A list of puns related to "Under the Covers, Vol. III"
Hey, everybody! If you don't remember/didn't see, about 6 months ago, I posted a screenshot of the Under the Covers Vol. III tracklist, At the time, the website said the album would be released in the Summer of 2019. Seeing as Summer's almost over, and no new album is released, I wanted to put up a little update.
If you're not following the Ninja Sex Party Instagram page, they recently made a post that mentioned Under the Covers Vol. III is coming soon. On top of that, a few months ago Brian Wecht (Ninja Brian) made an AMA, to which I asked about the progress of UTC Vol. III. Brian replied something along the lines of "It should be released by November". I'd link the post, but I'm on mobile, and I don't know how (or even if you can) post links to other posts on mobile. If you dig through my posted comments, though, you might be able to find it.
Keep your eyes to November, and I'll see you all soon.
Edit: I found a way to link a post on mobile, so here's the AMA: https://www.reddit.com/r/NinjaSexParty/comments/aj5390/its_brian_im_on_a_plane_ama/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
I don't know if Dan or Brian have actually put out a specific release date, except for saying "Summer 2019", but does anyone know when it's specifically coming out?
Does anyone know when the preorders for the physical CD will open, and if it's gonna be on CD baby again? I've not seen anything myself yet and wanna make sure I didn't miss anything.
Idk if anythings been announced because i don't go on social media all that much, but out of curiosity, what songs do others think would be fun on an Under The Covers Vol. III? Below are a few I think Danny's vocals would sound good with.
- Time After Time
- Under Pressure
- Space Oddity
- Fox On The Run
- Just Like Heaven
- If You Were Here
- 867-5309
- Once In a Life Time
- Jane
- Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)
I know that it's been confirmed earlier this year and a majority of the tracks have been revealed, but do you think there are going to be more songs added to the track list? If so, what do you want to hear?
I'm personally hoping for any of the following:
I Believe in A Thing Called Love / The Darkness
Hungry Eyes / Eric Carmen
Never Gonna Give You Up / Rick Astley ^((I mean you can always dream, right))
What's Up / 4 Non Blondes
Footloose / Kenny Loggins
Let's Dance / David Bowie (or any Bowie song for that matter)
The Final Countdown / Europe
Killer Queen / Queen
Sweet Child O' Mine / Guns N' Roses
What would be some songs you guys would like to see if they were to make a third volume?
Personally, Iβd love to see
Learn to fly (foo fighters) Heart shaped box (nirvana) Twisted transistor (Korn) You really got me (Van Halen cover) Movin out (billy Joel) Funeral for a friend/love lies bleeding (Elton John) Money (Pink Floyd) Beverly Hills (weezer) Dammit (blink 182)
I think it would be cool if they did a 90βs album as well. Like more grungy and rock stuff.
It would be a bit different but if you try to envision it it would be perfect. Listen to the cover of Blue Monday by HEALTH and it just seems possible.
My current top picks are
Careless Whisper by George Michaels
Borderline by Madonna
The Warrior by Scandel
Don't you forget about me from the Breakfast Club
Private Eyes by Hall and Oates
In Time from Bill and Ted's excellent adventure
Sweet child of mine by guns and roses
Together Forever by Rick Astley (never gonna give you up is too obvious)
Easy Lover by Phil Collins
The Power of Love by Huey Lewis
Carry on my wayward son by Kansas
Come on Eileen by dexys midnight runners
St Elmo's fire
And Crazy Train by Ozzy Osborne.
Iβm looking for a signed copy of Under the covers Vol 1, if anyone here has an extra that they be willing to sell, itβd mean a whole lot!
What do you think would good covers for them to do for UtC4. I personally think that Kokomo by the Beach Boys would sound beautiful for Dan's voice.
Iβm listening to the album right now! (perks of living in australia)
ROCK ON!! π€
Someone else posted a more in-depth analysis of UTC III, and they have a background in music so theirs is much more professional! I was just curious to see if people shared similar feelings to me about UTC III- there were some tracks I was incredibly excited for (mainly βPhotographβ and βSafety Danceβ haha), but when I listened to them, I just felt so underwhelmed. I thought the instruments were great, but Danβs vocals, especially for such high energy songs, seemed almost lifeless to me, and honestly I was kind of disappointed! Itβs hard to explain, but his vocals just sounded so edited and precise that it made the songs sound blander to me. I felt the same way listening to βDown Underβ (which may be an unpopular opinion haha).
