Hello historical costumers!
I am upcycling an old, very stained duvet cover made from the most glorious cotton-ribbon embroidered high-thread count Egyptian cotton into a historically inspired pinafore apron, as I thought it was a crime to discard the fabric, and aprons will stain, regardless :)!
I'm hand sewing the whole thing, but I have run into the issue that the skirt portion of the apron is over 2 meters wide as I want it to potentially be spacious enough to cover at least 2/3rds of a hoop skirt, so it needs to be densely gathered. I've only recently started hand sewing rather than machining (due to illness, I have trouble sewing at my machine, and so this is my way to continue to be able to make things, as hand stitching goes just fine!), and I have never come across such a long gather before.
I am exceedingly puzzled how to proceed. I can't very well start doing a large running stitch with a thread that's 2.5 meters long, it'd become a knotted mess before I even started. Does anyone know how this was done historically? I suppose I could gather separate areas, rather than the whole length in one go, but I feel like it would be tough to disguise the joins. Does anyone know how this was handled historically? Are there any tips or tricks that might make it easier? I could cheat and machine the gathering stitches, but I would rather learn to do it by hand!
Of course, I have done some googling, but I mainly find tutorials on how to machine gather, or how to make ruffles to decorate historical clothes, and I already know how to do that!
Very many thanks :).
I'm in love with this pinafore (I think) that Seina is wearing and can't find anything similar anywhere! :( If any Terrace House geniuses out there can help me find it I would be so thankful.
I want that piece of my dick back and Iβve made up my mind to be mad about it
When I correct people who say 'girls' (out of habit not out of malice) when they mean 'women' they get defensive and don't see why using 'girls' is wrong. What's the best way to explain why they shouldn't do this?
I donβt even be shaming sex workers or shit like that, but goin on ghetto gaggers is crazy. You got spit on, pissed, on, choked to the point of vomiting and skeeted on by two racist white niggas for 2 bands π And you got a kid and loving family. You already known as a local thot in the neighborhood, then you go get humiliated on the internet for thousands to see? Imagine your daughter bein that desperate for bread π€¦πΎββοΈ
I always hear that, if a girl doesnβt like you back, you shouldnβt be pissed or angry or anything. You should just be mature, accept the rejection, and move on.
But after this roundabout rejection, I canβt help but be somewhat pissed off. Because of what I always hear, I feel like a piece of shit for being this upset.
Iβve been waiting for this to get easier, or less painful.. the truth is, I just miss him more with each passing day. Would give anything for one of his hugs.
For example--take season 5. I could NOT understand how both Ovie and Chris were getting NO interest, while Curtis landed both Amy and Maura. And though I thought he was a super nice guy, I didn't get all the interest in Tommy. Just not my taste.
She could be Amanda Mandalorian DeLorean
