A list of puns related to "The Tick (2016 TV series)"
...and binged the whole thing until now. I've long had passing knowledge of the Tick and always found any image or clip from a show quite funny and smart. Without knowing much about the character, I saw the series pop up on my relatively new Prime account and gave it a try. Boy, were my expectations exceeded. The series was incredibly good, and definitely the kind of silly, smart, and heartfelt comedy I needed today.
Thankfully, the Second Season wrapped up enough plots to make it a satisfying ending. And yet... what a crime it had to end. I now 100% understand why Firefly fans never shut up about that show getting cancelled; it SUCKS to get so hooked on a series and not only have it abruptly end but know the unsatisfying real-world way it ended. At least the Tick is a character larger than this show; the universe didn't live or die by the 2016 series. But again, what a crime THIS version of him had to go.
Though I said I've always had a passing knowledge of the Tick, I feel like this series truly introduced me to the character and the weird universe of Ben Edlund. So, other than airing my grievances on how the series ended... where next? I've only seen clips of the Warburton Tick and the cartoon. Should I seek out and watch those next? They clearly seem to be different kinds of universes, right? What about the comics? The Tick did start as a comic book character, after all. I've been looking up and trying to read about it all, but it feels like drinking from a firehose. The universe is so purposefully bloated like a Golden Age superhero comic and I LOVE it but, at the same time, it's so intimidating to take my first steps in. For now, I might give the 2016 an other watch through, and you can guarantee I'll be spreading the good word to everyone I know.
Anyway, I'm sure destiny will lead me to the right destination. SPOON!
Mr. Robot is a TV series based around a hacker and taking down the US financial systems. I won't go into the details of the series, but in Season 2 Episode 11 (Aired Sept 14, 2016) there was a conversation between 2 people. The CEO (Phillip) of the largest financial company (Evil Corporation, yes really is called that in the series) and a person in the white house (Jack). This isn't the full transcript, but these are the parts that predicted the CBDC:
Jack: I cannot do it. It is unconstitutional.
Phillip: Look, with Ecoin equal to one dollar it'll free up the economy.
...
Jack: It's unconstitutional. You can't make your own currency. That is the federal government's job.
Phillip: I am not the problem here. The problem here is hard cash is fading rapidly.
Phillip (cont.): That's just the way of the world right now, and Bitcoin is spreading. And if Bitcoin takes over, we are all in a world of hell.
Phillip (cont.): It is unregulated, it's already reached its transaction volume maximum and it is partly controlled by Chinese miners.
...
Phillip: With Ecoin, we control the ledger and the mining servers.
Phillip (cont.): We are the authority.
Phillip (cont.): I will make sure that you have visibility into every single wallet that's open, every loan, every transaction, which means we can start making new assets, which means we cab start rebuilding the banking sector with your your having to inject even more politically unpalatable federal funds into it.
Jack: The president will laugh at my face.
Phillip: But he'll know this is the right thing to do.
Phillip (cont.): This is going to be controlled by a good, old fashioned American company.
Phillip (cont.): You want to regulate it? Be my guest. Regulate the shit out of it.
Phillip (cont.): I'll give you back doors, side doors, tracing, whatever you want.
Phillip (cont.): Just don't shut it down.
Phillip (cont.): This was always the future, Jack.
If this wasn't a fucking crystal ball then I don't know what is.
The style was cartoon and I know one mysterie was like a vampire dude that they were suspicious of first I know there was a villain and one problem was like if a friend or the kid itself needed to find a solution but if they saved the vampire the βhotelβ would be destroyed but if they saved the hotel the bad people would clone the vampire and use him for bad I also remember the doorman REALLY liked to open doors. The series aired in Germany / Switzerland around the given timerframe

I'm not talking about something like Futurama which was cancelled and given new life twice. Looking for other shows that have been cancelled and rebooted completely from the ground up. Not sure if something like Star Trek should count, either, since that's more of a branching out of a franchise.