However, I donβt want to discredit the work they put into the album! I havenβt listened to it fully yet, and I genuinely loved βWe Built This Cityβ and βSledgehammerβ, probably because it sounds like Danβs putting personality into his vocals and having fun with what heβs singing! Iβm curious to see what other people think :)
I personally have a soft spot for
Glory of Love
Always Something There To Remind Me
When You Were Mine
The rest of the album is amazing as well..but those 3 stick out the most for me..and i will probably most likely listen to them on a constate repeat loop for all eternity :P
Just got the new album yesterday and listened to it a ton of times,
I have some thoughts about this.
We Built This City - one of their best covers, thank god dan stopped layering his vocals too much.
Photograph - their cover on Pour Some Sugar on Me is better, also amazed that the high note here doesn't sound artificial, I'm almost sure dan was going to faint after that.
Down Under - honestly felt like Dan had no energy in this one, don't know how you can have little power for the chorus in this song, on the musical aspect though TWRP sounds amazing.
Sledgehammer - also one of their best, dan's vocals are amazing on this one, would be amazing if they recreated the original music video shot for shot.
Glory of Love - I liked it, nothing special though, some parts here though I thought dan was seriously going to injure his vocal cords.
Always Something There to Remind Me - actually unexpected, better than original, Dan's vocals are kind of good kind of bad, still nothing special.
Closer to the Heart - as a BIG Rush fan I'm honestly disappointed, the vocal mixing sucks, TWRP's instruments are quiet, and the guitar solo in the middle got replaced with a basic melody, only redeeming quality of this is dan's high note replacing said solo, but even then dan's vocals feel heavily toyed with.
Nights on Broadway - don't know why he wanted a song that's sung by 4 guys but this just beats the original by a landslide, it's unexpectedly perfectly fit for dan to sing, TWRP also did an amazing job here.
Owner of a Lonely Heart - like Nights on Broadway dan's voice saves the day.
When You Were Mine - better than the original, that's all.
Safety Dance - who the hell is in charge of vocal mixing dan sounds so quiet and bored in this track, also wtf what happened to the great intro from the original.
I Won't Back Down - once again the vox are pretty bad in this, TWRP's instruments sound very distant as well.
Don't Fear The Reaper - really unique take on the original, and I loved it, but it's not that special just because the first part was changed into acoustic, I get that it was supposed to sound melancholic and I really liked that, there seems to some echoing throughout also. but come on it's not THAT game-changing, also the cowbell here is ALMOST non-existent, this is pretty much the greatest track on this album next to We Built This City.
Though I praise some of the tracks here the album is still kind of bad, all because of the fu
... keep reading on reddit β‘songs that would personally and permanently make me bust a nut if they made it on UTC vol. 3:
-Country Roads by John Denver
-Kids in America by Kim Wilde
- The Bad Touch by Bloodhound Gang
-Livin' La Vida Loca by Ricky Martin
feel free to add
Does anyone know when Under the Covers Volume 3 will be released on Bandcamp? I've purchased all of NSP and TWRP's albums there, for that sweet, sweet, loss-less file format. I'm not seeing their newest release on their Bandcamp page. I am seeing the album on Amazon (release on the 15th of November).
For comparison: Cool Patrol was released on Amazon and Bandcamp on the same day, August 17th 2018.
Thanks in advance.
I just heard UTC2 and it's as amazing as I thought it would be; although none of them match my favorite UTC song (We Close Our Eyes; Heat of the Moment was SO FREAKING CLOSE!).
It's time to look at the future and what they could have in store for us, if they ever want to close the UTC Trilogy. Here are my suggestions:
Don't Stop me Now by Queen; Danny NEEDS to sing at least one song from Queen (although something tells me he hasn't because he doesn't feel worthy of even covering Freddie Mercury as a singer), and Don't Stop Me Now seems to fit the most, right?
Danger Zone would be interesting to hear as well.
And whatever they do, PLEASE make the last song The Final Countdown by Europe; it's the perfect song to end a trilogy of covers. What are YOUR suggestions?
β’ Down Under by Men At Work
β’ Changes by David Bowie
β’ St. Elmoβs Fire (Man in Motion) by John Parr
β’ Land of Confusion by Genesis
β’ Hungry Like The Wolf by Duran Duran
β’ Take My Breath Away by The Police
β’ Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson
β’ Space Oddity by David Bowie
Please add and take away as you wish!!!
