A list of puns related to "Unmatched count"
https://forms.gle/BZTdufB4bGG2ivRg7
Unmatched Count is an indirect questioning technique used to increase the number of true answers to possibly embarrassing or self-incriminating questions.
It's been shown to vastly outperform direct questioning^1, and it also performs better compared to randomized response techniques^2.
Using UCT scholars have shown, for example, that the number of atheists was greatly underestimated by previous surveys^3, and that non-heterosexual identity, same-sex sexual experience, and anti-gay sentiment were also underestimated^4.
Respondents will be divided into 3 groups: 2 for estimating sensitive behavior with UCT, and the third group will be asked direct questions.
Thank you in advance for all who participate.
Title. Applied rads, got a prelim but no advanced. 12 interviews but Step 1 of only 222.
I know that taking and passing Step 3 will help me a lot in my reapplication this year, but would a higher passing score help more than a lower one? Or is just passing enough? Obviously I'm not shooting for the bare minimum here, but I'm curious.
Didn't study much 1st and 2nd year of med school, busted my ass for Step 1 but by then it was too late and I was playing catch up.
Alternative title: why kinetic weapons are superior.
Hello. Obligatory "long-time lurker, first time posting, English isn't my native language" disclaimer.
The following story is my attempt to do HFY in a realistic hard-scifi universe while also playing around with some interesting ideas that have been theorised for real-life space warfare. Those all come in latter part of the story, however; the first few paragraphs are intentionally unrealistic and lead the reader to the wrong conclusions, as it is written from the perspective of a not-so-bright alien race which had gotten stuck in a kind of local maximum of weapons technology.
I've done my best to proofread this, but I'm sure a few grammatical errors have slipped by. If you notice any please call me illiterate in the comments.
Any constructive criticism is welcome, especially in regards to my writing style. I myself feel it's a bit overly dramatic, but I decided to roll with it anyway.
Hope you enjoy.

Long before my kind left the embrace of our warm sandy world, we dreamed of the great beyond and its wonders. The void called to us like a desert begging to be crossed. We obsessed over it, let it guide us forward and fill our imagination. Our science, culture, politics; all dedicated to a single goal. The stars were ours. It was our destiny.
Our works of fiction spoke of horrible alien creatures; entire civilizations from worlds far away. But they were not like us - visionaries and builders. They were mere monsters seeking only to subjugate and destroy. We engaged them in grand battles over our beautiful world, always winning by the tip of our whiskers. The battling ships would fly around each other like birds of prey fighting in the sky, each attempting to outmaneuver the other. As our technology advanced the first battle in space eventually occurred, but the enemy were not bloodthirsty aliens set on our destruction; merely a rogue colony demanding independence. The battles that ensued were quite different from what we had imagined.
Without the interference of our planet's atmosphere, our sensors could now detect enemy craft at distances never before possible, and without atmospheric drag our projectiles could fly effectively forever. Unlike in our fictional stories; these battles took place over such distance that the opponents could not even see each other, their crew relying purely on the ship's sensors. Anyone foolis

We're kicking off the new year with a best of losers rate, to see which of the four albums we have here can reach the closest to the highs of The Heist. Whether you had wanted Kendrick to win the first HHH rate or maybe you just hate the Grammy's in general, I hope to see you all participate as we revisit some well-loved, critically acclaimed albums from 2012-2013 and Magna Carta.
If youโre new to rates, welcome! A rate is essentially an event where we pit a few albums with a common theme against each other (try to guess this oneโs). Everyone listens to them, scores every song out of 10, and sends those numbers to myself. In about a month, Iโll tally everyoneโs scores and host a reveal where weโll see how each song stacks against each other, from the lowest to the highest averaged scores. Rate reveals are a fun time all around, we joke, we roast, but we also talk pretty passionately about the music we're into. Check out the past two reveal threads for a feel. And if you have any more questions, the Rate 101 tab on this Google Doc is a great resource, although feel free to ask in the thread as well.
Now letโs get into the albums weโll be rating over the next few weeks.

