Not to insult the former external affairs minister but it's also something which is being witnessed regularly since last few weeks is that how much last MEA office underperformed and all the brouhaha was always about Visa issuing on twitter. Rarely any think tanks were attended and addressed by her and we were kind of content with the 'goody good headlines' her diplomacy was generating. We had settled for 'mediocre' performance.
Compare that to S. Jaishankar and how this US visit along with prime minister has cemented the MEA as one of the strongest areas of this government. Today itself, Raveesh Kumar, the MEA spokesperson used an 'almost threatening' tone while answering a question regarding Malaysia's stand on India and Jammu & Kashmir.
