compared to what I'm used to). But I recognize how much more performant it is compared to JSS, and retaining natural CSS syntax when writing classes is certainly a plus.
I'm curious how best to go forward with it in terms of creating style classes that can be overriden by the parent. Reading the source code for MUI v5 components is, at present, kind of obfuscating how they're doing it, but I think mainly it's because of how much I'm used to the old JSS syntax. I'd love to know of good resources that can go over how to best use Emotion in this context, and how to unlearn MUI's JSS implementation. Additionally, I'm unsure how best to type it in Typescript so when writing the classes prop it can give intellisense completion. I'd love to hear your experiences!

The past months I've been working hard to ensure compatibility of my Denon Prime related tools with the new Engine DJ 2.0 and Engine OS 2.0.
I'm proud to announce that the Denon Conversion Utility (DeCU) and companion tools are fully compatible with both the old and new Denon Prime software.
But there is more, the new Denon Extractor Tool (DeXT), that converts from Denon Prime to Rekordbox.xml can now write direct to a Rekordbox 6 collection. So no more Rekordbox XML import required.
The update to the new DeCU distribution is free for all licensed DeCU users. Clicking the gear symbol at the top right hand corner of the DeCU opening screen downloads the latest version. Please follow the instructions in the setup tutorials to ensure proper installation.

I'll be completely honest, I'm not sure I like it, but simply from a legibility standpoint. Functionally and performantly I agree it was the right move, but from a syntax point of view I find that Emotion or Styled-Components add far more visual complexity when attempting to read a file vs using withStyles or useStyles. It was nice having all the styles separated from the body render so you can better visually look at the component flow, but I also can see the benefit of the css prop.
I'm also not finding much in the way of how to best organize my own components to have overridable styles compared to how it was done prior, as reading the source code for even the Button component in v5 doesn't give a clear picture.
But, I understand that Emotion is leagues more performant than JSS, especially when handling props. In addition, I'm unsure how best to type the style classes in TS so that intellisense can give code completion for the available classes. So I'm curious about other people's opinions on this. How do you like the new syntax? Are you going to use tss-react to retain the makeStyles syntax, or go with Emotion?
My car was idling low and when I took it to a mechanic they told me the timing on the engine was off. He said it would be about $1700 to fix. I personally would like to fix it myself, if I can. It is a manual and I'm only somewhat familiar with cars. I just haven't come across too many people that know anything about this kind of engine. Any advice?
My family has had this car for a while now and it runs more or less without any issues. They gave it to me once I got my license and the only problem I’ve had is that every now and then the engine almost pulses in power. It could happen at any times and I usually notice it, it’s especially noticeable when I’m stopped with my foot on the brake and the engine starts doing it. The brake pushes back as the revs drop slightly and the engine assists the brake booster less and then the brake goes soft again so my foot will float on the pedal up and down. Also while driving I will feel the engine accelerating and then slowing down in waves. So far it is very rare and hasn’t had any serious impact other than scaring me too much to accelerate properly and making me feel weird when I’m braking.
It’s had this issue since before it’s most recent service. Previously there was thought to be an issue with the timing chain but the most recent service has confirmed that the chain is fine and the engine is more or less in perfect working order (as much as an early 2000s VW can be with 132,000km on the odometer). The only warning code was to do with the camshaft but the mechanic couldn’t see any issues.
Any ideas what the problem could be and how serious it is?
I've been looking for a good flavor rta/tank since ive gotten tired of my crown, and would like something different in my rotation besides my herakles plus, supertank mini, and my avocado 24. Ive been really looking at the kayfun v5 clones.. Problem is I can't decide which clone is best. Coppervape clone is only 13 on gearbest but I havent heard much about it. Tobeco, sxk, and smjy are all pretty close after reading review but more expensive. Anyone have any opinions on this?

So i just ordered parts for new drone and it dawned on me that i havent even thought about wiring it. The part thats bothering me is that both FC and ESC have battery connectors. Does that mean i just connect both to it?

Blue Smok Alien w/ Batteries - 9/10 shape, got it from the Ecig.com deal for the mod and two LG HE4s. Just the mod, not the kit.
Black Serpent Mini - 10/10, has had two builds in it grand total.
Advken Mad Hatter v2 Mod/RDA - 8.5/10, has the usual chipping of paint around the bottom of the mod from use. Comes with the black/gold Mad Hatter v2 RDA, and if the RDA doesn't suit the interests...
SS Avocado 22mm - 9/10, looks fantastic on top of the Mad Hatter mod. Not much else to say about it; good ol' fashioned Avocado.
SS Herakles RTA-2 - 8.5/10, daily use tank for the last few months. Excellent tank and was replaced by an Aromamizer Supreme, else it'd be on the mod and in usage.
SXK Kayfun V5 Clone - 9.5/10, fantastic little device. This is up for trade in case someone wants to trade their authentic. I picked it up specifically because I wanted to see how the draw on it was, and since the clone suits the tastes, I want the authentic.
Kanger TopTank Mini w/ RBA Deck - 7.5/10, paint chipped quite quickly and truth be told, can't stand the thing. Just has the RBA left on it, though you can pick up replacement coils or...I dunno, throw it at someone who has wronged you.
Let me know if you have an Authentic Dotmod RTA, Blue Dog3 RDA, OBS Engine, or Kayfun V5 and are interested in trading for any of the above and what you would want out of the lot. I was told by the devs of a Unity3D game that supporting headless Linux game server is not possible since moving from Unity 3D v4 to v5 (no graphics card on VPS, even while faking X with xpra).
The server comes up fine on using desktop Linux based Xubuntu box. Can anyone confirm the ability to run a headless Unity3D v5 server that has no graphics capability?
I know both but am a little rusty. I plan to retake a course in one next semester to regain the knowledge.

Long time lurker, first time poster. In fact this is my first Reddit post ever(other than a couple of test posts to try to check the syntax). The only other social media I have an account on is Linkedin and that doesn't get used too much. My username doesn't mean anything it's just a random collection of letters and numbers.
I didn't even know the term homelab until I came across this subreddit probably a couple of years ago now? I have read a bunch of posts here, and have seen r/homelabsales and r/DataHoarder as well. It has been interesting to see other people's perspectives.
I never viewed my systems as a lab really, I have been hosting my own DNS/email/web/etc on the internet since about 1996. In my earliest days I volunteered at a super tiny ISP that one of my friends helped start and that was my first experience hosting live systems on the internet. That ISP closed down eventually and the remaining services ended up being hosted out of my home(though never was paid, I did it for the experience at the time). Here I am ~25 years later still messing around.
If you just want pictures, and don't care about my stories then here they are, I have comments on each image on imgur, small fraction of what I cover below:
- Homelab starting around 2001 (most geeky I suppose)
- First co-location server starting around 2006-2008 (Actual pictures taken much later, nothing special)
- Home lab starting around 2011 (nothing special)
- Homelab in 2021 (a bit better)
- Co-location in 2021 (coolest, to me anyway)
High level what I use my homelab for
- DNS, Email, Web hosting my personal stuff.
- Some email/web/dns hosting for friends/family.
- DNS: BIND (host my domains and have internal recursive DNS as well)
- Email: Postfix + Cyrus IMAP + Spamasssin + Anomy Mail Sanitizer (config dates back to 2002ish)
- Web: Apache
- I could easily host all of the pictures I posted but used imgur since that is the more standard reddit thing to do.
- DB: MySQL
- Owncloud (been using it since before Nextcloud existed just have stuck with it)
- Backing up my DVD/Bl
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