Chapter Nine - The Seven Deadly Virtues
Special Agent of the Interior Lamana Duvari was having a good day.
There was no reason she shouldnโt be. She was at the peak of performance for her rank. Her fitness reports were a model for others. Sharp, experienced, and well-honed in her craft, she was the Empressโs net, catching the Empireโs enemies and pulling them in to face the justice they deserved. She was everything that an Agent of the Interior should be, and as first daughter and heir of the House of Lamana, that was the only acceptable answer. Less than perfect was not an option that her mother ever indulged in her children. As sheโd become an adult, it was not an option she indulged in herself.
If that austere dedication had made enemies of other nobles, then those nobles should learn to wallow less in corruption. If Lamana had not only survived but thrived, it was because she was too damned good at her work for anything less. That drive had been instilled from her earliest memories, and sheโd applied it to every skill and problem. She wasnโt unrealistic about the shortcomings of others, but the failures of others were not her problemโฆ unless it impacted her mission. She knew who and what she wanted to be, and her recent triumph shutting down the crime ring lurking in the Yoshino asteroid belt had been complete and total.
A summons to headquarters wasnโt a new experience, and after her recent success, she entered the office of Minister Raโelyn with certain expectations. Lamana had climbed the ladder of success with an unmatched tenacity, and as she stood before the Minister's desk, she braced to attention and awaited her pleasure. Days like this,

Tasked with uncovering heretics in Barcelona, Father Maximus became notorious for his cruel treatment of Muslim and Jewish immigrants. By all accounts, his ability to elicit confessions through torture was unmatched in all of Spain.
Only one woman, a Jewish heretic named Talia, mustered the courage to endure his torture chamber.
What follows is Father Vazquezโs horrific response to her bravery.
---
Iโm at my witโs end. Iโve been interrogating the same woman for two weeks, but she still refuses to decry her heresy. How she has endured my pincers and strappado for so long, I do not know. She hasnโt opened her mouth once during her time in my chamber. Itโs as if she is unable to feel pain.
A priest with less experience would take her courage as a sign of Godโs grace.
But not I.
Her disdain for Catholicism clogs the air and fills her eyes every time she gazes upon the tapestry of the passion draped behind my desk.
So tomorrow, I will put her through my true test: exposure to The Artifact.
Itโs been years since Iโve used The Artifact, but I canโt think of a more opportune moment. For who better to expose to the horrors of Hell than such an insolent woman?
I pray that her descent into madness comes slowly. I want to savor her despairโsavor the crumbling of her faith.
Tomorrow cannot come soon enough.
---
My hands are shaking as I write this. Not only am I fatigued, but my mind burns with questions.
The hereticโs reaction to The Artifact perplexes me. Never before have I seen such an intense response to the pagan chalice.
Perhaps by relating my experience on this tattered page, I will make sense of what seems unexplainable on the surface.
I entered my chamber just before sunrise to find the heretic asleep in her chains. Her restful face filled me with anger. Burns and lacerations covered her body. That she could endure the inflictions of my instrumentsโmany of which I forged myselfโchallenged my ability to perform my holy duties. Given that Iโm the most revered inquisitor in Spain, I cannot allow peasants to make a mockery of my art.
I must succeed where others fail. My work is Godโs work.
To fail means to tarnish Godโs glory.
So I approached the heretic on silent feet and lowered The Artifact to her lips.
Her eyes flew open as liquid splashed onto her tongue.
โSpill a drop,โ I said, โand I will break your legs.โ

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Yesterday, I submitted this post analyzing the posting of Woj/Shams tweets on r/nba. I looked into the most frequent posters of these tweets and the speed in which they submitted these posts, among other things. u/JSP07 suggested that I make a similar post for highlights, and yeah that's what this is
As of 1:27 AM CST on 1/2/2022, there are currently eight highlight posts on the front page of r/nba. Six of these eight were posted by CP3_for_MvP. Yeah, six. That includes the top three, and particularly the #1 post currently: DeMar's amazing game winner at the buzzer from the corner. It was an absolute masterclass of a night from CP3_for_MvP.
I think highlights are the most important component of r/nba. It's a very glaring omission on subs like r/CFB and r/CollegeBasketball (in my opinion) and it's certainly a more core aspect of the forum than those silly stats posts. The problem is that you need people willing to go through the effort of uploading highlights for the community.
Unlike the topic of my previous post, I think the people doing this are having a truly positive impact on the subreddit as a whole (posting a Woj tweet in one second instead of thirty seconds really does not matter) and they deserve to be recognized. I guess all the upvotes and gold they get is recognition enough, but I'm bored and don't want to go to sleep so I'm doing this.
On September 4th, 2019, it was announced that highlight posts would be required to include a [Highlight] tag. Thus, this post will only analyze data for the [Highlight] tag era of r/nba. We'll be including the 2019-20, 2020-21, and ongoing 2021-22 seasons. Not quite as long as the six year sample size of my last post, but oh well. Standardization matters.
I scraped every post beginning with [Highlight] that wasn't deleted/removed and was a streamable link since September 4th, 2019 to today's date, January 2nd, 2022. Well, almost every post. I noticed that somehow the most upvoted highlight ever (Luka bubble GW vs LAC) was missing. I do not know why and I could not find any other missing posts. I added it in manually, but it's possible that other posts are missing, so yeah. Fair warning. Anyway, that leaves us with almost 13,000 data points.

