I've heard this song by wham a million times now being a child of the 80s, but it only hits home this Christmas, decades later.
I mean this happened to me. I had a wonderful Christmas with the love of my life, only to be discarded New Years night. Then take me back a few weeks later. Then discard me a week before Valentine's day. Then swooped in in the knick of time to have a nice Valentine's evening, only to be discarded (and taken back) countless times after.
They love ruining holidays, don't they?

I have focused on myself and my friends. I got me a bunch of kick ass shit! Shit I would normally never buy myself, too. And my friends? They are going to have a REALLY Merry Christmas from me this year! I love giving!
The narc could never appreciate your giving. In fact, they looked at your giving as silly and weak. Laughable.
But, the jokes on them because we get the chance to start over and do whatever the hell we want. Do who whoever the hell we want. Buy whatever the hell we want.
Last Christmas I gave her my heart. And in typical narc fashion, the very next day she gave it away. This year, to save me from tears, I'll give it to someone special. Me and my friends.

Christmas is a beautiful holiday. Sometimes we make a choice to be alone on this day because that is what we must do when we come to the realization of our families. If you are spending this holiday alone, you are strong and I wish you all the best happy warm fuzzies this holiday can and will bring.
I have gone no contact and this is my second Christmas alone. It is liberating to start making my own traditions and I look forward to many more Christmas’s to come. If anyone would like to chat today, pm me.
