it’s been a tough decision to make, but i’ve finally made up my mind. i’m leaving byu, moving in with a couple of friends, and getting an audio tech certificate at my home city’s community college.
today’s the last day i can withdraw from my classes without paying any tuition. (if i withdraw tmrw it’s gonna be at least 15%) i’m anxious about what i’ll have to face on my own, but i definitely don’t wanna fake bein mormon for 4 years. i know i’ll never get that time back.

Hello everyone, it’s been about 2 months since the peeshow started and i’ve gotten a lot of messages and comments recently asking for an update and in general most of them were nice and lovely (as always there’s of course exceptions but at this point of my existence i’m resigned to them and assume are just part of internet culture).
First of all i’d like to apologize for taking so long to update, i know there’s a lot of people very curious about everything that’s happened with Ted’s family but i just needed some time to process things but here i am sharing yet another miserable piece of this story so you can all be in peace. I’d also like to welcome the Facebook people, i appreciate people telling me where they’re coming from because i didn’t know the power of reddit before i made my first AITA post.
Anyway, Ted asked me for time apart, he himself is going through a lot of things and has a lot of feelings that me being with him makes worse. He has a lot of guilt and opening so many closets with skeletons and facing them is a lot to ask of anyone. We’re not officially divorced but we are not looking for new houses together either. We are still in the process of selling our old place so he’s been staying there while i stay with my parents. I don’t know what’s going to happen once the sale of our place is finalized or what he wants to do but i promised him space so yeah, there’s that. He did give me permission to update you all because despite some hateful messages and comments most of you are incredibly sweet and helpful.

Canada loves to congratulate itself for doing the bare minimum. The capitalism is a rampant garbage-fire here too. I edited the post to bold some key points. If you don’t want to read the whole thing, please at least read those.
This paragraph is a quick edit at the top: What I’m trying to say is that Canada has VERY similar issues to America, but on a slightly smaller scale. For a sub that encourages people to do/obtain better than the bare minimum, I’m trying to say that people need to pay attention to Canada. It’s what America would be like if the States fixed a few issues. And it’s still pretty bad. Try to listen to actual Canadians, or at least Google a bit, before making assumptions that it’s good here based on American media. Commenters really want to focus on Canada vs US healthcare. That’s not what the fuck I’m talking about. Canada has other extreme issues because of capitalism and the work environment here. (Remember how this is an anti work sub? Where we talk about issues caused by capitalism?) Just because you won’t go bankrupt by Canadian healthcare doesn’t mean that our healthcare is perfect.
Especially after the Trump effect. Our minimum wage is a bit higher, but still unlivable unless you have no family and roommates in a shit apartment. Our dealing with covid was shit. Sure we have universal health care, but not really. The meds still cost a fuck-ton at the pharmacy.
The way managers and CEOs think here is the same as the states. The greed makes people assholes here too. Not so nice, eh Canada?
I go to school with a very high amount of co-op students. Every girl/woman I’ve talked to (17-24) has been creepily hit on in their co-op jobs by men much older. No one tries to protect them, the school doesn’t even acknowledge it. My program does a wage breakdown by gender. Men are offered way more than women from the start. Before anyone tries to negotiate. I know it sounds bad but please hear me out.
When my wife and I divorced, my daughter (14F) took my wife's side, which I was pretty upset and surprised about. She was 12 when we separated and we were very close, unlike her and her mother. I didn't hold in against her because she's a kid and didn't know any better and I make the effort to see her. I love spending time with my daughter.
I met my current wife four years ago. She was pre-law and was planning on taking loans to pay for law school. However, about 2 years later, we were engaged and I didn't want her to take on any loans so I offered to pay for law school. She was apprehensive, but I wanted a good start to our married life and not want any loans hanging over our heads, so she agreed.
I used my daughter's college fund to pay for my wife's school and planned on replenishing it so that my daughter would have a fund when it was her turn to go to college. I put a little money each month. I honestly thought this was okay because when I had asked her about college at the time of doing this, she said that she wanted to go to "make-up" school and be a make-up artist and that "college sucks".
Well, apparently her mindset changed because on Sunday, we met up and she was talking about AP classes. I was surprised because I didn't think she was interested in school. I asked her if she was joking, but she said that she's aiming for CS at some top private college and that her dream is to start a start-up business. She then asked me if she had a college fund and she wanted to know if she should add on an EC or get a job.
I told her the truth about her college fund and that right now there's not enough money for even a year at a private college. She then started crying and making a scene and told me that she couldn't believe that I chose my wife over her mom and now I'm choosing her again over my daughter. Which is not true, since my daughter is getting a fund, just not private school tuition. She then called my wife a bunch of awful names that I won't say here. I told her that she's probably not going to get into a private school because she wasn't even serious about school 2 years ago. She called me a shit dad and ran away until her mom came to get her.
