In 25 Days, I will be streaming for 12 hours, playing Zelda BotW Master Mode to raise money for The Michael J Fox Foundation For Parkinson’s Research in Honor of my Dad and I need your help to make it successful!

#BacktosnackFightsForACure Stream

What (and When and Where) I will be doing this :

  1. Hey guys! I am finally ready to announce my 200 Follower Special stream. We hit 200 followers 2 weeks ago and since then, I have planned something very special for it. I will be trying to raise $100 for “The Michael J. Fox Foundation || For Parkinson’s Research”.
  2. I will be doing a 12 hour Charity stream raising money for “The Michael J. Fox Foundation || For Parkinson’s Research” in Honor of my Father who has Parkinson’s disease on April 18th (the Saturday after Easter) from 10am EST to 10pm EST at https://twitch.tv/backtosnack
  3. For most of the stream, I will be playing : The Legend of Zelda - Breath of the Wild : Master Mode (this just makes it harder and gives the enemy more health.)
  4. For Part of the Stream, I will be playing Wii Sports with my Father. It will take place whenever my Dad feels up to being on stream and isn’t too stiff. We will be playing and talking about how Parkinson’s disease has affected his life.

Why I will be doing this :

  1. For my 100 followers special stream, I had a few friends over and just had a really good time. Now, I have 200 followers. I am still a SUPER small streamer, but I do feel like I do have a community at this point. There are regulars who watch the stream and a good amount of people know my stream. This has lead me to feel like I have enough followers to have a successful charity stream. I also held a spontaneous charity stream a few months back when I had 150 followers for “Team Trees” and I was able to raise $50. That stream was just out of no where with no build up or donation incentives. I feel that with 200 followers, build up and better PR about it, and donation incentives, I’ll be able to hold a successful stream and raise at least $100.
  2. My Dad, John, first went to the Doctor about having Parkinson’s symptoms when I was 2 years old. On the date of the stream, I will be turning 18 in a month. My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s when I was 3 years old. I never got to know my dad before Parkinson’s personally. I have been told stories about how lively and happy he was, how he’d do anything to cheer up my siblings, and was overall, an amazing guy. Even with Parkinson’s, my dad is my hero and my main inspiration, but it is just different from what my older siblings know of him before it all. Every day, I have to help my dad doing simple daily tasks, from dressing, to eating, to even walking from one room to ano

The Michael J. Fox Foundation vs. Soka University

Michael J. Fox, the actor famous for "Family Ties" and the "Back to the Future" movies, was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease decades ago, at only 29 years old. He set up a foundation, the Michael J. Fox Foundation For Parkinson's Research. Here's the key takeaway fact:

  • Every penny this foundation receives is distributed immediately to research. There is no endowment.

Now let's look at the SGI's vanity university Soka (Soak-ya) U, with its billion dollar+ endowment. An endowment is typically used for ongoing expenses, such as maintenance and upkeep and faculty salaries, along with funding research programs and student programs. Soka U apparently has about 240 staff, ranging from the president to bus drivers. To give you an idea, if every employee makes $75,000, that totals to $18 million. $100K per employee = $24 million.

Let's assume a conservative 5% return (and just $1 billion for ease of computing). Soka U earns at least $50 MILLION every year just from its endowment sitting in investments.

#$50 MILLION

Meanwhile, Soka University only has around 400 students TOTAL on its largely-empty campus (which was designed for a student body of 1,200 persons). Soka U's tuition is higher than average for private universities in California. Soka U's tuition is around $36,000 (+) per student, but again, we'll round for ease of computation.

400 students x $36,000 per student per year = $14,400,000.

Soka U could give all those students FREE TUITION AND ROOM AND BOARD, the costs of which come nowhere close to $36,000+ per year and we all KNOW it. Instead, they're USING the students, NONE of whom has anywhere CLOSE to a billion dollars, to pay the faculty salaries so that Soka U doesn't have to spend any of that sweet, sweet MONEY. Soka U could write off the expenses for the students, pay that amount toward salaries and expenses and fill in the rest (which it's already doing anyhow)and STILL clear over, what, $30 MILLION per year just from the endowment.

That kind of endowment is a money machine, nothing else. And those wonderful Soka Gakkai people expect kids to feed it. Soka University is a giant PARASITE sucking children's lives away.

For an organization that's supposedly so interested in education, it certainly isn't putting itself out any to provide anything either in terms of quality of education (only ONE generic "Liberal Arts" degree is offered) and accessibility of education. Why should ANY stud

Thank you for $708 Raised for The Michael J Fox Foundation

Hello there! My name is Scott, but many of you know me as, Backtosnack. On April 18th, 2020, I streamed for 12 hours and ended up raising $708 dollars for The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in honor of my dad. My dad has had Parkinson’s since I was not even a year old. This stream was very personal and close to my heart. I want to thank everyone who came out, watched, shared it, and most importantly, donated. From the people that gave $1, making me do more pushups than I have done in a while, to people donating $15 and having me drink a shot of mixed lemon and pickle juice, which really tested my gag reflex, to even the amazingly generous people that donated from $50 to even, $100! I appreciate all of you and what you did for my father, myself, and the Parkinson’s community. I truly means the world to me. My goal was to raise $100 dollars for The Michael J Fox Foundation. I felt like that was definitely accomplishable, for many reasons. I was very confident about it. Even though I was confident, as the date got closer and closer, I got increasingly more nervous about it all. And to make me even more anxious about this, the COVID-19 panic began as well. People who had previously told me that they would donate, told me that they no longer could with the current situation. I thought about how I might want to postpone or even cancel my charity stream. I chose not to because I had already put so much time into it and I didn’t know when I would be able to do this ever again/know when this pandemic would calm down. I was determined to make the charity stream a success. I sat down and researched other successful charity streams, listened to podcasts about charity streams, read Twitch’s guidelines and advice for charity streams, and wrote down everything that stuck out to me. I decided that I needed to make great incentives for people to donate. I came up with a bunch of incentives that I knew I could do and was okay doing. A lot of them were disgusting or just hard to swallow (literally) and others were just mentally challenging. I showed them to close friends and their reactions were exactly what I needed. Disgusted, but still interested. Many would ask, “are you sure you want to do this?”, “absolutely”, I would reply. Now that my plan was set, I promoted it everywhere. Reddit, ( thank you r/ Parkinsons ), Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, my own Twitch channel, Discord, etc. Thank you to everyone who shared my announcement as well. And then the d

In 24 Days, I will be streaming for 12 hours, playing Zelda BotW Master Mode to raise money for The Michael J Fox Foundation For Parkinson's Research in Honor of my Dad and I need your help to make it successful!
