#Covid violations
Republican extremist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA) was fined again last week for refusing to wear a mask on the House floor, marking the 22nd penalty the congresswoman has amassed since last summer. Each violation is now costing her $2,500, taken directly from her congressional pay. The total cost of Greene’s refusal to mask-up has exceeded $50,000, nearly a third of her official salary.
>"You have been observed not wearing a mask on July 29, August 2, September 20, 21, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29, 30, and October 1, 12, 19, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, and 27, and have been asked by a member of my staff to wear a mask while in the Hall of the House of Representatives on each occasion unless recognized to speak by the chair," [House Sergeant-at-Arms William] Walker wrote in the letter.
Greene declared her defiance on Newsmax on Monday, claiming she has been fined over $60,000 (clip):

Fellow Georgia Republican Rep. Andrew Clyde was also fined last week, bringing his total to more than $30,000 for Covid violations.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) continues to effectively block almost all State Department nominees, including 59 ambassadors and critical national security positions. Only one ambassador has been confirmed amidst the obstruction: former Sen. Ken Salazar, now the US Ambassador to Mexico.
>“It’s really an undermining of the nation’s national security process,” said Bob Menendez, Democrat of New Jersey and the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. “What we have here is an unprecedented, blanketed holding of all nominees — regardless of whether they have anything to do with the policy issues at stake.”

While Cruz cannot unilaterally block nominees, he can and has objected to the normal procedure of confirmation, thereby requiring hours of floor time to confirm each nominee—and taking away from pressing matters like infrastructure, debt ceiling, and government funding bills. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) managed to confirm six important State Dept. nominees in the past week by clearing hours of floor time.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

[Hello ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the very special reunion of Season 2 of Survivor! 22 people arrived on Australian ground for this season but in the end only 3 could make it to the finale. But before we do that, let’s give a chance to interview everybody who was eliminated beforehand.]
[First up, we have the first person to ever be eliminated this season, a person who tried to strike a rivalry with Rick, but was eliminated before he had the chance to even bother. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Tidus! Now Tidus, as you may know 2 of the 3 finalists tonight joined after you were eliminated, so did you ever expect somebody like Susie to reach the finale?]
Tidus: No, not really. I mean I argued with Rick a bunch of times, but I could tell he would make it the finale. But as it turns out, he was 4th which isn’t a bad place to end up in, but I did expect him to do a bit better. As for Susie, I could barely remember her, she was just one of the others on my team.
[Ok then. Our next competitor is somebody who can be considered the comic relief of the season, and even appeared after his elimination. Ladies and gentlemen, Flumpty Bumpty! Now Flumpty, the last time the audience saw you you were at the mercy of the Burst. Our question to you is what exactly happened after?]
Flumpty: Oh, it was simply [WONDERFUL]! It’s lucky that I’m even here in one piece! To be honest, I [CAN REMEMBER] what exactly happened, mostly because I lost a bunch of my [EGG YOLK], but it was really quite [SOOTHING]! Can you just speak to the next person, I’m sure their story is a lot [MORE BORING] than [MINE].
[As you wish. Next up, we have somebody who tried to sabotage their team early on in the game, leading to her downfall. Ladies and gents, please welcome Jade West! Now Jade, considering you were eliminated pretty early on you missed out on the chance to ally with some newcomers and potentially even make it to the finale. Even interestingly, one of those newcomers that replaced you was Jotaro. Do you think he deserves to be in the running for the grand prize tonight?]
Jade: Yes and no. I really think I would have gone far, but it turns out the audience thought otherwise, so Jotaro kind of deserves to be here. But, I know for certain that meathead wasn’t that good socially and I could have done a better job than he did, so I also think he doesn’t deserve to be here.

