If you could show someone one song to give them an idea of what metal core is, what is that song?

Sort of a long post: So I work with a middle aged man from Russia. I was listening to Avenged Sevenfold on the speakers when he came in and said in a thick Russian accent β€œyou like rock and roll?” I said yes and he proceeds to hook up his iPod nano to the speakers and showed my a song by β€œAs They Sleep”. For those who don’t know, ATS is more death metal than anything else. He shouted over the loudspeaker β€œYOU LIKE THIS!?” I was like hell ya this is good shit. I asked him if he had ever heard of β€œThy Art Is Murder” and then showed him a song of theirs when he said no. He really liked it and then asked me if this was my favorite kind of music, I told him that I’m more into Metalcore. He said he wasn’t familiar with that genre, at which point I realized that he wasn’t really aware of the different styles of metal and only knew some stuff from his younger days in Russia. My shift was about to end so I didn’t have tome to get into the whole idea behind metalcore, so I told him I’d try to find a song that encompasses what metalcore is. I think I chose β€œBackbreaker by Fit For A King”. So I was thinking about it on the way home from my shift and I thought I would ask y’all:

If you could pick one song to describe metalcore to someone, what song would it be?

Its fascinating how both GOT and Full Metal Alchemist followed the same fate and how each series dealt with the inevitable fallout. The parallels are striking when you consider that in both cases the TV show narrative over took the narrative of the series it was based on.

Both GOT and FMA started out as serialized works of fiction, GOT as novels, FMA as a manga.

Both then had TV shows started based the fictional works, GOT as live action FMA as anime. And in both cases the author was still completing the series while the TV show ran.

Then in both cases the TV show over took the narrative in the written fiction. This meant the TV shows writers were forced to come up with an ending for the series before the original author could end the original novels series/manga.

In both cases the ending the writers came up with was hugely controversial, with the fan base imploding and battle lines being drawn and fighting breaking out.

Now, in FMA case the ultimate answer was to simply remake the show and this time include the ending the original manga author wrote. This is what FMA Brotherhood is.

But in the case of GOT that likely won't happen.

Anyway thought the parallels were interesting.

Looking for advice on good brands to buy from now, that also show metal tests?

Hi sorry if this kind of post isn't allowed.

After making a previous post and given the current covid situation, ive decided to give edibles a try. Am not sure about how much to order if I wanted to just make a sticks of butter but am going to read abit more before going ahead with it.

So I was looking through the subreddit and wondering if there's some sort of vetted reccomended brands that also currently having deals? I also read that making sure to order from a source that doesn't have lead is also a concern. Is there is like a megathread of all the brands that were found to show tests and don't have heavy metals or lead ?

Just feel like that would be helpful if there was a list that was added to.

So far I'm currently checking some of the common sites or recommended ones and looking to see if they show test results for pesticides, and heavy metal on the product listing page. Hopefully can get a list going.

In the historical Bollywood movie Bajirao Mastani (2015) characters use swords with blades so flexible that they look (and are used) like whips, with the metal flapping around like a rope. It's bizarre to show this in such a movie if it isn't based in reality; were Indian flappy swords a thing?

I saw a clip of the movie and was very surprised by the physics of it: https://youtu.be/1aU52iLvPr0?t=302

Sounds impossible with what I know of old metallurgy (this is the 18th century, after all), but I also know blades were somewhat flexible and lighter than we usually imagine.

I guess the answer might simply be "Bollywood", but it would be bizarre if it didn't have an explanation, since it obviously surprises people watching. Is this trying to represent some legend about the sword of the real Baji Rao? I know sometimes swords are given weird properties in legends (like the Zulfiqar of Ali). Or was there really some kind of Indian sword with blades so thin that it was more flexible than usual, and the movie just exaggerates that?

Edit: I have been informed that this weapon indeed existed, which surprises me since I hadn't found it in my googling and browsing Wikipedia about Baji Rao. I have now been alerted to the fact that if I had just googled "Indian flappy sword" it would have showed up in the results [insert facepalm].

So I refocus my question: was this kind of sword used in the times of Baji Rao? What was its prevalence and how would it be used in combat? Looks dangerous for those next to you in a formation. Was it effective at all compared with a regular (non-flappy) sword?

I seem to recall a show or movie I once watched that showed a bartender taking a just-emptied liquor bottle and smashing the bottom out on a blunt metal spike next to the bar, then tossing it out. Is that a thing some places, or am I crazy/misremembering?

I've tried searching around the Internet with a variety of terms, and no luck so far, so maybe I'm crazy.

If I'm not crazy: why would this be done, and where is it done? Maybe a policy only for certain establishments to ensure compliance rather than a strict legal requirement?

Thanks in advance.
