One year ago I started having anal itching and I guessed that I have parasites but it took a lot of tests to find out which, but after a few months passed by my stomach started going crazy ( stomach pain, hunger pain, nauseous) at start I didn't think there is any link between those symptoms because I used to have a bad diet and drink a little too often, and the stool and anal tape tests came back negative till then. But a while ago I found I am positive for strongyloides and I started the treatment too, on google I see that there are many symptoms related to the stomach.
The doctor gave me to take 4x3mg ivermectin in one day and another 4x3mg in 2 weeks, after the first dose, the next 2 days my stomach felt amazing ( I have been keeping a clean diet for 50days too but I still get bad days) but then the anal itching & all the stomach symptoms came back. I will be taking the 2nd dose soon too, hopefully that is gonna fix both problems.
I have been to the GI a few times too since I thought there's no link between.
Now my question is, is it possible that I do not have gastritis or I do and it's caused by that parasite infection? I guess I need to focus on getting rid of that parasite to get back to normal?
i see them and i know that uncinaria are kinda bigger, i know that with agar and other stuff i can identify them but is there a way in the microscope that i can identify it? i dont usually have them together and i get mixed so easily, their eggs for me look exactly the same...help!
ps: the larvae as i saw in papers, have differences (?) sorry for the bad english haha:)
We recently adopted a kitten (9 weeks old today) from a friends cat. We took her to the vet to get her shots and tested, and she came back positive for hook worms and strongyloides. We are mostly concerned about possible infection as she has already slept with us and we've played with her and been training her to get use to being held frequently. We intended to get her checked the day we brought her home, but due to an issue at the vet we had to reschedule a week later. I'm mostly concerned about strongyloides as my wife has Lupus and Ive read online it can be fatal to her. So unfortunately our kitten is in quarantine right now and we are not sure what to do. We picked up some medication, but the vet wasn't available to answer question as she was dealing with another emergency. I've tried googling info and I can't find much about how it can be transferred other than through the kittens stool. Does anyone have any experience they can give in regards to this? Any help or reassurance would be appreciated thank you!
I work at a pet store, and frequently come into contact with animals and assist in treating sick or injured animals. I noticed worms in the recent stool of a turtle in my care. We took the turtle to the vet along with the stool sample immediately, where the vet confirmed the worms were Strongyloides type, and potentially zoonotic.
I've been reading up about it. I've had my hands in this turtle's water and bedding, and been in close contact several times, so there's a good chance I've come in contact with the parasites. What I can't find are the odds that Strongyloides type worms in a turtle are likely to infect a human/mammal host. We only know the species type, but there's no confirmation that they're the zoonotic variety.
So, I guess that's my question. What is the likelihood that I or my coworkers could be infected?

- There are SO many diseases and infections you can get from walking outside barefoot.
- You are likely to step on bugs, animal shit, etc.
- If you don’t wash your feet after, you’re tracking gross stuff all over your house and into your bed.
Wearing shoes in the house is also gross for the same reasons.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
