England in 1066 - "a treasure house of Araby"?

I'm reading a book about medieval warfare, and I came across this:

>[In 1066] Duke William of Normandy, conquered a land that his chaplain called 'a treasure-house of Araby', so abundant was it in gold and precious metals.

I know England has good iron and tin deposits, but I haven't heard of it being such a great source for precious metals. Was England as rich as William's chaplain suggested, or was he exaggerating or ignorant?

Put my house on the market through a letting agent, out of all the applicants the staff member recommended their daughter but they did not disclose the relation to the recommended tennant. Isn't this a major conflict of interest? Other shady stuff inside[England]

To give the more full timeline I had tennants give a month notice so my letting agent asked if I wanted to remarket and I said sure, so thats what they did in a couple of weeks. They then called and said as soon as they put it up there was massive interest and 10 people applied in a day(I undercharge my rent costs). But they then also said that due to covid(in late july) that they took it off the market due to not being able to show people the house(do virtual tours or whatnot) until the tennants gave back the key. I thought this was odd since its not a problem for anyone else but they're the experts and I pay them a lot to sort this for me and they say they do whats best for me.

But anyway a week or so later they contact me again and say they found someone that seems good. Just a parent and a child and that one is on universal credit but they have a guarenteur who earns enough. Again it seemed weird that they went from 10 applicants in a day, to taking it off the market for a while, then suddenly have gone through the entire process and got new applicants again and chose this lady from them. But again they're the experts, I pay them to sort it and they say they do whats best for me.

Then after the tennant has moved in for a couple of weeks and I go meet them to fit a couple of extra things for them to make the home nicer and then I find out that it's the letting agents daughter... So when they found a possible tennant and said they done a background check and the guarenteur checks out(the staff member herself would have been the guarenteur!) they were talking about their daughter! OF course they'd say she seems like a good tennant.

I also think that the reason why they took the house off the market wasn't due to the reasons they gave, but because of they wanted to "reserve" it for their daughter. I'm not too bothered about the tennant but if thats what happened then this caused a 2-3 week gap in the house being occupied which of course costs quite a few hundred pounds for me. They also would have charged me about Β£300 to market the property and find a tennant and do tours, but of course they wouldn't have done all that.

It also adds a massive amount of bias to the situation. They've always said they represent me and do whats best for me but now their daughter is the tennant if anything happens it's reasonable to expect them to side with her more than usual right?

It just came across as very shady and wrong and I feel like it might have cost me Β£500-9
