A list of puns related to "The Simpsons (season 21)"
The jokes were better, it was more sure of itself, 90s Simpsons felt too experimental, almost like a fever dream, the plots are more engaging and entertaining. I think a lot of classic Simpsons that people think is Golden Age is actually after Season 10, e.g going to Africa, it also found the perfect balance of using current culture to be entertaining without it controlling the show like modern Simpsons
Its an ultra-condensed of arguments against it.
One of the very best episode of the show imho.
I sugest you watch it right now if you don't remember it well or never saw it.
I don't know about any legal and decent quality streaming link to share, see if you know about one please post it in the comments.
The Love Boat aired from September 17, 1976 to February 12, 1990 (a duration of 13 years, 5 months). Since The Love Boat, there have only been 6 scripted TV comedies to run for a longer duration, all of which are still currently running:
The Simpsons since December 17, 1989 (31 years, 11 months)
South Park since August 13, 1997 (24 years, 3 months)
Family Guy since January 31, 1999 (22 years, 10 months)
Curb Your Enthusiasm since October 15, 2000 (21 years, 1 month)
American Dad! since February 6, 2005 (16 years, 10 months)
It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia since August 4, 2005 (16 years, 4 months)
This week (between Thursday, November 25 and Wednesday, December 1) there will be new episodes from 5 of the above shows:
Thursday, November 25 - South Park: Post COVID (Paramount+)
Sunday, November 28 - The Simpsons S33E09: "Mothers and Other Strangers" (Fox)
Sunday, November 28 - Family Guy S20E09: "The Fat Man Always Rings Twice" (Fox)
Sunday, November 28 - Curb Your Enthusiasm S11E06: "Man Fights Tiny Woman" (HBO)
Wednesday, December 1 - It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia S15E01: "2020: A Year In Review" & S15E02: "The Gang Makes Lethal Weapon 7" (FXX)
Nothing more to this post, I know a lot of people are not big on The Simpsons or Family Guy anymore, but I just thought it was funny looking at my DVR this week and seeing it was recording all shows I used to watch 15-20 years ago.
Note: for arguments sake I did not count shows on this list that were brought back for a 1 or 2 season reboot after a big gap between seasons like Roseanne (1988-1996, 2018), Will & Grace (1998-2005, 2017), Arrested Development (2003-2005, 2013, 2018) or Reno 911! (2003-2009, 2020)
Edit: to edit this, I realized The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet (duration of 13 years, 6 months) actually lasted 1 month longer than The Love Boat, but regardless the 6 active shows I mentioned are still the only ones to run longer than either of these shows.
Derrick Henry has been on an absolutely absurd pace so far in this season. Ravaging opponents left and right. He currently stands at 783 Rushing Yards and 10 Rushing TDs through just six games and it seems that his war path of rushing domination is only just beginning.
Entering Week 7 of the 2021 NFL Season, Derrick Henry needs only 217 yards to join Jim Brown and O.J. Simpson in an incredibly exclusive club of rushing domination. While 200 Yards seems like an intimidating task for the average running back. Henry is anything BUT the average running back, the dude can rip out a 200-yard game at any time. And KC has one of the worst rushing defenses in the league, ranked 27th in the league, allowing 133.2 yards per game. So it's very much in the realm of possibility that Henry could rush for over 200 yards. If he wanted to go all the way and set the record, he'd need to run for 243 Rushing Yards, which is a tougher task but not impossible.
So the task at hand is to see if Henry can actually do it and I, for one, am very excited. Derrick Henry is almost singlehandedly keeping the storied tradition of the classic workhorse "do-it-all" running back alive, which is all the more impressive in the passing-oriented league of today
Top 5 Rushing Yards (Through 7 Games)
O.J. Simpson - 1973 - 1,025 rushing yards - [Finished with 2,003 Yards (14 Games)]
Jim Brown - 1958 - 1,011 rushing yards - [Finished with 1,527 Yards (12 Games)]
O.J. Simpson - 1975 - 1,005 rushing yards - [Finished with 1,817 Yards (12 Games)]
Jim Brown - 1963 - 972 rushing yards - [Finished with 1,863 Yards (14 Games)]
DeMarco Murray - 2014 - 913 rushing yards - [Finished with 1,845 Yards (16 Games)]
On a side note to further increase the madness, if Henry rushes for 4 TDs against KC, he can join Jim Brown for most rushing TDs through 7 games, with 14 TDs.