Weโd started the chat because one of our managers, Kurt, was a pain in the ass: he didnโt want us talking in the office, especially not about things like our salaries or time-off requests. Kurt moved on, but the chat survived-used to vent, share memes, and generally find ways to laugh and commiserate about our situation.
It was a place where anything could be shared, from a stupid GIF to a personal tragedy--sometimes one right after the other. I never knew what to expect when I opened the chat, but I never expected it to turn soโฆsinister.
Todd: Is anyone else getting random calls from weird numbers?
I didnโt think anything of it at the time, and the responses were the usual mix of rumors, jokes, and bad advice:
Natalia: y dont u answer and find out lol
DeShawn: bruh its spam I get calls all the time
Emily: noooo once you answer theyโll call you forever
Emily: trust me I made that mistake
Emily: there wasnt even a robocaller
Emily: just this weird wooshing noise like wind at the other end of the line
Natalia: it was the tumbleweeds blowing thru my bank account
DeShawn: wait you guys are getting paid???
So it went. Until yesterday afternoon.
Todd: I answered one of the calls!!!
Natalia: tell us about your new timeshare
Todd: No really it was messed up
Todd: There was this buzzing noise
Todd: Like millions of Mosquitos
Emily: wtf
Todd: I hung up right away
Todd: but you know? I sort of wanted to call back

I've been a huge fan of dot density maps since I saw, many years ago now, the New York Times' and University of Virginia ones for the 2010 census. XKCD has a great one for the 2020 Election. I know it's not always the right visualization choice but for certain types of data, I find it's unmatched in how intuitive it is.
I knew the 2020 Census data was coming out and I thought it could be really cool to make a dot density data set for multiple census years as a way to visualize city and neighborhood changes over time. Here's the final dashboard.
I used Python, Pandas, Geopandas, and Shapely to take the census blockgroup polygons and population counts and generate the points. The notebooks can be found here:
1990 - https://colab.research.google.com/drive/19vkf2VdionnCnm7mA3EmFuQIloNi_n4Y

The core functions for the points creation comes from Andrew Guidus' post Visualizing Population Distributions with Dot Density Maps.

Theyโre definitely the best, but whoโs been the best since they stopped writing together? Was thinking about this as itโs a really interesting topic, and an interesting dynamic between the two writers. Itโs fascinating how just two people who know each other well can write fantastic song after fantastic song. But who are some of the best in your opinion? As this is a music discussion sub, I thought it would belong here, and Iโd love to get your thoughts.
Onto my personal favourites. Morrissey and Marr (of The Smiths) are probably my out right favourite. In just four years, they both created 4 instant classic albums and a plethora of singles. Morriseyโs lyrics are some of the most emotional youโll get. Heโs not scared to speak his mind on issues he cares about, while he talks to a whole generation disconnected from society (โI am human and need to be loved, just like everybody else does). All the while Marr has his jangly and happy guitar perfectly juxtaposing Morriseyโs melancholic lyrics. My favourite song where this is displayed is โThat Joke Isnโt Funny Anymoreโ.
My other favourite songwriting duo are Strummer and Jones of The Clash. Like The Smiths, they had a quite short career, yet delivered 5 classic albums (Not counting Cut The Crap as Jones had been sacked by that point) in 6 years. Their songwriting to begin with was without doubt slightly basic, but had a true punk message that resonated with people. Their writing just got better. By London Calling, they had a synergy unmatched, managing to make a double album with no dud song. They retained that punk spirit in their writing but, they had gone to the next level. Sandinista! is what amazes me though- 36 tracks on a triple album coming out just a year after releasing a double album. Iโll admit, it has filler, but to write so many good songs in such a short period of time, whilst touring as well, is unparalleled. And I forgot to mention, all while consistently changing genres and styles- from basic punk on the debut to reggae and jazz on London Calling to funk and dub on Sandinista!. They could write a hit pop song too. Favourite song by them is probably either โThe Magnificent Sevenโ or โSpanish Bombsโ. Whilst maybe not being as good as Morrisey and Marr, they definitely get most improved.
What do you think of my choices, and what are yours. Iโm looking forward to reading them.