[Previously on Survivor… the former Paras slowly gained more strength on the island, while the former Doros agreed begrudgingly to work together with the recent departure of one of their allies. However, none of that really mattered as just when the challenge was to be announced a shocking twist arrived. Bubble decided that the game wasn’t worth playing anymore and through a loophole in her contract, was allowed to voluntarily leave the island and the game behind, while still being a member of the Jury. [Jotaro approaches Rick and J.B.]
Jotaro: Hey there.
Rick: Hey.
J.B.: What do you want?
Jotaro: Nothing really, just a talk is all.
Rick: Fine, what do you want to talk about?
Jotaro: Well there are only 6 of us left on this show, and I have a good idea on how to make it to the finale.
Rick: …I’m listening.
Jotaro: What if the three of us band together in an alliance just for these next few days, getting rid of our enemies who get in our way.
J.B.: Seriously? Is this a joke?
Jotaro: Does it look like I’m joking?
J.B.: We barely know who you are, let alone if we could trust you or not. The ‘enemies’ you’re talking about are my friends, friends who I trust a lot more than you! Did you really think we’d just accept your offer without objecting?
Jotaro: …no.
J.B.: Well, congrats buddy, you just signed your own death warrant.
Jotaro: Fine by me. I knew I couldn’t talk with the monkey. Rick, how about you?
Rick: I’m sorry. Maybe if you came up to me earlier I would say yes, but I can’t betray anyone anymore, I made a promise that I can’t break. So quite kindly, piss off and go back to your own camp and think about winning immunity.

[Previously on Survivor… after winning the previous 2 challenges, the Doro Tribe faced Tribal Council once again, while the Para Tribe enjoyed their 3 newest members, including the ‘Joker’ of the game. But for now, the Doro Tribe has decided to nominate Mahiru and Ralsei, two of their weakest members and now the public has decided to either save one and eliminate the other or save/eliminate both. Who will stay and who will go? Let’s find out.]
[The results are in, and with 50% of the votes, the public have decided to save only one person. And that person is… Ralsei. Mahiru, unfortunately your adventure ends here. Please make your way to the nearest confessional in order to say your last words.]
-Mahiru: I am at a complete loss for words, I was clearly with the wrong people and for that I hope none of my teammates win this game.-
[You know the rules by now, when a candidate before the merge is eliminated he/she is replaced with a new competitor, so ladies and gentlemen please welcome our newest competitor; Wile E. Coyote! [Coyote arrives at camp and tries to introduce himself, later he is approached by Lancer and Susie.]
Lancer: Hey new guy, how are you?
Coyote: *gives a thumbs up*
Lancer: Great. I know you’re new here and no offence, but that means you’re essentially fresh meat. So allow us to make a deal. For the time being, you can join us and make it past the merge safe and sound. Do we have a deal?
Coyote: *shakes Lancer’s hand*
Lancer: Welcome aboard.
Susie: Alright, so that means you, me, and Lancer here are officially a team

Previously on Survivor… the merge came to a close and the teams chose ambassadors to represent each other. The Doros chose the villain-in-training Lancer and the Paras chose the highly cunning Renamon. Meanwhile, we saw the departure and arrival of 2 new competitors, Urataros, who didn’t get a chance to compete, and Queen, who is now a full fledged competitor on the show. As a result of a proposed pact the Ambassadors decided to nominate Rick, and now all 3 of their fates lie at the hands of the public. Who will stay and who will go? Let’s find out.]
Day 15
[The adventurers gather onto a nearby beach, awaiting the decision of the Ambassadors. They are quickly met with both Guet and the final newcomer to the show, Queen. Queen makes her introductions towards the others, embarrassing Lancer in the process, and joins them.]
Guet: In just a few minutes, the merge will officially begin. And soon, the 15 of you will either stay or go, making up either the final 14 or the final 13. The Ambassadors of each tribe have made the choice and they have decided to nominate… Rick! But, this doesn’t mean that Rick is eliminated. You see, if the public disagreed with the Ambassadors’ choice, then the Ambassadors will be eliminated instead of their choice. I have the results here and with 70% of the votes, the public have decided to… disagree! Which means that Rick makes it to the merge, but as for Lancer and Renamon their adventure ends here! Both of you, please make your way to the nearest confessional in order to say your last words.
-Lancer: I am sad to leave the game here, I had so much I wanted to do. My time was actually alright, so I guess that’s something, I just hope my allies will fight for me. Especially Ralsei, he’s going to need it.-
-Renamon: This is simply pathetic! I'm the best person at winning this game and the public decided to eliminate me? This has to be a joke, there’s no other explanation for it! I'll get my revenge one day and come back, just you wait.-