Top 5 Rushing TDs (Through 7 Games)
Jim Brown - 1958 - 14 Rushing TDs - [Finished with 17 Rushing TDs (12 Games)]
Emmitt Smith - 1995 - 13 Rushing TDs - [Finished with 25 Rushing TDs (16 Games)]
Eric Dickerson - 1983 - 12 Rushing TDs - [Finished with 18 Rushing TDs (16 Games)]
Priest Holmes - 2002 - 12 Rushing TDs - [Finished with 21 Rushing TDs (16 Games)]
Shaun Alexander - 2005 - 12 Rushing TDs - [Finished with 27 Rushing TDs (16 Games)]

>The Lakers have now lost 21 games. Thatβs as many losses as the 2009-10 Cavs had all season. That team was viewed as so bad that LeBron had to leave it to have any chance to contend. His best teammates were Mo Williams and Sideshow Bob. This Laker season has been so much worse.
Makes you wonder: If the lakers donβt get it together this season and fall out of the first round again(assuming they donβt get bounced in the play-inβs) they donβt have that many assets for Legm to work with(Blew all of that on the Westbrook trade) or picks cause of the AD trade. Where does Lebron go from here? This is an interesting situation going forward.
For the record on those Cavs teams though I remember some picking them to possibly beat the lakers in the finals during those years when Kobe vs Bron possibly playing in the finals was a narrative and they had those puppet commercials. They were favorites to come out of the East by many and people felt they had the size and length to bother the Lakers.
D'oh
This post is in no way to discredit the Mavs season, or imply that their team could not hold up against today's teams. This is just purely observation of how quickly the NBA has gravitated towards 3-point shooting.
It gets really absurd when you start looking at 3PA numbers the past few decades. Ray Allen led the league in 3PA in 2005-06 with 653. Last season, those numbers would have been good for 4th, nestled between Damian Lillard (704) and Duncan Robinson (613). Also of note are Jordan Clarkson's 599 attempts, and Terry Rozier's 571 attempts. Curry led the league with 801 3PA.
Back in 05-06, you had to be the best shooter in the league to have the green light to shoot 653 3's. But in 20-21, a mid-tier player like Buddy Hield is more than welcome to shoot 721 attempts.
The new emphasis on 3-pointers has drawn defenses out to the line more than before, and we've seen players with excellent mid range shooting ability take advantage of this (Chris Paul, DeMar Derozan).
I'm curious where the game will go in 10 years. Is it possible that the trend will eventually lead to an era of mid-range snipers taking advantage of soft spots in 3-point defense? Or will the trend just keep going, and we'll see more seasons like Harden and his 1000+ 3PA in 2018-19?
Iβm not a huge fan of all the ratings talk when it comes to wrestling, but I got curious today and wanted to see how the claim that βWWEβs ratings have been in a death spiral for yearsβ holds up when compared to other popular shows.
South Park and The Simpsons are shows that have been on tv for decades, and people generally agree are well past their prime, but also keep getting renewed for huge amounts of money. South Park just got a $900 million deal. Itβll probably keep getting renewed long after weβre all dead.
Thatβs despite the fact that episodes regularly pull in fewer that a million viewers, and have for quite some time now. If you go on the wiki page for the show you can see that itβs been pulling in fewer that 2 million viewers on average for like six years.
The Simpsons is a little more sporadic when it comes to viewership, but you can see looking at their wiki that they often drop off towards the end of a season, pulling in sub-2 million viewers.
Compare this to Raw and Smackdown, which usually average around, what, 1.8 million? 2 for Smackdown? And this is for shows that a) run year-round, b) donβt have to be hand-drawn and c) are way longer with way more room for commercials. I just donβt understand this claim that theyβre somehow in free fall.
Honestly, I think looking at tv ratings is a ridiculous metric for success and has been for almost a decade, since streaming and DVR etc makes the notion of live viewership obsolete. But ratings talk is such a big deal in wrestling, and yet nobody ever seems to bring up this point that even if you subscribe to the notion that theyβre important, WWE is kind of crushing it.
Looking at some other wikis it seems like this is true for a bunch of other long-running shows too. WWE is holding up a lot better than shows that take a lot more time and effort to make, and which only run for part of the year. So my question is, why this persistent myth that βviewers are leaving in drovesβ when it comes to them specifically? They demonstrably arenβt, unless youβre also going to make that claim about a bunch of other shows that also keep getting renewed year after year for millions upon millions of dollars. If I listened to wrestling fans
