A list of puns related to "The Devil Next Door"
I didnβt really know what to expect, but The Devil Next Door is easily the most compelling docuseries Iβve ever seen on Netflix. It focuses on a man extradited to Israel from the US to be persecuted for war crimes. Donβt want to say anymore because all the twists and turns are incredible to watch unfold. There is courtroom drama greater than anything in Law and Order and itβs all real. Felt like I had to post this because I only found one other post about this on the sub. Absolutely riveting.
I don't want to spoil it but I was glued to the TV because it was such a CRAZY, sobering docu-series with a lot of twists!
Just to give you some background: Apparently, in the 60s and 70s, the US Govt. was hunting Nazis who might have managed to come into the US and living there. And they find this one guy, a retired Ford motors employee in his 60s in a small town and identify him as one of the key Nazis who have done unbelievable crimes. They base that on a Russsian document. But that guy is living a simple and clean family life for decades that he doesn't even have a parking ticket against him. And he is vehemently denying that he was that key high-profile Nazi. All the Jews want him dead, all the others who oppose Russia and communists believe it's all false and wants to protect him.
So that whole town where he lived becomes divided, and eventually, 4 countries: America, Israel, Russia, and even Germany get involved in the case. And the whole thing goes to court and becomes a very high profile case. So the court allows the TV cameras to film the trial. And this series is mostly about that court case.
The majority of the series is about court proceedings, the defense, the prosecution, the evidence, the witness and the horrors of the holocaust. It's 5 episodes, check it out!
first episode down, holy fuck its a hard watch.
Does anyone have the audio from when Bob, Dan, and Jake were discussing the Netflix show The Devil Next Door? The show was released on Nov 6 of last year and I assume they would have discussed it within a couple of weeks of it coming out. I donβt remember if it was part of a 1:30 News, BaD Radio Reports, or any of the other generic weekly segments, but I remember them talking about it.
Iβve searched on the UnTicket and through the various podcastfeeds but didnβt have any luck.
If anyone has a link or any info about the segment, I would appreciate it.
I've watched these four and each of them were fascinating and disturbing in their own way. I love the twists and turns and learning about the detective work that went into solving them. Are there any other Netflix mini series like this that I've missed? Any other documentaries or TV shows that I ought to see?
Just finished watching The Devil Next Door. I want to make it super clear that I am a full blown Jew with Jewish parents and raised in a secular home, went on birthright, did the Bar Mitzvah thing, speak Hebrew, great grandfather was a holocaust survivor, has family in Israel etc etc. This is not coming from a place of antisemitism:
It was a very mediocre docuseries... If it was more than 5 episodes I definitely would not have finished it. It doesn't get compelling until the last half of the 4th episode when he is found not guilty by the supreme court.
Ok, so maybe the guy wasn't Ivan the Terrible. How did they know he was at any of the death/concentration camps? Did I miss a part in the show which put him at any of those camps? The court in Israel had established that the documents proving his nazi identity were altered, so did they really know who he was?
Also- kind of funny that the US just couldn't let it go after he was found not guilty in Israel and tried again to get him convicted in Germany 10 years later.
All in all I think it was a very blah attempt to re-do "Making a Murderer" but have it more edgy because if you don't like it then you must hate Jews
Edit: clarified a sentence
I remember next to nothing about this book other than a few, admittedly really vague, things. I read it in grade school (I think I was in the fifth grade but it was also an advanced placement reading class).
It was about a family moving into an old home and the neighbor, who the son was suspicious of, is the devil or a demon or something of the like. I feel like a cave was a part of the climax. I vaguely remember a yellow book cover and I might remember it featuring a picture of this demon and it was purple but I am not certain. This is literally all I remember. I don't even remember if it was good! But I have been trying to crack it for years. If anything sounds even vaguely like this, please send me the title. Things will probably start coming back to me and I'll likely recognize it once I start reading plot descriptions.
Thank you for the time!
Edit: I don't really remember my dates but let's say this was before 2005 when I read it. Probably a few years earlier than that lol. I have no idea if this was an old book or a new one at the time.
I just finished Netflix's "The Devil Next Door" and would like to find a book that covers this topic. I am especially interested in reading about Operation Paperclip/Wernher Von Braun and if possible would prefer it to be written as a novel.
I now have to put up with incessant out of tune tooting at ungodly hours of the day for weeks.
