A list of puns related to "Suzuki Katana"
Hey yβall, I am in the market for a new bike and all of these are available for the exact same price. The suzuki Katana being on a massive discount right now, its 1k USD less than the other two.
Performance wise and for the way it sounds, Katana wins it hands down for me. It thoroughly lacks in the electronics department though. Are there any significant benefits of having the 6 axis imu installed? For wheelies, is the wheelie control a very big thing for beginners to wheelies?
Also, for the looks of it, I seem to like the backend of the katana way too much. The yamaha and the kawasaki look like a little too plastic to me with all those extreme curves but they still look very good imo.
Also, the katana seems to have brembos and nissins so better braking performance i assume. Along with adjustable shock absorbers.
As for the sitting position, my favorite is the z900 and the least favorite is the mt09. The katana is somewhere in the middle.
The insurance on the katana seems to be a couple hundred dollars more per year which seems fine to me. The range is a little shorter too but i can live with it and is a no biggie.
Is katana the real best deal here or am i overlooking something important?
For reference, I am a guy in mid twenties and have been riding 350cc bikes for around 10 years. So this will be a big move.
Bought it with 4K on the odometer for 500 bucks. Guy had it listed for 1000 but I talked him down because I had to replace several vacuum lines that I fabricated myself, and it runs when it wants to. I replaced the main 7/32 line from the front of the gas tank to the top of the block, it started and idled decent for about 15 minutes and then boom no start again. The guy that sold it to me said he believed it was a vacuum leak to blame for this so he turned the idle control screw counter clockwise to richen the mixture to get it to idle. I thought no problem Iβll just adjust it back down to normal. The screw is completely missing from the idle air control knob on my bike. Itβs on the left right under the petcock, but there isnβt a way to adjust it. We pulled the plugs checked to see if it was rich or lean and 3 of the 4 were wet with gasoline. When I get back to it tonight I plan on trying to remove the air filter and figure out IF it had any more vacuum leaks before I go any further. One step at a time I just bought the bike a couple days ago. Only bummer is it has a salvage title because it was hit from the front at about 10 mph.
FYI: He had the main jet and idle jet replaced in 2 of the carburetors, I have the old one and it's not even clogged up. Makes me wonder if the idle is just not adjusted correctly, or the float needle. Air intake? Or the intake rubber connectors cracking ?
My suzuki katana 2001 keeps leaking oil.. when I bought it it was fine.. as soon as I changed my oil the bolt doesn't seem to tighten it just turn and turns after that it been leaking little by little every time .. I'm wasting oil re filling
After sitting overnight with the tank on, with a new petcock and new float seals, the engine flooded. So I learned the vacuum petcock was not turning off in in "on" or "res" positions, even though it was when I installed it. Put a brand new petcock on(which tested working properly), and adjusted to float heights so they close earlier than the manual says they should. Next day, same issue. Engine flooded, and petcock won't turn off in any position. Oil pan is full of gas now too so I'll have to change the week old oil. Anyone know how I might be misusing these petcocks, and why the floats aren't sealing?
Better yet, if anyone knows where to find a manual petcock that fits this tank, with ~44mm hole spacing, that would be great.
Hi all! Just got this bike a while back. The only major problem with it right now is that the idle speed is a bit too low. With the engine all warmed up, it will shut off on neutral.
I searched online and everyone says the idle adjustment screw is on the left side of the engine near the carburetors and it is a thumb screw, so no tools required to adjust it. However, I can't find anything like that on my bike, looked on the right side too.
If anyone can give me more information on this, it would be awesome. Also, is it possible that the screw has fallen off?
So I know these two bikes are a real apples/oranges comparison.
But both are available, I've test ridden both, aesthetically really dig both. Just wanted people who live with them to chime in. Especially since it is end of year and dealers are looking to move inventory.
I posted here a few months ago and ended up with some good suggestions to replace my well loved but not feeling special anymore Fz09. My history is mostly sport nakeds, ujms/standards. Some track experience on an SV650. I live in Western North Carolina and I am very lucky to have very fun twisty roads within minutes of the house.
Uses: Not my only bike (Holding onto an older sportster.) Mainly city/mountain riding. Occasionally 30-45mins on a freeway (70mph limit)
Main questions:
Katana Owners, do you feel like you use much of that 999cc engine day to day? Any real regrets or anything that stands out after a bit of ownership?
Vitpilen Owners, what's day to day ownership like? I see people love this bike in reviews but nobody talks much about city riding or what the limitations of the bike really are other than the single cylinder being a single cylinder or that the ergos are "super" aggressive
Hi
1999 model
So obviously bike doesn't start due to some switch/circuit problem.
Neutral light is ON in gear 1+Neutral but not other gears. So I started to check for continuity and indeed, the test shows it's faulty. I removed it and try to clean the contact area but still same problem.
What are the chances if I replace the switch it will work. Could there be another leakage in the circuit I should check first?
Edit: just to clarify: no start button click sound. Continuity test as described by Haynes.
Thanks
Hello! I recently purchased a GSX600F and I'm having trouble figuring out what model battery to buy to replace the one in it. The battery in it is an Everstart ES10LA2 thats not holding a charge.
I was wondering how much I should offer somwone for his streetbike. Hasn't ran it since 2010 has been sitting since. I see running ones for 1000 to around 2500$ but they usually have way more miles obviously so what would I offer for an as is on the nonrunning? I don't wanna low ball because thats rude but it has been sitting for 10+ years and may need a lot of work... my budget is around 500-1000$ depending on what he's happy with. Considering running ones go for no less than 1000 from what I've seen.
I didn't *plan* on buying a Katana, but it was a good trade and I figured I'd flip it. It's a beat up, modified, squid-looking, brake squeaking piece of crap... but it runs *so good* and I'm in love. Great second bike. My other ride is a KLR650 and the online communities for that bike are solid as hell. I have all the resources in the world for that bike.
For the Katana, though... I can't really find them. This post is less a request for how to solve my problems and more a request for advice on how to find info next time.
First issue is simple: burned out high beam light bulb. I can't seem to find what size bulb I need to get to replace it.
Second issue: There seems to be some general electronic fuckery. The Neutral light only comes on sometimes- not that big a deal, I can feel it. Bigger issue is that the lights seemed to dim and brighten with my revs. I'm sure it's an issue with my alternator or something, but I don't know enough about this bike to get into and it's not a deal killer, so I can live with it until I know enough to fix it.
Any thoughts or advice would be valued- not just how to fix it, but good resources on how to find info on this bike.
About a week ago I started noticing this weird scraping noise. It sound like metal on metal scraping. It ONLY appears when the throttle is open, whether a little or fully open, but if I let go of the throttle, the noise disappears. Also, the noise is not continuous, but rather sounds like someone sharpeining a knife with gentle strokes. However, the higher the speed is, the higher the "stroke" frequency is. And it only appears between 10 and 40 km/h, no matter what gear I'm in. The bike runs normally and doesn't lack any power. Any idea what can be causing the problem? Thanks.