I wanted to see how much the "algorithm hiding men" played a role in online dating success so I did an experiment with an average looking white guy 2 times.
Test 1: I just used his pics (profile pic being the most attractive) then saw how many matches/likes/potential meets I could get.
Results: I got 5 matches, 2 of which chubby and 2 transgendered. 1 was beautiful but far away.
Test 2: This time, I made the first pic of a male model similar looking to the average guy. Then I photoshopped the male model convincingly to pass as the normal dude. The rest of the pics were of the other guy, not the model. I also added 1 other fake pic from far away to make the discrepancy between the 2 guys less great. Essentially most of the photos were of the normal guy except for 2, the profile pic and an unimportant filler pic
Results were astounding: 30 matches, 2 potential cute dates, and 30 likes waiting for me. Nobody unmatched me because I spent about 30 minutes photoshopping the hot guy to pass as a very good version of the normal guy, so it looked like the same person
In conclusion if I paid tinder for a super boost and did this experiment again I'll bet I'd get a similar like/match/meet count

Because she wanted to see the task manager.
I recall watching this divisional playoff game. I was a little boy (7) and we had Christmas dinner reservations. The game was to my memory the late-afternoon game, with about a 4 PM Eastern kickoff, and lasted so long we had to quit watching to go to dinner. I remember my dad being mad later in the evening that the Dolphins won. Not sure why, he was a Packers fan.
The game lasted 82 minutes and 40 seconds, still unmatched. The result was also like a crossroads for the two teams. This was the first playoff win in franchise history for the young Don Shula-led Dolphins. They would upset the defending champ Colts in the AFC title game a week later, before falling to the Cowboys in the Super Bowl. They would then win the next two Super Bowls. So the game was the dawn of one of the greatest teams ever.
The Hank Stram-led Chiefs on the other hand were falling off the table. Just a calendar year earlier they had capped several years of excellence in the AFL by defeating the Vikings in Super Bowl IV. But after losing this game, the Chiefs would not make the playoffs again for 15 seasons, until 1986, and would not win a playoff game for 20 years and 3 days beyond this game, a December 28, 1991 win over the Raiders in a wild-card game. Stram would coach the Chiefs for three more desultory seasons before moving on to more losing with the Saints.
This was a star-studded game. Counting the two head coaches, 15 participants, 8 from the Chiefs, 7 from the Dolphins, ended up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The game also featured an outstanding performance from the Chief's Ed Podolak, who ran for 85 yards, caught passes for 110 yards, and returned kicks and punts for 155 yards. His 350 total yards is still the NFL record for a playoff game.
Happy Anniversary Miami!

liyue harbor- surrounded by mountains which are great for protection. since it's a trading/commerce focused nation, it would be a given that there would be many points of entry, specifically the harbor and the 2-3 bridges. because of that, there would be many entry/exit points to guard that would stretch the millelith quite thin. i imagine that they would be unmatched in naval battles as well. there is also the jade chamber which proves to be powerful and a good location for aerial attacks, which is unique to the nation. its vision holders are powerful and large in numbers, even if it's less than what mond has.
inazuma - an archipelago out in the ocean, surrounded by stormy waters. that's enough to deter most armies but i don't know if we could specifically count that in here since that's mostly the raiden shogun's doing. still, it provides great protection but also a vulnerability. since the islands are mostly separated, it would fall to the tri-commissions to defend their land separately. if any navally decent nation/army such as liyue were to attack, they would be vulnerable everywhere to shoreline battles because inazuma doesn't give off the impression that they have been on boats in ages. since the entire nation is quite large, attackers would have no choice to be spread out thin or to focus on one island at a time, which would give at least 2 of the tri-commissions ample time to gather strength or provide assistance. the tri-commissions are large in numbers but in my opinion, they're lacking in manpower. so far, their vision holder numbers are quite small.
in my opinion, liyue would be the most secure of them all. any thoughts?
