...and ends up on the Island of Trid. The people there are starving and explain to the pastor that itβs because whenever they try to harvest the fruit at the top of the mountain, the nasty giant comes out of his cave and boots them all back down the hill. This infuriates the pastor who then declares that tomorrow he will join them on their next attempt. The next day they all march up the mountain together, and sure enough, out comes the giant who proceeds to kick all of the locals back down the hill leaving only the new guy to gather fruit at his leisure. Finally, he stops and asks the giant, βWell, arenβt you going to knock me off the mountain?β. Shaking his head, the giant says, βSilly rabbi, kicks are for Tridsβ.
'Are you the friar? ' I asked him.
'No, I am the chip monk' he replied.
Edit : Holy crap ! More than 1K updoots for a silly joke ? Thanks guys ! I am not sure whether to be proud or ashamed of myself.
Mom: Can you come out?
Kid: Yeah, gimme a minute.
Kid: Mom, I'm gay.
Mom: I know that silly, come out to the car.
Kid: Car, I'm gay.
My wife drove by with the kids and visited me at work. While I was saying hi, this happened:
Wife: You have some silly kids in here.
Me: And in here [indicate my lab], I have some sili-cates!
I love that the real dad jokes are the dad's trying to make a second joke based on the post haha. None of them are funny, they're all dry as the Sahara Desert, but like all good dad's, they're determined to keep trying.
Keep it up you silly gooses!
βWe use 3 cans of water to distract it.β
βWhat?β
βYa it should lose focus soon enough.β
the eye rolls from my partner were fantastic.
This happened tonight. We were talking about βconcentrateβ because they read me silly jokes from their school milk cartons like βwhy does X stare at the can of OJ? Because it says βconcentrateβ.β So we were talking about what the word meant.
I witnessed an apple store robbery today, they made me an iWitness. I was already running late, after my wife took my cheese this morning. Even after I told her it was Nacho cheese. She asked what time my dentist appointment was, I told her Tooth hurt-y. But I didnβt end up going, as there was stairs I had to ascend. I donβt trust them, theyβre always up to something. Then my wife got really mad at me and said that I have no sense of direction. So I packed up my stuff and right!
I went straight to the barber for a new look. He asked me if I wanted a haircut? I said no, I want them all cut. Puzzled he would ask such a silly question, I noticed the graveyard across the street looking overcrowded. People must be dying to get in there I thought. I picked up a book about anti-gravity. It was impossible to put down! Shear amazement a barber would have a book like this! I told the barber I used to hate facial hair...but then it grew on me. He stopped cutting my hair when my ear fell off. He must of realised I was a leper at this point so I paid for his service and told him to keep the tip.
I received a call from my Eastern European mother in law, apparently my child was refusing to sleep during nap time. She told me heβs guilty of resisting a rest. Then she called me straight back to say there was a kidnapping. I rushed to her home to find my kid napping. I was angry by the miscommunication but that anger turned to joy when I realised it was the first day of spring. I got so excited I wet my plants. After which I realised I was late for soccer practice. Iβm not a big fan of the sport but I was doing it for the kicks. I decided not to go as I was tired from the night before where I spent the night looking for the sun. Then it dawned on me. Unusual for me, as Iβm usually a pretty good sleeper. I can do it with my eyes closed.

