The misogyny in this sub is so gross. Everyone commenting about that Uber girl’s tiktok should take a hard look at themselves.

PLEASE STOP GIVING THIS POST PAID AWARDS. I’ll take your free awards if you want to part with them so badly, but Reddit doesn’t need your money. If you’re so inclined to throw cash at something (I’m truly flattered that something I said may have sparked that!) donate to your union’s COPE fund or a local food bank instead.

A 24 year old female tech worker made a tik tok showing off her fancy office and upper class life. Half the comments on that post were about how she probably didn’t get the job for her skills. Low level corporate jobs are full of young people, and this sub LOVES praising the 24 year old dudes with these jobs because y’all rightfully acknowledge that they are workers too. But when the young white collar worker is a pretty blonde girl, all of that evaporates and not only do we hate her and hold her accountable for Uber’s abuses of their drivers, but she must’ve only been hired for her ass anyway.

That girl probably makes $90k tops in an expensive city. She is not the enemy for having a nice job, a pleasant office environment, or wealthy parents who are likely subsidizing that fancy apartment. You have no reason to assume she is not good at her job.

It was one thing when I’d catch bits of misogyny here and there directed at female managers. That was easy to ignore and write off as poorly worded anger. But now you are turning this bullshit on a fellow worker and it’s clear some of you just hate women.

EDIT: this got a lot of responses and I don’t have a ton of time right now, but thank you to everyone leaving supportive comments and giving this post awards. Please don’t spend your money on Reddit though. I’m glad to see that the prevailing attitude of this sub is still that that bullshit is unacceptable.

To address all the downvoted comments en masse: I am not the one dividing the movement by posting this. The people being openly and flagrantly bigoted and turning off large swaths of the population from getting involved are the ones doing that, and as you can see in the comments, a lot of people were thinking the same thing. The existence of that attitude is the problem, starting a discussion about the problem is not the problem.

FINAL EDIT this post got away from me, I was not trying to hit front page. Some people seem to think that this was all an inside job on a corporate account meant to sow discord, but feel free to check out my post history and see how frequently I post about The Sims lol, nobody wants to buy this shit.

Destiny 2 is a great game, but so hard to recommend.

Destiny 2 really is a great game. There are so many good things about this game that are unique to the game, and honestly has been the game that has kept me occupied in lockdown. As such, I tried to get my college friends to play this game too. But they all backed out soon, and I honestly don't blame them. It is so hard for me to recommend Destiny to people, especially now that i have spent a year playing the game and knowing how things work and will work.

I just wish that this game would become something that I can recommend to people not just on the basis that I personally jive with it. Content vaulting is a whole other thing, but the grind and the new player struggle just overwhelms people. And while I personally find the money I spent into the DLCs and seasons worth, I know that why it wouldn't appeal to a lot of people. Really hope that some aspects of the game shoot up so high that I can safely recommend people to play Destiny 2 in Witch Queen.

Why is it so hard to imagine that someone like Lazar could be a con man who has been lying for decades?

I'd like to preface this by saying that I believe there's another civilization observing us, and that the government has covered up a lot of the data. But that's beside the point. I'm talking about Bob Lazar specifically.

I hear this take about him all the time, how could this guy be full of shit for so long? A lot of people actually believe him for sticking to the same story for a long time.

Have you ever met a politician? A clergyman? A con man? A salesman? There are millions and millions of people in this world who are con men, who are good actors and can lie to you with a straight face and not think about it twice. Some even get pleasure from it, they have an itch to fool people.

For a good con man maintaining a false narrative across decades is actually easier than in the short run, once you have your story straight and you have your followers all you have to do is keep repeating it. You start to learn where the weak points are and you avoid them and year after year you get better and better at fooling even the most skeptical people. And if you happen to be a sociopath you won't think twice about lying to people. If you happen to be delusional you can start believing it yourself. And if you're a delusional sociopath then god help us all you could start a new religion.

Obviously the vast majority of people out there are not like that. But let's say 1% are. That makes for potentially a hundred million people out there who are completely full of shit their whole lives. This doesn't say anything about your average person out there. I think most people are honest most of the time.

All that being said I'm agnostic when it comes to Lazar, I don't want to make this seem like a smear post. On one hand he kind of reminds me of Stephen King in a way so it wouldn't surprise me if he's making shit up all the time in his head. But then again it wouldn't surprise me that he's telling the truth and the government has been threatening him for decades. He's a smart guy and his predictions around Element 115 and other things are very interesting and head scratching.

Either way it's impossible to know from just listening and watching the man, there are some great actors out there who don't act professionally. And there are some geniuses out there who are also sociopaths and con men. Think Bernie Madoff, L Ron Hubbard, David Hampton, Jerry Tarbot, Reed Slatkin, etc. The hall of famers of con men only get better over time, Lazar could easily be one of them.

What’s so hard about doing research before you get a dog?

Throwaway account because why not.

I’ve been a lurker of r/dogs and and r/puppy101 forever and sometimes the posts just… blow my mind.

β€œWhy does my Husky always jump my fence?”

β€œWhy does my Corgi try to nip everyone?”

β€œWhy does my Aussie never calm down? I take her for a 30 minute walk everyday!”

β€œWhy does my Terrier keep digging?”

β€œWhy does my Border Collie try to chase cars?”

β€œWhy is my Great Pyr up all night pacing my house?”

β€œWhy does my GSD try to eat my cats?”

β€œWhy won’t my puppy stop destroying things I leave hanging around?”

β€œWhy is my 10 week old puppy still having accidents? I take her out every 4 hours!”

β€œWhy does my dog growl at me when I stick my hands in her food bowl?”

β€œWhy is my puppy peeing on the carpets instead of pee pads?”

It’s just… so baffling to me. All of these issues could be solved with some simple… research.

The breed specific ones always make me feel so bad for the dogs. Huskies and Border Collies and GSDs and Aussies and Corgis seem to be the new β€œhot” dogs and everyone wants them but half the people who get them don’t have the type of lifestyle that’s needed to care for high energy dogs like that.

And then they come to Reddit and beg for help. You could have seen this coming if you had just looked up breed specific information from the start!

It just makes me feel so bad for these pups. It’s depressing.

Please do you research before getting dogs!

ADHD & Relationships: Why is being in a relationship while having ADHD so dang hard?

I get bored fast, very impatient, etc. When I feel sensory overload I become annoyed and lash out on my partner. I am also sensitive. I think the littlest sh!t is a sign of rejection. I have such a hard time managing my emotions and I feel as though each partner I end up with doesn’t understand. They see me as some toxic lunatic! I do not blame them though.

Edit: I love how all of you are straight up with what I need to do. I’m taking every piece of insight seriously. Thank you all for the advice, and support. And for everyone who can relate to my post, we’re all in this together and there’s always a way to become better at managing ADHD. (:
