A list of puns related to "SliTaz"
I've been looking into small linux distros like Tiny Core Linux and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanolinux
I found one that runs on 4MB of RAM. While I do not know if it has a GUI, and knowing it was written for x86, would it be possible to port it to the Xtensa chip WROVER (with 4.5MB RAM) or the ESP32-C3 (the C3 with added 8MB PSRAM?)
https://github.com/SliTaz-official/tiny-slitaz I read about the Inkplate 6" & 10" and after I contacted their developer, he said it runs FreeRTOS and uses the Espressif IDF. Considering the screen and capabilities, it would be really interesting to run it on a low speed ESP32- they have improved the refresh rate:

i even tried using slitaz core iso because on some forum one guy said the usual one has 4 rfzs.
i have windows 7 installed along with phoenixos. tried two different unetbootin versions. i am trying to install linux without usb since i dont have usb sticks

that's the photo ^
Edit: By the way, I've tried using /boot. It says permission denied.
Edit 2: Ah. It turns out i was just stupid. It did not say it had a gui. I am sorry for the stupidness i'm still new to linux and this stuff.
Much appreciated!!
I'm not a linux pro. I want functionality to download music and movies, a full functioning web browser, and student software. (abiword, etc) I don't know a lot about either of these distros, I'm reading into both of them at the moment. I want to pick one and start burning the image asap.

Anybody works on this project? It will be a shame to see SliTaz cease to exist.
I am just starting to get into linux with Slitaz and I have to say I was impressed with how cleanly the installation went, and the speed (I chose this as my laptop was slow and wanted something lightweight) most things are working fine but I have a few critical issues being a linux newbie.
--EDITED with any solutions found --
A: alsactl init in terminal
On windows I used 7-zip but its command line only on linux, I am aware of peazip, but don't know how to install it.
Do I want .DEBs or .RPMs. It appears Slitaz uses .tazpkgs but no software appears to come in that. I hope I do not need to get funky with source files.
A: Tazpkg convert filename.deb
A: echo "auto_login yes" >> /etc/slim.conf
Help with any/all the issues above will be more than appriciated!
Title says it all.
Edit: cannot boot with damn small Linux either, it gets the the screen with dsl in text and the penguins then runs a little text then stops.

Mandrakes are an underrated minor Xenos race, allied with Dark Eldar. They are from Aelindrach, a realm of endless darkness that I've wrote about previously.
Mandrakes have a very interesting and reasonably deep lore, that is (unfortunately) largely ignored by most fans. So in this post I want to highlight one aspect of that lore.
Most of the time, Mandrakes are cooperating with Drukhari to raid planets in the Galaxy. The thing is, unlike most minor races, Mandrakes are perfectly capable of spreading death and terror on their own.
>Like all the denizens of Commorragh, the Mandrakes thrive on the malevolent infliction of pain, often appearing from the shadows to strike at the enemy when they least expect it, tearing flesh from bone with wicked-looking blades, sharpened claws and their own, blood-flecked teeth.

>Bellathonisβs laughter was a tiny, tinkling storm that swiftly dissipated.
>
>βYou mean can we return, donβt you, Xagor? The simple answer is yes. The insubstantiality of shadow intersects both our realm and this one under normal conditions β after all, it only takes the application of light to show that shadow is all around us. Also consider the mandrakes β they are creatures of Aelindrach that dwell here yet can travel to Commorragh or indeed elsewhere in the universe if they have a mind to go. We may yet become fully consumed by Aelindrach, but for now we are free to come and go as we please.β
Path of the Archon
To put it in a simple language - Mandrakes can (and very much like) jump out of your shadow and murder you when you least expect it. The range of their power is pretty wide, to the point that Bellathonis, who is very knowledgable about this subject, believes that they can use shadows to travel whenever in the universe.
And the Imperium learned about it a few times.
>They are able to manifest anywhere that shadows gather in the gloom, and as such are a malevolent bane on night worlds and in warzones that are veiled in darkness.
>
>The planet Mordianβhome to the Iron Guard regiments of the Astra Militarumβhas endured multiple Mandrake attacks, the fiendish creatures appearing to butcher high-ranking officers before receding from reality once more.

Go post NSFW jokes somewhere else. If I can't tell my kids this joke, then it is not a DAD JOKE.
If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.
Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.
Thank you,
A Dad.
So I've got this really old computer (no specific date but around 1999-2001) and i was thinking about using it as a "toy" computer for things like a simple server, trying stuff out on, etc. and i was looking for a lightweight enough distro to use on it. The machine's specs are:
Would there be any distro that would work good with this? Here's what I tried:
Any suggestions? I'd like to at least get a WM on it running smoothly, even if it's just something like Tinywm or openbox.
Also, since there's two HDDs, if i were to use one with the system files, and the other with miscellaneous files plus a swap partition, would it increase speed since the swap is in a completely different drive?
Thanks!
Edit: Thanks everybody for your suggestions! I'm going to try TinyCore and see if that works.