The annual turkey pardon is a silly tradition, and President Obama knows it. On Wednesday, before pardoning turkeys named Tater and Tot, Obama summed up his feelings about this particular duty.
"It is my great privilege β well, it's my privilege β actually, let's just say it's my job to grant them clemency this afternoon," Obama said.
Not in attendance for the president's final turkey pardoning ceremony were first daughters Sasha and Malia Obama, who gamely laughed alongside their father last year. So instead, the president's nephews Austin and Aaron Robinson stood by for what Obama called his "corny-copia of dad jokes about turkeys."
And thus began a pun-fest for the ages. Here's a list of President Obama's groaners from this year's pardoning ceremony:
"Actually [Sasha and Malia] just couldn't take my jokes anymore. They were fed up."
"What I haven't told them yet is we are going to do this every year from now on. No cameras, just us, every year. No way I'm cutting this habit cold turkey."
"Tater is here in a backup role just in case Tot can't fulfill his duties. So he's sort of like the vice turkey. We're working on getting him a pair of aviator glasses."
"I want to take a moment to recognize the brave turkeys who weren't so lucky. Who didn't get to ride the gravy train to freedom. Who met their fate with courage and sacrifice and proved that they weren't chicken."
[After touting positive economic indicators and the low uninsured rate] "That's worth gobbling about."
"We should also make sure everyone has something to eat on Thanksgiving. Of course, except the turkeys, because they're already stuffed."
"When somebody at your table tells you that you've been hogging all of the side dishes, you can't have any more, I hope that you respond with a creed that sums up the spirit of a hungry people: 'Yes, we cran.' "
"Look, I know there are some bad ones in here, but this is the last time I'm doing this, so we're not leaving any room for leftovers."
"And now from the Rose Garden, Tater and Tot will go to their new home at Virginia Tech, which is admittedly a bit hokey." (The Hokies are the Virginia Tech mascot.)
"And so let's get on with the pardoning. Because it's Wednesday afternoon and everyone knows that Thanksgiving traffic can put people in a foul mood."

I work in an office with 2 other guys and we all get along very well. Once every other week, a cleaning crew comes in to sweep, dust, mop etc.
One of the cleaning crew had a duster out and was dusting my coworkers desk. He told the lady to hit me with the duster as I was acting silly as usual. She said she couldn't as she would go to jail for battery. I said, "No. You would go to jail for assault with a dusty weapon."
The audible groans and chuckles were fuel to my dad humoured fire.
Hey all. I work at a place that sells medieval and Renaissance themed clothing, weapons, and armour. We are beginning to sell snacks in the breakroom for employees (sans vending machine) and I want to call the "shop" something silly/ridiculous. Ye Olde Snack Shack just won't cut it, I want a good pun in there. Don't hesitate to use fantasy inspired ideas either. I wanted to go with The Dragon's Hoard, but would rather have something funny as well!
Disgusted, Dad replied, "Don't be silly, I'm putting it in the living room!"
The vet had recently diagnosed him with silly yak disease.
There are now over a million subs for this silly, corny, beautiful feed of dad jokes.

A million subs is a big number.
If we put a million subs end to end, we'd be able to reach a very small part of the way around the Earth... Double that if they were foot long subs, and we'd make it all the way around and more if they were the kind of subs that go under water.
That's why I'm amazed.
Well done everyone on being amazing dads with amazing dad jokes. No matter what kind of dad you are - inside or outside expected dad norms - keep the world laughing and shaking their head.
(I'll keep this stickied for a short period of communal celebration and then go back to the shadows as normal. Keep doing you, dads.)
The troll replied, "Silly Rabbi, kicks are for Trids!"
My grandfather was a farmer and he loved getting dressed up every year for the local fair and exhibiting his prize chickens.
For this occasion, my grandmother would spend the entire year searching through thrift shops looking for silly neckties for him to wear, and she loved finding ones with chickens on them.
When he died a couple of years ago, he bequeathed them to me in his will. When my grandmother handed me the bag full of them, my eyes welled with tears and I smiled thinking about my grandfather looking in the mirror and straightening his tie.
Why am I telling you all of this back story? Because the last time I tried to tell this to someone and I didn't give context, they thought it was weird that I was so excited about inheriting my dead grandfather's hen tie collection.
We were waiting on a friend to login to run a dungeon and i am just out picking herbs. I am being silly and just herbing and running away from the NPCβs
She says i should keep it up and eventually i will be a Herbing Legend!
I'm working on a silly project for my job, and I'm trying to come up with punny fake names for the name tags. I work at a community bank - anything finance and banking product or industry related is good, I am god awful at puns and so far I've only got these:
Ann U. Ities Dee Posit Owen A. Lott

Once in a land far, far away there lived a group of people called Trids. The Trids were happy except for the huge ogre that lived on the mountain. The ogre would periodically terrorize the Trids.
The Trids tired of the ogre and sought to reason with him. They thought one of their religious leaders would be a good intermediary. So a group of Trids and their minister went up the mountain and before they could even say one word the ogre kicked them down the mountain. Not being dismayed the Trids thought that maybe the ogre was Catholic, so they sent another delegation, this time led by the local priest. But alas, as they approached the ogre he once again kicked them all down the mountain.
The Trids were upset until they thought that perhaps the ogre was Jewish. Unfortunately, no Trids were Jewish, so they wrote to the people of another land and asked them to send a Rabbi to help them with the ogre. The Rabbi arrived and led a delegation of Trids up the mountain. The ogre saw them coming and kicked all of them, except for the Rabbi, down the mountain. The Rabbi, having been told of the previous expeditions, wondered why he alone had not been kicked down the mountain, so he asked the ogre. The ogre laughed and replied:
"Silly Rabbi, kicks are for Trids!"
She was texting me while working the night shift at a restaurant. This is how the conversation went:
Girl: I hate the night shift. Iβm so hungry! Me: What! You work at a restaurant! Get something to eat! Girl: I canβt eat on the clock! :( Me: Well donβt eat on a clock, silly! Get a plate!
A man came home from work late again, tired and irritated, to find his 5 year old son waiting for him at the door.
βDaddy, may I ask you a question ?β
βYeah, sure, what is it ?β replied the man.
βDaddy, how much money do you make an hour?β
βThatβs none of your business! What makes you ask such a thing?β the man said angrily.
βI just want to know.Β Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?β pleaded the little boy.
βIf you must know, I make $20.00 an hour.β
βOh,β the little boy replied, head bowed.
Looking up, he said, βDaddy, may I borrow $9.00 please?β
The father was furious. βIf the only reason you wanted to know how much money I make is just so you can borrow some to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed.Β Β Think about why youβre being so selfish.Β I work long, hard hours every day and donβt have time for such childish games.β
The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.
The man sat down and started to get even madder about the little boyβs questioning.Β How dare he ask such questions only to get some money.
After an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think he may have been a little hard on his son.Β May be there was something he really needed to buy with that $9.00 and he really didnβt ask for money very often.
The man went to the door of the little boyβs room and opened the door.Β βAre you asleep son?β he asked.
βNo daddy, Iβm awake,β replied the boy.
βIβve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier,β said the man.Β βItβs been long day and I took my aggravation out on you. Hereβs that $9.00 you asked for.β
The little boy sat straight up, beaming.
βOh, thank you daddy!β he yelled.
Then, reaching under his pillow, he pulled out some more crumpled up bills.Β The man, seeing that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.
The little boy slowly counted out his money, then looked up at the man.
βWhy did you want more money if you already had some?β the father grumbled.
βBecause I didnβt have enough, but now I do,β the little boy replied.
βDaddy, I have $20.00 now.Β Can I buy an hour of your time?β
The father looked upon his son with a smile as he walked towards the door and said "Overtime is double pay."
Carved on to the post was some roman-looking words:
TOTI
EMUL
ESTO
After two hours of analysing the words, he was approached by the farmer that owned the field. "What are you looking at chap?" Said the farmer.
"I'm trying to figure out the meaning of the writing on this post... it looks Roman! This could be a great find!" The archaeologist replied.
"Let me take a look" says the farmer as he analyses the carving.
"It says "To tie mules to" you silly twat".

The beef cattle farmer thought it was a silly policy and would greatly reduce his income from selling meat overseas....
The pig farmer disagreed, he thought it was a great opportunity for livestock farmers to benefit from higher profit margins in a strong domestic market with fewer overheads.
Feeling very passionate after a few beers, the beef farmer says to the pig farmer:
βThis time in 12 months, the government will have repealed this policy because itβs such a terrible idea... in fact, Iβm willing to bet on it. If Iβm wrong, and they donβt repeal it, Iβll give you my prized cow, Daisy. But if Iβm right, and they do repeal it, you have to give me free bacon for a yearβ.
The pig farmer is confident that the policy will be a success and wonβt be repealed. So he says βdealβ.
The beef farmer carries on:
βActually, I think this policy is going to be such a terrible failure that Iβll need to sell half of my cows to stay afloat... in fact, Iβm willing to bet on it. If Iβm wrong, and this policy doesnβt mean I need to sell half my cows, Iβll give you free steaks for a year. But if Iβm right, and I do need to sell half my cows, you have to give me your prized boar, pumbaβ.
The pig farmer is confident that the beef farmer wonβt need to sell any cows. So he says βdealβ.
12 months pass following the introduction of the live export ban. The government hasnβt repealed the policy, but unfortunately the beef farmer has had to sell most of his cows.
Both farmers reconvene at the pub. The beef farmer says to the pig farmer:
βWell, it seems you were right about one thing but wrong about the other...
So... You may have won the cattle, but youβve lost the boar!β.
My dad and I were walking through a parking lot when I saw a piece of string hanging from the ceiling. Being silly, I told him "Hey watch out, there's a piece of string!"
So my dad, confused, asks "Why should I be careful of a piece of string?" and I answer "I don't know, maybe you're afraid of string"
His face lit up and he answered "I'm a frayed knot".
I give up.
So there's this girl in my class who I want to ask out. But I do not know her at all. We are complete strangers to each other. So I thought out oI should start the conversation with a silly pun around her name ?
Her name is Susan. I couldn't come up with a pun after a week of thinking. help me please!
Edit: Any kind of punny-conversation-starter will do as well. Thanks.
I am making cheesy valentine-like cards for my fellow Adventure Monkeys--a name that was dubbed to the group I did humanitarian aid work with in Guatemala. For our last meeting tomorrow, I want to bring cheesy valentine-like cards, but I'm having trouble coming up with a silly pun. I'd like to use the words Quetzal (national bird of Guatemala) or Monkey (for our group) if possible.
Any ideas? I need your brilliant pun minds!

EDIT FOR CLARITY: People are making some great suggestions for names, but I should have clarified that this is for a team of 3 people. So proper names are not really going to work...stick to the format I have described in this post!
So we're in the car driving to the airport and my dad's talking about his buddy Terry. Terry was in some small movie and my dad was commenting that he played both the referee in a footy game, and then it cut to a shot of the crowd and THERE WAS TERRY. My dad goes "I mean, he could have at least put a different shirt on to create the illusion he was someone else. How silly of him!"
My sister says "You should be real careful dad, you shouldn't make fun of him. You can die from dissin' Terry"
Cue groans and laughter, and my dad conceding the apprentice has surpassed the master.

Just got back from shopping for new work clothes with my girlfriend. She picked out two button-down shirts for me to consider. The first was a blue-green color. I told her it wouldn't work because it doesn't match most of my ties.
The second shirt was solid gray. "You could wear a lot of your ties with this color," she said.
"True," I said. "But wearing more than one would look kind of silly."
King Broderick was in trouble. He wasn't a very good king, and his brother Argyle was gathering forces to depose him and take the crown. In desperation, he captured Count Petrie, a very popular man who was one of his brother's cronies, and tortured him to learn his brother's location.
But the count wouldn't divulge the information, so the King scheduled a public execution. The crowds gathered, including the King's brother, who was there in disguise. The Count was forced to kneel, with his head on the chopping block. The headsman stood nearby, holding his axe at the ready. King Broderick loudly proclaimed "Count, you are here before me because you have aligned yourself with my brother. If you tell me where he is, I will allow you to live out your days in my dungeon. Remain silent, and you will die." The Count remained silent. King Broderick motioned to the headsman, who slowly raised his axe and swung it down...THUNK...into the wood next to the Count's head. The Count stared at the axe, visibly shaking. King Broderick loudly proclaimed "Count, that was a warning, and there will not be another. Tell me where my brother is and you will live. Remain silent, and you will die!" The Count stayed silent. King Broderick again motioned to the headsman, who raised the axe. As the headsman began the downswing, the Count cried out "Wait!!" but...THUNK...it was too late, and the Count's head fell to the ground.
At the Count's death, the King's brother leapt up and revealed himself to the crowd. Cheering Argyle, they crowded forward and overran the King's guards. Soon, it was Broderick's head on the chopping block. Argyle, the new King, waved back the headsman, knelt beside his brother and whispered into his ear "Silly brother, don't hatchet your Counts before they've chickened."
She said "How much are they new? I don't want to get you a used one"
"About double the cost, but there's nothing wrong with used if it's in good condition"
"I just don't want to buy you a second-hand one"
"Well that's really silly, I would hope you'd get me one with a second hand"
"ugh..."
"Why would anyone pick on you, Someoneyourownsize!?"
